    Our first bartending class!
    Bernadette C.

I just went to NY Bartending School for the "free trial" class as I have been wanting to go for a bartending license at least for fun for some time. As a heads up, the free trial class consists of one of their teachers talking on a PowerPoint on selling you to pay them to come take their classes and there's not much actual hands on stuff you get to do. You partner with someone else and each of you learn how to make one cocktail. My partner made a cosmopolitan and I made a chocolate martini. You do learn some useful tips like how to pour a proper ounce and how to shake, but if you're looking for something more hands on, you likely will have to cough up the cash. I decided to put down the $70 deposit to "lock in" their special rate, which I am 99% sure is a gimmick to close the deal to make you sign up before you leave. I doubt the rate is any different from any other time, but regardless, I have been wanting to do it for a long time anyway, so worst case scenario is that I lose the $70 if I never take the actual course. If you are on the fence about this place versus other schools, don't get pressured into signing up here. Definitely do your due diligence before you spend the cash. It's around $700 for the course, so you better make sure you want to do it!

The bartender I hired was extremely helpful from setup all the way to cleanup. So many of my friends complimented me on the bartender's drinks, they were absolutely delicious! Although there were a lot of moving parts and guests at my party, the bartender was able to make drinks really quickly and really helped with the atmosphere. She was super knowledgeable about the drinks, arrived early, and wore professional attire. She had all the materials necessary for making drinks, and she was super professional from start to finish. Can't recommend CBA enough for their incredible service and professionalism! Will definitely hire again from them for future events, and it's amazing how all the bartenders are college students too.

We were supplied with aprons and name tags and worked in teams and chatted while chopping, seasoning and cooking. I really enjoyed the experience, but in the future would choose a class with a more substantial output. The Latkes and Sufganiyot were both fried carbs, and we ended up grabbing dinner immediately after because we were still hungry for a real meal. Other than that, would recommend!

The very first day it took 3 hours to get situated into a class because the substitute (Ms. N) for the original instructor (Mr. Ortiz) was not ready for the class. She couldn't get a hold of a computer to print the materials. In those 3 hours I was still waiting at the reception area for them to find out which class I was registered to. On the very first day we were told that we would be ready for the midterms, the final and the NHA Exam by the end of the course. So of course my expectations were high. I was not on the roster until week 3. I had to write my name under everyone else and take pictures for proof just incase they tried to say I was not attending. The first 2 weeks we did not have the correct instructor. We never started the classes on time. I learned more in class about war and about the teacher and her personal problems than I did about drawing blood or placing electrodes on a patient. If we were given a test on her life we would ace it. I had to skip lunch break stay in the classroom and teach myself. I had to go home and break night going to sleep around 2-3 am teaching myself because we were not learning anything in class. We took more breaks than we read chapters. When it came to reviewing for the tests and midterms Ms. N would just go through the test itself and basically give us the answer instead of giving us material to study from. Ms. N is very knowledgeable but she is clearly not ready to be an instructor. Then finally the correct instructor came for the last 2 weeks. I was expecting for the students to get some of their money back since there was a substitute for the first 2 weeks (because to request Mr. Ortiz you have to pay extra). Ortiz is definitely a better instructor. He is detailed, organized and straight to the point. But the curriculum forces them to only teach what is going to be on their test/midterm/final. We never finished the book. We left over 3 to 4 Chapters in both the EKG and Phlebotomy books untouched. We even had to redo both the quiz and the midterm. Me teaching myself by reading the books, making notes and preparing a study guide on things I thought were going to be on the exams assured that I pass both classes without having to cheat like the majority of both classes did. This training center is good at teaching how to perform the tasks of drawing blood and placing electrodes for an ekg but not good at preparing students for the exams. Some students were not well prepared or knowledgeable and somehow managed to be certified. I finished my 4 weeks not ready for the NHA which we were told they would prepare us for. For the amount of money I had to pay for this course I can truly say it was not worth it. I really believe it's very unfair that we were not refunded some of our money back. Oh and the certificates come together as one certificate, you have to pay to have 2 individual certificates imagine how money hungry this "school" really is without providing quality. I would not recommend.

Great Customer Service, Amazing Views and Chill Atmosphere!…read more We made reservations for my friend's birthday on 6/28 and this was one of the best overall experiences ever. Caio was very friendly and knowledgeable when it came on to the food and the drinks, he was also very entertaining and had great comedic timing. Camila was attentive, she came over to us and asked how everything was going and continued to check on us throughout the night. Even though it was super busy the staff remained friendly. The food was good, the portion sizes weren't big but were just right. The wings are not jumbo and the Truffle fries need to be tweaked, maybe change the recipe or call it fries with Parmesan cheese. As far as the drinks, the cocktail pouches were a hit. We had 2 each including two additional shots. This place is good for a happy hour, lunch, brunch, date, chill spot, etc. The views of the city were great, it's social media friendly with a lot of picture opportunities, they also have jumbo games such as Jenga, Connect Four and Cards. Overall it was a great night out. As far as the price point, multiple drinks will bring a hefty tab but that goes for most of the city.

You can also rent cabanas for larger groups and they have optional packages that can be reserved as well. They have a live DJ, music was great they played a mixture of new music along with older music for the more mature audience like my husband and myself. Everything was great for us, we truly enjoyed the change of atmosphere and crowd. If you are looking for a quiet place to have a conversation, I would not recommend this place. It's very loud, but in a fun way. Some people brought children, I personally would not recommend this unless you don't mind the drinking, yelling and smoking. Our food was good but the menu could have more dining options. I personally feel this place is catered more to people that are looking to have a light meal with plenty of drink options. It's more of a drink and socialize place. Again we LOVED it, because it was a change of scenery for us. The downside is that there is no restroom within the restaurant. You have to walk outside the restaurant to the end of the dock to use the public restrooms which normally has a very long line. This isn't ideal. Overall great experience. We checked out to the tune of a 200+ bill. The alcoholic drinks were pricey rolling in at $86 before taxes for four drinks.
