I was referred to Select Nails a while ago. After going 6 months without a mani pedi I finally decided that enough was enough. Their current reviews are mixed and outdated so I threw caution to the wind and went in hoping for the best. It turned out to be a great experience! There's hand sanitizer as soon as you walk in with a sign instructing you to clean your hands when you enter. It was 2pm on a weekday and there was no wait. Everyone inside wore a mask and were seated socially distant. Lu Lu greeted me, offered me a beverage then proceeded to do a great job on my mani pedi, she took her time and was very gentle. I signed up for the rewards program to earn points towards a discounted service. I'll be returning in a couple weeks for more pampering. read more

I have tried a few places in Laredo and have been so disappointed to the point I stopped getting mani and pedis for a bit. I found this place even with not being sure bc of the reviews. I am so glad that I found them!!!! They did such a great job. It was 90 for gel mani, pedicure with callus treatment, eyebrow and lip wax. They signed me up for rewards and gave me a pen and flashlight for being a new guest. They were kind to me and offered me a drink. I did not wait long. I came on a Sunday and they were busy but I didn't have any trouble. They make you sanitize when you walk in and when you leave. I really enjoyed my experience and will be returning. read more

Have been going here for years, never had an issue. Today, went in for a dip manicure and was serviced by the rudest nail technician. He was very rough and when he cut me while filing, I pointed it out and asked that he be careful with that cuticle. He ignored me then loudly dismissed me with "yeah, yeah". Then I asked him to correct a crooked nail and he loudly said "yeah, file, file, file". He then went on to grip my hand and (I believe intentionally) cut up my cuticles with the drill. He wiped away the blood like nothing happened. I complained and the cashier took off $5. I don't want a free service, I want good service. Absolutely disgusting. read more

This place came highly recommended however the place didn't seem sanitary..... the woman who no fault of her own wore the same gloves she did with me as she did with another client who had some type of waxing performed. I can only imagine where she was waxed as she was led to another room while she was starting with me. She attended to another woman and when she was done she didn't leave with her nails polished. My nails should of had a plain coat to show the opaque finish.....this place is extremely overpriced. I wouldn't recommend this place from sanitation to service quality and price. I will def go back to the first place I tried in Laredo. I'm very disappointed the nails aren't nice and I was over charged. But who cares as long as the business gets their fee. read more

I wasn't a regular customer, for I was disappointed with the fact that the nail techs (different nationalities) were always bickering and fighting over the clients in front of those same clients. Nevertheless, I decided to give them another chance. I arrived without an appointment, and the salon was busy, so I knew I would have to wait awhile. About 30 minutes later another client arrived without an appointment, however she was getting a different service. After about 5 minutes, she asked how much longer it would be. The owner politely tells her it will be another 10-15 minutes. When I politely asked how much longer for the service I was waiting for, the owner was very rude and hostile toward me, saying there were many clients ahead and that it was very busy. The owner seemed extremely flustered and overwhelmed, however, this does not excuse her extremely rude behavior toward a client. I was confused at her hostility toward me, when she was very polite to the other woman just a few minutes prior. This was about 18 months ago, and I have refused to spend my money at Select Nails ever since. Never again! read more

My "go to" nail salon in Laredo. I have never been disappointed by the service they provide and the enthusiastic employees. Great variety of pedicure packages with good massages. This helped relieve tension in my feet a lot since I would constantly be on them for work. As for nails, I would always get a full set with gel. Loc is my official nail technician there. He is very precise and consistent with delivering my wants/needs whether it's the shape of the nail all the way down to the design. All the time I go in I have pictures ready for him and he gladly takes in my requests. They may be a little pricier than other places but I believe that their quality of services are worth it. I've been to Select Nail five or six times now. Almost every time, it has been impossible to leave paying for the service I've asked for without new, hidden charges. Once, it was an extra fee for a pedicure for being a man. Another time, it was an extra fee for a sugar scrub I hadn't ordered and wasn't aware was being used. The owner, naturally, does not care and makes a scene at the register. Last time she refunded the extra fee. This time, she refused to right the wrong, saying "but you DID receive it, so." The difference between $32 and $37 is minimal, but that's not the point. Tacking on charges is dishonest. I don't have the patience for her games. I'll be going elsewhere. If I could've given this place ZERO stars I would've! I had never been here before, so I asked the lady at the desk how much it would be for a shellac manicure and pedicure to which she responded "$55." I was seated right away, but I waited almost TWO HOURS before even being asked if I had been helped or if I wanted water in the tub for my pedicure! I waited another 45 MINUTES before someone actually sat down to do my nails (at which point i'd been there for almost 3 hours). I finished getting both my manicure and pedicure and i was looking them over and noticed that i had nail polish all over my foot, cuticles, hands, basically everywhere there wasn't supposed to be nail polish. When I went to pay the lady told me it was $72 and I argued with her that she had told me it was only $55. She explained to me that putting water in the tub, having my legs scrubbed, and rubbed with lotion was an additional $30 to the $15 charge for a shellac pedicure. My friends' introduced me to this nail salon. I enjoyed coming and spent anywhere between $70-$150 on their services - pedicures, manicures with shellac, back massages, eyebrow waxing plus a well deserved 20% tip. I invited 3 friends of mine on different occasions because I enjoyed their services and I took my husband as well. I tried to go on Fri., 5/11 at 6:05 pm, I signed in over the telephone meanwhile I drove over on my way because I was told it would be a 30 minute wait. When I arrived at 6:15 pm I was told it would be a 10-15 minute wait. I sat in the pedicure chair from 6:30-6:55 pm with no cosmetologist looking nearly close to being available to attend to me. It was packed, being it was 2 days before Mother's Day (Sun., 5/13). I was left with my feet soaking in water, no nail polishes to chose from nor a drink offered -- if the management knew I would wait beyond an hour I think at least a drink should've been offered for my wait and some colors to choose from. After realizing the wait would be longer and I probably would not be home til 9 pm, I decided to notify the management that I was leaving and dissatisfied with inaccurate time waits. The elder main manager/owner lady with the short hair snapped and said "[she] was doing everything [she] could do". In my humble opinion, she was not in control of the situation - over surplus of clients, shortage of employees, current employees not working time efficiently to tend to other moms trying to prepare for Mother's Day. To avoid this, I had tried to make an appointment and was told they would not make an appointment for that Friday or Saturday. I left with a sour taste in my mouth that night. I went back today, Weds., 5/16 with a booked appointment at 9:30 AM. I tried calling from 9:21 AM (10 minutes before they open) to 9:43 AM to notify them of my tardiness. I called 6 times in that time frame. I was buying a coffee from the organic man to prepare for my scheduled services since I was not offered a beverage the last time I was in the pedicure chair. Upon walking in, this same elder lady with short hair told me I would have to wait in line after 4 customers seated in pedicure chairs because I was late. I told her I tried to call to notify of my tardiness and tried showing her my phone. I arrived at 9:53 AM and walked out at 9:54 AM. I told her it was not right that I had a scheduled appointment and that I now had to wait in order after 4 people. She rudely told me her staff of cosmetologists had not arrived for work yet. How is this my fault? The point is, yes I had an appointment, I know the owner is there before 9:30 AM to open, she or somebody could've answered my call so they'd know I was running late. My call was going to voicemail about 4 times after that. On the 6th call at 9:43 AM, another young Asian girl answers telling me it's ok that I'm late and she'll be expecting me. I believe she or someone could've mentioned to me that my appointment was lost or that my appointment wouldn't be honored as there were 4 people already at the salon. My time is valuable and calculated and I do not expect for this elder managerial woman to tell me I have to wait with everyone else and her staff has not arrived yet. I told her this is the third time it had happened to me and that I would no longer bring my service or business there. The lady's response is "Yes! Take your business somewhere else!" I walked out. I am so disappointed being the monies I spent and points I acquired there. I tried reporting this salon to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) but their salon is not listed. I have never ever been treated like this as a customer. I can honestly say I was calm, I came in with my crocheted project to work on, a large café con leche, and my bag expecting my 2 hours worth of services this morning. I am incredibly disappointed and I will discourage anyone who asks for a nail salon referral to visit this particular salon. Enclosed will be my phone calls to notify of my tardiness. I believe my calls were being ignored because it was going straight to voicemail between the first and last phone call. The second screen shot will be the # or my lyft driver who I called to pick me up to leave the salon to date/time my tardiness. This salon is greedy -- they would rather take a walk in than honor an appointment that's been booked. I told him that's not what i asked for because i had made it really clear that i wanted the French ombré and he said it was natural and sent me to pay $40!!!!!!! FORTY DOLLARS FOR THIS SHIT!!!!!!! And I asked if I could get it redone and they said I could get "50% off" so in total I would have to pay $60 for a shitty manicure!!!!! I'm sticking to my usual salon. The only reason I came here was because my usual salon was booked all weekend. This is such bullshit I don't know why anyone would ever want to come to this shitty place. Overall, I was happy with the services I received, but.....I was NOT happy about their employee (or owner) changing the price on me. I asked ahead of time how much my refill was going to be and the guy told me $28. Then, when I went to pay, he said, "oh, sorry, I told you wrong, it's $35 instead." I went ahead and paid it, but really was not happy about it. That was a very greedy thing to do to someone. He should of just honored the price he gave me. I'm very disappointed, because I really thought I had found a good nail salon to go to when I'm in Laredo, but I will not be returning to this place, because that was chickensh*t and very shady to do that to someone who has so much stress in their lives. I love this place. Wonderful ambiance and incredibly friendly staff. They have the small pedicure chair and were very helpful in offering my little one a gel manicure so her nails will last longer. The waxing could have been better, that would be my only critique. They did great with my mani pedi and I just got a regular. I'm extremely pleased that I finally found somewhere perfect. I'll definitely be going back. I appeared to be the only new customer, the staff called practically everyone who walked in by name. Im not one to leave bad reviews but they really spoiled my sister's day today. I really loved this place and always recommended to friends. I went today with my mom and sister and they left a nail polish bump on my sister's toe...no problem *or so we thought* she told the lady to please smooth it out and also to paint the full nail all the way to the edges. The lady would not respond and just got up and left her there. When brought to the attention of the one in charge she said that my sister had to understand that they had a full house and that we only paid for 25 mins. I was like "we understand" but "this was technically your fault, just because we paid for your 25 min special doesn't mean we have to get low service." Then she said that "if we wanted extra attention on our feet that next time we need to pay for more time and come more often because we needed more work."(Me to myself) **ouch! Also our feet honestly are not bad we keep up with them but I guess she needed a back up** (que mala ) also this was the nail polish we were talking about. Not our feet. ***All the time really adds is more massage time and hot rocks and wax and stuff*** she just didn't do a good job applying the nail polish. Still calm. No voices were raised or anything by both of us. All was proffesional on my end. i just said.. "but the nail polish bump was not something that should've happened even if we needed more work on our feet. Even if i had paid for an hour her nail polish applying skills were going to be the same. HORRIBLE customer service!! I'm NEVER going back!!! If I could leave no stars I would! I had been a client for several years and had never had any trouble until they decided to implement choosing a color from a cardboard display vs a bottle straight from the display. Every color I chose was "unavailable" or "ran out" and when I finally chose one the lady started putting shellac on my toes when I had asked her for regular. I kindly reminded her I wanted regular and started over on my toes but told me the color I wanted wasn't available for regular. So I chose a different color once more. She came back and continued the pedicure and by the time she got to painting the nails I noticed the color looked different than what I had asked. At first I thought maybe I had just chosen a bad color but by the time she finished I noticed the bottle she was using was NOT the number I told her. After she was done, I asked what color she put on me and told me that the reason she didn't put the one I asked was because it was mislabeled to be a green color instead of a light blue. She didn't even bother telling me that the color I wanted wasn't an option anymore. She just painted my toes whatever blue she wanted WITHOUT consulting me and just assumed I wouldn't notice. As I told the owner in the front that I was not consulted and given the wrong color, the phone rang and she quickly picked it up even though I was mid-sentence. While she was on the phone she just slid the payment amount on the table and did not even acknowledge what I was saying prior. When she got off the phone, I re-explained and she offered to repaint them for me, but I had already been there for well over an hour in a half and did not have time to spend another 30 min. to get something fixed that should not have been an error in the first place. The owner BLAMED me for not telling her sooner! How am I supposed to tell her if I'm not able to get out of my seat and she is on the other side of the nail salon?! And why is it my fault that I have other responsibilities and that I could not stay an extra 30 minutes? She STILL made me pay the FULL amount and as soon as I did just went directly to the next person. I used to recommend this place to all of my friends, but now I'm going to tell them they should NEVER go to Select Nails & Spa. read more
