Absolutely love this place. Started training here back in August 2022 with Derek Johnson and haven't looked back once. Started with a short 5 month bulk where Derek walked me through the basics of lifting heavy to put on size. Utilizing the app to keep track of my workouts and dial in my nutrition Derek helped me put on around 5-6lbs of muscle. Then January 1 we started a long and slow cut to get ready for summer and a planned trip to Europe. 5 months in after numerous tweeks and adjustments to my workouts, cardio, supplement suggestions and nutrition Derek helped me lose almost 10% body fat and 10lbs of overall weight while still putting on some lean muscle mass. Derek is also very experienced in power lifting, body building and strength and conditioning. The gym itself is amazing as well. The equipment is top notch. Never over crowded. And all the coaches and staff are super friendly. Highly recommend and don't see myself leaving this gym any time soon read more

Franco and Crystal are amazing and helped my daughter get ready for college soccer! They were consistent and I loved how detailed they were in her training - noticing every detail so she could maximize her efforts and not get injured! read more

Last August I was in search of a new gym and a place where I could grow as a person & get fit especially after the pandemic shut downs. This gym started off as my escape & now it has honestly become my sanctuary. The energy here is contagious, the people are so kind, and I am so grateful I found Taylor P. as my trainer. She is real, caring, knows her sh*^!, and treats all of her clients like family. I've had trainers before but she proves that the self made trainers are one of a kind and a wholeeee different level. I never knew or felt the term "gym fam" until I started going here. This place truthfully has helped me in so many ways and I will forever be grateful. Because of Tay I'll forever be a Self Made gym lifer. read more

I just started with Self Made and so far my experience has been great. I worked out prior to attending Self Made for over 10 years. I decided that I wanted to expand my workouts and focus on body fat loss. My trainer is Sean Shannon of FiTrain and in the short time I've been there I have learned so much about form and what to eat. I have lost 8lbs so far and I have noticed my abs strengthening and my glutes haven't worked this hard. What I enjoy most is that if I have any questions I can text Sean and he will answer as fast as he can. He also will send a random text asking how I am doing with food. The downfall of the facility is that they do not have water stations so make sure to bring your own water. Other than that I look forward to seeing where this journey takes me! read more

I started training with Brittney (@reignandgain) a few months ago. I hesitated joining a training facility because I did not regularly go to the gym and had zero experience with weight training, I was sooooo nervous. From the moment I met Brittney, I knew I was going to join and she truly is amazing! One of the very few trainers who not only focuses on physical fitness but also provides you with a meal plan that was easy to follow, which really did make it feel less overwhelming. I truly enjoyed every session I had with her, she's very professional, takes her role in your journey very seriously but is also very kind, fun and an overall pleasure to be around. Always a good balance between professionalism and having a good time. Although, I moved and won't be able to go in person, I couldn't imagine not training with her, so online it is! Nothing is more satisfying than feeling and seeing progress, even with some hiccups, she never made me feel like I disappointed her, it was always constant encouragement and reiterating how proud she is for the progress made. Half the time I surprised myself when I could do things I didn't know I'd ever be able to do. Seriously, if you're considering it, shes def someone worth taking a chance on! And for the facility itself, everyone is so friendly and kind, everything feels clean and overall very inviting. Loved every moment of this experience so far! read more

I've been working with Hannah/ Hannesey fitness instructor for over 3 months and I am so impressed and pleased with my experience so far!! My goal was to gain healthy weight and body mass, and I'm now up 10 lbs! Her putting me on a meal plan helped me to better understand my macro nutrients as well as focusing on creating a good balance between my diet and exercise. Not only has that been an improvement in my life but also the relationships ive been able to build with the girls I work out with too. she brings a great motivating energy to us all and we all look forward to our workouts together. I highly recommend Hannah to ANYONE looking to make any diet or physical changes for the better. she definitely helped me I know she could help you too. read more

I've been training with Sean Shannon for 16 months. As a mom of 3, my realistic goal is to be a 75% kinda hot mom. Sean has taken me there and beyond. An Outstanding master of his craft; incredibly bright with a treasure trove of health and fitness knowledge; nutrition planning; expert in weight training and a warm, spontaneous personality that make workouts fun. Sean Shannon is brimming with the brains to help anyone achieve the brawn. He's the real deal in an industry full of wannabees and is the standard by which any trainer should be measured. Sean embodies change. Through consistent and positive feedback and encouragement (time to grow!), he retrained my attitude while I retrained my body. He quietly discovered the athlete in me that I never knew. Thank you.... read more

I've been to the gym. It's an excellent facility. Probably the funnest gym I've ever worked out in. Selvaughn Keagan has been training me there. He is the best!!! read more

I can never say enough positive things about this gym. I have paid for many gyms, weight loss plans, pills, I mean you name it I tried it. All failed, I was super intimidated when I started because it's way outside my comfort zone. I knew my trainer from his previous location as he trained my kids. I have been going for 2 months and I have to say by this time I would have quit and made excuses not to go. The results are slow but steady and I feel the gains and personal best with every session. This is the first time ever that I have wanted to continue what I started. I work out and the time flies. I highly recommend Brian Schumaker (CoachSchu Camp) if you are in need of motivation and results. The other trainers are friendly and the owner is always in there working out and engages with the clients with conversation or a Hi as you work out. The gym has young, old, body builders and those working on a better them. No judgment. I highly recommend this gym if you are looking for something different with results. read more

Shout out to Self Made and my Trainers (Joe Diesel & Chad Davsion)! I found out about Self Made several years ago but was not sure I could afford Personal Training. Fast forward a few years and I was ready to push myself to new limits, striving to compete in men's physique bodybuilding shows. They could not have made it any easier and affordable. Multiple options to work best with your budget and schedule. I pulled the trigger and it launched a passion I will continue for as long as my body allows me! Everyone is super friendly and very knowledgeable. Very cool branding and family atmosphere. I will miss the SMTF Headquarters as I now live in Orange, but you better believe can find me at their Orange location once I am settled in my new area! Thank you for everything! See you guys again soon! read more

Self Made Training Facility is awesome. Clean, spacious, well-appointed and not crowded. Everyone is working one on one with a trainer, so you dont have the usual crowd of slackers taking up space. And everyone wipes down equipment and re-racks weights in their place. Ground-breaking! All the trainers i have interacted with have been friendly and helpful. My trainer, Ben Woods, is awesome. I have been through 8 workouts with him so far and plan on many more in the coming months. I have already started seeing results. Ben listens to what your goals are and develops extremely specific sessions to address those. And he has functional training expertise, so he knows how to address your limiting issues. He always has a smile on his face, but he doesn't let you get away with cheating or slacking. I personally have been working out for 20+ years and i have learned something new every workout! If you are looking for a serious trainer and a professional atmosphere for making health improvement, give Ben a try. You will be happy you did. read more

I train with Brittney (Reignandgain) and have been with her for about a year. I have had an amazing experience training with her and enjoy the way she does everything. I love that we constantly talk about what my goals are and how they can be reached through diet and exercise. read more

Long story short, 2015 has been a rough year. Then out of a stroke of coincidence, I was recommended to check out Self Made Training Facility. I have been an avid gym goer for years, but I hit a plateau and wanted more gains. I sat with Junie (@changethe6ame) and from the get go I saw his passion for personal training and I felt like he could help me reach my goals. Self Made is a raw gritty gym and you can tell that every one of those trainers put their heart and souls into their craft. Unlike conventional gyms, I don't have to wait too long to use their equipment giving me less rest time and optimize workouts. I feel like I am in a secret fraternity of like-minded individuals all with a common goal of bettering themselves holistically. Junie, by nature is a very positive person. His workouts are intense, but there is a method to his madness. He wants the best out of you while he peppers in his positivity which is absolutely contagious. 9 months later, I am in the best shape of my life physically and mentally. A big thanks to Self Made and Junie. read more

Self Made Training Facility - I am a product of my environment. - Gyms Near Me - Murrieta, California

I love my personalized training, my trainers, and the options in workout equipment that can be used. All great. However my reason for the three star is the in the past several months there has been a particular trainer that brings in almost camp size groups of kids that use up almost half of the gym making in impossible to share and limits what my trainer can do with me when I come. My trainer can't even give me heads up because she doesn't know when they will be there. Note I'm talking groups with 10 plus kids (the trainers with 3-4 at a time I don't mind). Along with this the parents tend to hang out and at times have toddler age sibling that's just run free giving me worry that I'm going to hit one when doing some of my exercises (kettle bell swings for example). I love this facility and pay for the personalized environment. If I wanted to be around a bunch of kids and parents I could go to a park and workout on my own for free. Like I said this has been a new thing so hoping it calms down eventually. EDIT: Thank you Miguel for your quick reply. The parents definitely make it hard and please note I do appreciate the youth activities some of the trainers do. But like I said those huge groups of 10+ do take up a lot of space and it's not very consistent when they are coming. May I suggest the trainers who do these big groups just give a kind of heads up? Again appreciate addressing. read more

The place is cool. Everyone is pretty friendly too. I take my son to a jujitsu class, by coach Julio. He loves it!

I met Derek Johnson back in 2018. I had lost my Mom to breast cancer and shortly after that I lost my husband to a motorcycle accident. I was in a really bad place and living wasn't high on my list. I decided I needed to do something about my mental health. Derek changed my life. When I started bodybuilding , I could feel the depression and anger leaving my mind and body. I trained with him 3 days a week. Derek trained me on bodybuilding, Powerlifting, Posing, and Nutrition. When my muscles started to build and my body fat lowered to a healthy level, I built my self confidence up, and my willingness to survive. I kept going and here I am today, 5 years later, still training with him. I'm afraid to think where I would be if it wasn't for his kindness, understanding, guidance and amazing background for fitness. When I say he has changed my life, that is an understatement, more like he saved my life. Thank you Derek. read more

Really glad I was introduced to Self Made! The facility is walking distance from my office - VERY convenient. My Son is able to train here with a phenomenal strength and agility trainer. Coach Devon is it!! And in good form he's availed himself to train us parents to! Very grateful. read more

On March 13th 2021 I had the great displeasure of meeting Dominique Morrison. He assured me that he would/could help me surpass my goals. He then proceeded to collect $1,440 from me. He did this before I ever had the opportunity to get to know his abysmal "training services". I asked about paying using Venmo after each session was complete (as I currently do/have done with the other REPUTABLE trainers), but I was told that that was not an option. I wanted to give Mr. Morrison the benefit of the doubt, so I paid him with my credit card on March 13th (the day he sent me the invoice). I never signed a contract (nor was I ever asked to). I NEVER agreed to let him keep this money regardless of the quality of services that he rendered. Nor did he ever explain to me that that was what he planned to do. Mr. Morrison eventually told me that personal training was a side business for him. It is evident that personal training is not something that he takes seriously. 3/13/21: I met with Dom Morrison at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 13th at the Self Made Training Facility in Temecula. I was very clear with Mr. Morrison about my training goals. He assured me that he would be able to help me surpass my goals. He was unable to offer any real insight on any of the goals that I had. He proceeded to "train me" by having me run up and down the street and do push-ups outside. 3/14/21:Mr. Morrison proceeded to make me walk around aimlessly for approximately 40 minutes on a trail that he admitted he was unfamiliar with. He told me to climb down hills that I was not comfortable climbing to the point that I had to crawl down out of fear that I would seriously injure myself. My phone fell out of my pocket and my screen cracked as a result of his terrible "training". I don't even want to imagine what could have happened to ME if I had not stooped to crawling down the hills. 3/15/21: Mr. Morrison arrived late to the "training session" wearing his pajamas. He originally asked me to meet him at the gym at 5:00 a.m. (this was before he charged me $1,440. It was even on his poorly-crafted training "plan" (the one he is currently trying to charge me $200 for). He called me to ask me what time we were supposed to be meeting. I had already warmed up for over ten minutes on my own at that point. I asked Mr. Morrison how I should begin the session. He told me to do sit ups by myself while he chatted with his friend on the other side of the gym. He was nowhere near me to TRAIN ME??!! He finally came over after his chat was done. He had me do "lat pull downs". He could not pick the correct weight for me. He made me do repetitions incessantly until my hands developed painful calluses. He then proceeded to inform me that I would be doing those exercises and some other exercises independently from then on. (What would he be doing while I was doing those I wondered... ) Then it was time for a run. Mr. Morrison proceeded to get in his car, he pointed to a spot on the curb, told me that that would be my starting point. He drove to the spot where he wanted me to run to and he told me that I would then turn around and run back to the original spot on the curb that he had pointed to. He told me he would be waiting at the gym to "make sure I ran it." Then it hit me: He was instructing me to run by myself. In the dark. In the rain. It became increasingly harder for me to understand why Mr. Morrison was advertising himself as a "personal trainer" if he was not going to offer me the support, coaching, motivation, or tips that I needed to reach my goals. It was pitch black outside and it was raining. It was extremely unsafe for me to run the two-mile distance that he highlighted for me while HE was in the safety of his car or in the gym chatting with friends. I politely voiced my concern about running alone and he replied w/, "Oh, so you want me to run with you? WOULD THAT MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER? HUH?" I paid him $150 for the three TERRIBLE HOURS that he "trained" me. He is now trying to charge my credit card $1,290 for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING other than a horrific experience. read more

This place has nothing but good reviews and here's another. Self Made is clean, well maintained and has every piece of equipment you could think of to keep your workouts interesting and motivating. I have been working with Cynthia Gonzales and she is simply incredible. She is always communicating, making sure you're staying on track to meet your goals, and genuinely cares about how her clients are progressing. I have worked out with probably a dozen trainers in my time and no one comes close to her. I've made the best progress EVER and that's speaking at 10 weeks in. I will continue to train with Cynthia at Self Made because you can't argue with results! read more

I had a bad experience with one of the trainers at the Temecula location. I paid the trainer $400 up front for the month of training at this gym, the trainer then went MIA. I could not get a hold of him for couple weeks. I was able to get the name of the owner of the gym from a friend of mine who also went to the gym. I called the owner and he related that the gym is not responsible and said basically I was out of luck and it's unfortunate. I have since switched gyms and now have every confidence at my new gym that when I pay for a month of workouts, I will actually get a month of workouts. read more

So happy to have found Britney Reyna for my weight loss journey. I started not knowing even were to start and she walked me through the whole process, from meal prepping, to knowing what kind of supplements to use, You can tell she loves her job with the dedication she puts in each work out, she is always available for any questions and is able to work around my busy schedule. I started with her in early June at 143.3 lb and ended at 120 lb and I couldn't be happier with my results. Love this Gym. Very knowledgeable trainers. A gym for all levels. They have great kids programs, and a lot of great elite trainers. I train with Sean Shannon of Fit Train, he knows how to sculpt the body. I came in and learned so much from him. I was experienced in weight lifting, but not body building. Sean ended up getting me prepped for my first Competition. Never would I have ever thought I would do a Competition in my life. But he gave me a plan to follow and we made it happen!! I couldn't have done it without him. I lost over 40lbs and lost a ton of body fat. I was shocked of my results! As long as you follow his plan it works. Hands down one of the best trainers in there. He knows his stuff. The facility is very large and has a lot of machines and free weights. There is so much variety. It's the perfect place to train. I really enjoy training there. There aren't enough words words I can use to describe how much love and respect I have for my coach, Jane Joaquin. Her story moved me and has inspired me to go for something I've been wanting for the better part of a year. I have gone through a few trainers before her but none have gotten me the same results. I started with her lifestyle prep and was so impressed I committed myself into bikini prep. In only three months she has been able to target what I considered my "problem" area, three months and in my legs alone I have lost THREE INCHES. I have never felt healthier both physically and mentally and I have her to thank for it. A recent change in schedule has made it possible for me to train once a week at Self Made and it has been quite the experience, both working out and posing. As soon as I walked in I instantly felt welcomed and comfortable. The atmosphere is great and it makes the ride so much more enjoyable. I look forward to kicking off my weeks with my Monday workouts at Self Made with my Coach. It sets the tone and only gets better from there. read more

Been getting in some amazing training and recovery here with Jason Shirley since reinjuring my neck/upper back after my last trip to Samoa. The facility is legit to say the least. My recovery is progressing nicely and with the extra bonus of his IASTM (instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization) I've been able to start training jiu jitsu again, still not surfing but progress is progress and my neck is feeling way better/stronger. The recovery/soft tissue work is insane, helps improve range of motion and break up the knots that slowly start to sneak back in after a long week. Looking forward to getting stronger and healthier for sure. Thx J! read more

What a fantastic idea for a gym! The business model of Self Made is highly professional, vetted trainers who are each given freedom to run their own businesses within the gym. This gym is very private with appointment-only workouts with trainers, so the equipment is available, people are very respectful of each other's space, and everyone gets along. The vibe is great -- very positive and focused on pushing yourself but also chill and happy. There are not groups of dude-bros milling around monopolizing one station for 45 minutes while posing for instagram. The one downside is no showers--bummer for people who would work out then head directly to work. But they make up for it in variety and quality of equipment with everything always in working order. You never see those annoying "sorry, this machine is broken" sign that sits for months like at many other gyms. As for specific trainers, I highly recommend Franco (Franco's Lifestyle Fitness) for his knowledge, skill, and personality. read more

My trainer John Watson is hands down the most thorough and passionate coach I've ever met. He is super detailed in designing the program that fit me, my lifestyle and my goals. I gained 20 pounds of muscle in two months and increased my strength tremendously. For example I started out only being able to do 2 (yes two) wide grip pull ups body weight. In two months I was up to three sets of 10 pull ups body weight. And went from 80 lb dumbells as my highest rep weight on incline press to using 120lb dumbells.
