I wanted to recommend Physical therapy at this location. I mostly worked with Eliot who was top notch in his initial assessment and adjusting as I progressed and understanding when I had a setback. The other Physical therapists I observed were personable and liked what they were doing with other patients . A great location. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed The only negative, they need more space. A little tight in there with the other patients. read more

If I could give Select zero stars, I would. I have been in and out of physical therapy for decades. My prior PT moved so when my doctor suggested Select, I tried them. Worst experience ever. I was paired with a therapist who was distracted and paid zero attention to me. It was my initial evaluation and this person asked questions that he didn't bother to wait for the answer to and didn't watch as I did the few exercises he told me to do. It was a complete waste of time. When I called and canceled all my remaining appointments, I was told that I didn't have to worry, I'd never be paired with that therapist again because I was his last client on his last day. This probably explained why I had such a worthless appointment but then came the bill. I called them and told them I objected to having to pay anything for a completely worthless waste of time and insurance benefits. Being asked to pay more out of pocket was adding insult to injury. The person I spoke to, Elliot, was extremely sympathetic and said he would see what he could do. After waiting months to get some resolution, Elliot called me sheepishly apologizing that the people in charge refused to budge because if they forgave the debt, it would be "admitting medical fraud." They gave me a month or so to pay it and then sent it off to collections for $37. What a terrible business. Worst PT experience of my life!!! read more

I had a wonderful time at Select Physical Therapy. For the most part I worked with Meaghan and she just radiated this positive energy that just made my day. She also helped me figure out the next steps for my issues which helped me get somewhat of a diagnosis from the doctors. And all of the staff at Select Physical Therapy were so sweet and helpful. And if you have to switch up which physical therapist you see do to scheduling, they do a very good job at communicating with each other about what you have been working on and what seems to work best. If I need to do physical therapy again, I will definitely be going back here. read more

Have had a great experience with them after an MCL sprain. I worked with Eliot primarily, but the entire staff offers support. Eliot did a great job setting up a program that constantly evolved and pushed me, and that works at home with a variety of equipment (our building gym opened during my treatment and he shifted my exercises to be able to do with equipment in the gym). I came out of PT feeling stronger on BOTH legs than I did last time I was uninjured. Eliot advised on ongoing exercises, and some additional moves to incorporate to ensure I remain strong for specific activities that I enjoy that could have a high risk of injury to knees including kickboxing, surfing, and rollerblading. Crystal is my therapist and she is so gifted at pinpointing the source of my lower back and neck pain and numbness. She is knowledgeable, pushes hard, but not so hard that you have set backs and the results are obvious to me. She gives plenty of take home exercises so that my recovery can go at my pace- yay! Crystal also helped me after my knee replacement with the same quick results, it seems to me that a good PT will teeter on the edge of pushing hard enough to get fast results but not so hard that you loose days in recovery from the therapy itself! People come to select physical therapy for two important reasons. First, they want to improve their ability to move physically. Second, they want to shed the pain of their muscles and bones. Select has any number of therapists who have academic achievement like doctorates in physical therapy. They trade around patients from visit to visit so that in the course of a month or two, the patients will meet a number of therapists who are expertly proficient. I have received physical therapy for a number of reasons over the years at several places. Select Physical Therapy has been my location for treatment the last several months. Select PT is by far the best PT experience I've had the benefit of. My main Therapist is Larry and he brings years of experience. Larry's long standing care is a value not only to the patient but every professional in the practice. It's like perpetual training for staff and patient alike. I've been to a La Jolla provider that basically handed me a sheet of exercises and put me on a stationary bike for five minutes. A stationary bike for a Grade 3 shoulder Separation? Two appointments like that and I was done! Select PT is hands on with manipulations and stretches before turning a patient loose with independent strengthening and range of motion conditioning. While I say "independent" you are not ignored. I swear, everyone there has compound vision. If you are not doing task correctly any Therapist or capable Assistant will let you know and get you back on track. Everyone's goal seems to be provide maximum benefit to the patient. I completed my physical therapy today...6 months post spinal fusion surgery and I could not be HAPPIER! Thanks to Eliot (my therapist) my body is stronger now than before surgery. He mentally helped me to gain confidence in my abilities while I was regaining my mobility and strength. The beginning of each appointment was a checkin to see how I was doing, I felt that I was 100% heard and my appointment was adjusted to meet how I was feeling on that particular day. Weekly my therapy exercises were adjusted just enough to keep me challenged and progressing towards a full recovery. The entire staff from the front desk (Reeann) to all of the Pt assistants and other therapists were all fantastic. They maintain a positive and professional attitude while keeping everyone motivated. I believe that the facility is understaffed. Although Eric, the therapist is skilled, his attention is spread all over the treatment room rather than on the individual patient. I will not return there. I felt that my needs were not met. As he was "working" on my neck, he was directing therapy aides and shouting out directions to another patient as to what he should be doing. Needless to say, that made for a very uncomfortable experience. read more

The entire staff at Select PT is so friendly, helpful, professional, and fun. I went to this facility a couple years ago for a shoulder issue and my experience was so good I didn't hesitate to come back when I had knee and hip issues. Although everyone was great I worked with Krystal and Hunter the most and they made my recovery successful, providing their expertise and helpful exercises for both at the facility and for home. In addition, the atmosphere at this facility runs very efficiently and kept clean and orderly. PB PT is the best ever!!! I, unfortunately, suffered a "very complicated" injury, as Dave at PBPT and Dr. Levinsohn (also an amazing doc at Sharp hospital who I can't say enough good things about) said. I tore my ACL, partially tore my LCL/MCL, dislocated knee, and fractured tibia when ACL broke away. Dave (director of facility) and his team were beyond stellar. The care I received was top-notch: thorough, effective, personalized and challenging (in a good way). Admittedly, I ask a ton of questions and am very involved with my care, yet Dave and team patiently listened and responded to all of my worries--even after I stopped being a patient. I love how they pushed and encouraged me to do more than I thought possible, so my recovery has been a strong one--even the doc and his partners have noted that--and I credit this to the knowledgeable PB PT team. Honestly, I had another major accident 2.5 years before and went to rehab at Sharp. I love sharp docs but the PT program was terrible. They didn't seem to know what they were doing, i was cared for by people still in school who were clueless, i was in and out in 45 minutes despite how many exercises i did or didn't do, i was rushed, i reinjured myself because they failed to notice an area of my leg wasn't strong enough before advancing to more difficult moves, yet they still didn't push me (saying I was already doing better than most, which I don't care about, bc I want to be at MY level again, not others). Well, Dave and PBPT were the opposite as they took amazing care of me and took the time to ensure I enjoy a full recovery. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT PACIFIC BEACH PHYSICAL THERAPY!!!! They are amazing and I will (and do) tell anyone who will listen. Oh, and Ellie (who leads all the Insurance paperwork and admin) is so thorough and on top of everything!! Even from before I was a patient, she patiently explained their facilities and protocols and experience to me (bc I grilled her before first visit as I wanted to be sure rehab was better than sharp memorial hospital rehab). I was impressed by her extensive knowledge even before my first visit. She as well as Natalie, Dave's assistant, are an amazing support team who are knowledgeable, smart, capable, great at their jobs, and a team you can trust!! That's one of the things that sharp was missing--strong support for the lead therapist. Strong support, thanks to natalie and Ellie is what you'll receive here, as I felt 100% safe, cared for, and comfortable (yet physically challenged) with both of them. Okay, gushing is over, but if you are in need of rehab, go Tao PB PT!!!!!! I owe them the ability to walk normally again within just a couple months of a terrible accident and I can't thank them enough!! read more

I found Dave Mager and his group to be extremely competent and professional. I came in with a diagnosed pinched nerve but Dave showed the flexibility in treating that and the hamstring. I could barely walk when I entered the first time and five weeks later (two treatments a week) I'm free from pain and starting to enjoy the normal things in life again. Went to them to rehab an ACL tear. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff that guided me perfectly through the rehab process. Upon finishing their program, I had full range of motion and was already back on the treadmill and bike in 6 weeks. Highly recommend. read more
