I've been a chiropractor for 22 years and always wanted to bartend on the side. I finally decided…read moreto go for it to meet new people, to have a second income and mostly to add something new and exciting to my life. I just finished the 2 week bartending certification including ATAP at 1800 Bartend in Farmingdale last week. It's right next to Adventureland. The course packs a lot of information in during a short period of time. We easily learned over 100 drinks. The school is set up like a bar. Jerry the instructor is hilarious and highly entertaining. I call him the YODA of bartending. He probably could have been a comedian in another life. The class was very enjoyable, stress free and the small group size was ideal for maximum hands on practice making all the drinks. From rocks drinks, to sours, shots, martinis, and mixed drinks, we learned it all. I even made a few new friends in the class that I will be keeping in touch with. There was a guest bartending night at a bar in Coram to serve drinks if you brought friends and a test at the end of the 2 weeks to make sure you have the main drinks down. Since the class ended I have been in touch with Richard who helps the graduates with job placement. He has already given me a few leads. For the money, I learned alot and thoroughly enjoyed 1800 Bartend. I'm looking forward to starting my side hustle bartending and will keep you posted on my journey. Goals: Wind up bartending on the water in The Hamptons! Thanks again 1800 Bartend. Cheers! Dr. Max @thedrmaxshow

I learned so many techniques, drink recipes and insider tips during this short course that have helped me tremendously on the job. Plus, the class was so much fun! You're not going to learn everything in one course but having this certification has opened the door for me and I am so grateful. If your hesitant, I promise it's worth it. I made back what I spent on the tuition in two shifts at the bar! Best ROI ever.

Examples include how to do things right in order to prevent fines from the health department and mitigate the chance of making customers sick, appropriate garnishes, glassware, dishwashing, tips on how to optimize bartending efficiency, how to deal with trouble makers and the form of documentation required to protect the business. Bryan is a wonderful teacher and a really fun guy to be around. I would highly recommend this class / social club to anyone interested in any form of bartending. Whether you are a business owner looking to open a bar, someone who is trying to get into bartending as a career or hobby, or an experienced bartender looking to refine your cocktail craft, you would definitely benefit from this class.

It started off with provided finger foods such as cheese, grapes, and crackers with a glass of wine. Then we choose 3 drinks to make. All the material is provided and the instructors demonstrate how to craft the drink. The great part is that there isn't any limit on how you want to make it... So you can make it extra strong :) I think my favorite drink to make was the Negroni, as the instructor taught us several ways to make it. Overall a great experience! Left very happy and tipsy.

This class is absolutely terrible. Waste of 300 bucks you might as well go and buy a bartending…read morebook and study that because thats exactly what you will be doing. The instructor is a guy named Dennis who is perverted and says terrible uncomfortable jokes and also has an attitude the entire day. He tells you how to make a drink in 10 minutes (and then makes you write down these stupid ass codes that he thinks are wonderful) down for you to memorize. He says you have to complete 40 hours and I literally went for 3 days (24 hours) and told me that I was ready to take the exam. Then he gave me an attitude when I told him im not ready so I showed up after spending all night studying (because who the hell whats to lose 300 hard earned dollars) just so that he can tell me to go home because im not ready! He definitely finds joy in being an asshole. So I took the exam and unfortunately wasn't prepared and I didnt even go back he can keep the 300$. Dont go to this garbage unprofessional school. Spend another 300 and go to the city where you will actually learn something. I really hope they close this place down because it is a scam. He acts like hes paying you to be there.
