Sigh...I've had my eye on these babies for a while - the fits and cuts are really perfect and the variety in colors and patterns is classic but fun - like Ralph Lauren sensibilities with a Viktor and Rolf sense of style. I was so disappointed when I couldn't find anything my size at the Sample Sale, so I just had to wander back down the street to the actual store and try things on. *overdue review, no time - want to forget experience* Ordered a shirt from their website (I am in N. California). I wouldn't recommend it. Better to drive down the street and throw money out your window. Go, get a coffee - this is an ordeal. The shirt I ordered was a 17x35 (I have worn a 16.5x35 since I was 18) The shirt arrived and while the fabric was cool, the sleeves were short. REALLY short, above my wrist bone. I emailed SSV and explained the situation. Erica instructed me to measure the sleeves ("just to be sure" ) Erica said if they did not measure 35" we would work out an exchange (this particular shirt was out of stock). Okay, even though I was bummed as this fabric was cool, I figured that was fair. I measured and the sleeves were 33.5", I packed up/shipped (on my $) the shirt and let Erica know it was on its way, expecting to have it exchanged. Erica responded with: "Once we receive the shirt, we'll take a look at it. If the sleeves measure less than 35", we'll forward you photos of what's in stock so you can pick out a replacement." Not really understanding how this "measure" can be in question - As I understand it a 1 inch unit of measure is not really open for negotiation? We are not talking theoretical math here. Imagine my reaction when I received this communication from Erica: "I received the package today. My tailor and I took a look at the shirt and the sleeves measure 35"." Oh, I see! My measuring tape is wrong. And every shirt in my closet, and every shirt I have every worn must have been measured incorrectly. My bad. I tried to explain this as graciously as I could, and I received this response: "The sleeves on the shirt were measured by our tailor, who does custom clothing. The sleeves measured 35". "Because we did not see a defect in the shirt, we shipped it back to you and can not offer an exchange or refund." Seriously? Seriously. For the love of pete, why would I pay $$ in shipping charges to to return a shirt that is my size. So way to much grief and $$$ later I have nada. Takeaway: Genuine Quality and Cool - not to be found at Seize sur Vingt. Keep walking. read more

This review is 2 years overdue, but that also means I've had 2 years to reflect on the money on a suit at SSV. I've gotten a lot of compliments on my suit jacket, and it does look pretty good. After a year of very light wear, however, I noticed little fuzzy balls building up on the inside of my jacket (much like what happens to cheap cotton when its been exposed to friction). The pants didnt fit well when i got them, and they altered them twice. After two alterations, they still didnt look right, at which point, Kareem, the main dude, told me that I was looking at them too hard, which I find to be an unacceptable response given SSV's prices and the fact that it's a custom made suit. Anyway, if you'e in the market for a cool looking suit, I'd suggest anywhere other than here. My brother got a suit here too at the same time and he's not thrilled either. I recommend mysuitny.com as an alternative. you'll look better and pay less than 1/3 the price. read more

French for "sixteen over twenty", Seize sur Vingt is a reference to academic marks for french schoolchildren, but as far as I'm concerned, these shirts score a full-on twenty. If I'm in a rumpled "I like style but refuse to try too hard" mood, I throw on a Steven Alan. But when I want to look sharply turned out, I reach for a 16sur20. These shirts leave no room for misinterpretation; they say "Yeah, I care about what I wear and I own it. Maybe I have a butler who presses my shirts or maybe I got up an extra ten minutes today to do it myself, but it's worth it so you can admire the way this shirt wears my body perfectly." And they say it in Italian which is way sexier. The only downside to this shop is that some of the staff seems bored and humorless. I'd ask for Karim or (I think his name is) Richie. read more

There is really no other option in the city for me that matches the elegance of one of the perfectly fitted shirts that this wonderful shop has to offer. Go speak to Kareem, Richie, or any other one of the highly knowledgeable staff there and ask them to gently guide you toward your style of choice. You'll be happy you did because the clothing and shoes here are well worth the price for the quality-- and when you finally decide to make that major career move, thank yourself for not shopping anywhere else. Is it really worth it? I find that I wear my clothing from SSV more than any other and feel confident knowing I made a solid purchase! Great patterns, but terrible service and tons of attitude. i bought 4 shirts after being advised on fit from sales guy. After first laundering, none of them fit. When I showed them to snooty salesperson, his first question was whether i had put on weight (mind you this was 4 weeks later). Then said he'd give me a "special discount" of 20% if I wanted to buy a larger size but he couldn't do any better than that. Of course they sell their shirts for 50% of discount sites like Gilt Groupe (where I bought first shirt). They are a caricature of a faux French brand. read more

I swung by here for a party last night and they really did a bang up job putting it together. There was an open bar, free magazines from Vice magazine, free chocolate, a professional photographer working the room, and my friends were very excited to see that some guy from the Real World was in attendance! lol. They also had a dj booth setup and people were able to hang out in the changing areas as a further extension of the event, with nice mirror setups. I've been outfitted by Seize sur Vingt since 2009, both MTM and off the rack. Their taste and execution are superb. They epitomize fashion over fad; the fabrics and patterns are reliably current without having a short shelf life. I also can't say enough good things about the service and the team. They have never let me down, even on short notice and difficult decisions about cut and fit. I'm shocked by some of the (few) bad reviews here on Yelp, the writers must think they're shopping at Kohls and can return trashed clothing. Seize sur Vingt is one of the few places I've found that combines excellent product, excellent service, and a reliably distinctive take on what to wear. I love them. read more

A simple plain classic color button down shirt can be transformed into something interesting just by having the right fit. This is where these guys come in, with their expertise in razor sharp tailoring and being able to bend into the customer's needs and trends. You get measured, select the fabric you want, trimmings, buttons and cut. You'll have to wait at least a month before you get your piece since everything is shipped out and done in Italy. They will keep your measurements on file since you'll be coming back for more. read more

Good fabrics + terrible customer service = not worth it Bought a first shirt there a couple of weeks ago and had it (at the store tailor's suggestion) darted to take it in a bit. Came back a week later and the alteration was awful - very aggressively taken in and more form-fitting than I would ever wear. Clearly I was unhappy, the shirt looked awful around the mid-section, but the store never wavered from a "Customer is always wrong" policy. Never once acknowledged that there could be any problem on their side (poor initial advice, tailoring issue). I practically had to beg for their ultimate resolution - 15% off a new shirt -- which I declined. I recognize this is a tough situation - the tailored shirt can't possibly be re-sold (unless they find a man who looks like a sharply angled triangle!). But what was worst was their immediate "your problem" attitude. Certainly not what I expected for a $215 per shirt experience. And certainly not my new regular shirtmaker! read more

I went to Seize sur Vingt for the first time when I was desperately looking for a gift for my boyfriend's birthday. The staff was very helpful and efficient. I bought a shirt, a tie and cuff links. My boyfriend loved them but the shirt was too big, we went back together and they changed it right away. The fit and the quality of the shirt are amazing. If you're going to buy a suit or shirts don't look anywhere else. I own 3 suits, a jacket and over a dozen shirts from Seize. Yes you pay a premium, but you get what you pay for. The shirts wear like steel, look great and can go with a suit, jacket or jeans. The fit and finish on all three suits are incredible and I receive a compliment almost every time I wear them. my six sur vignt shirts arrived and are terrific. made to measure is worth the reach! i used to spend $150-$200/shirt and probably 50/50 would make it past 10 wears. with made to measure at $200-$350 100% get to 100 wears. my first batch of 12 shirts from six sur vignt have lasted me 4 years as my go to shirts. it's a process to get them but once you do; its more than worth it. i had previously posted a very bad review about the process of getting them. i've since spoken to the manager a few times and he has been terrific. so i am back as a loyal customer and excited to get the same amazing wear out of new order. read more

If you ever want to return stuff to this store, you would find out how RUDE this store's people could be! My sister bought a $800+/- jacket and some other stuff from this store. The jacket was for her boyfriend. But the next day when he tried it no. I noticed that there was a snag/defect. So we brought the jacket back. Those two RUDE sales people said that was the only one, and no exchange/return. They claimed that "once you put it on for 1 SECOND, it means you HAVE WORN it. so NO EXCHANGE/RETURN." That was exact the sentences that they said to me. I never met such rude people before in my life. I asked them whether they are religious and whether they believe in god. They said they are Catholic and they went to church every week. How come they even lie about their religion? How come they even lie about it just for STEALING MONEY from customers who trust them? Be prepared to throw your wallet away, if you still want to throw money to those LIARS! read more
