The only gu store in the US. So I have got to go and get some clothes. Good selection of clothes. The men's selection is downstairs. I got a good amount of clothes for the price I paid and I'm pretty happy.

Expansive store with a lot of nice premium fabrics and plenty of decently priced products. Staff are very polite and non-intrusive. Lots of different color choices for all kinds of clothes. Medium traffic midday, no long lines at checkout.

I decided to check out GU since I heard it was Uniqlo's sister brand, and Uniqlo is one of my favorite stores. As of now, you can only buy clothes from the physical GU store. The Instagram page (@gu_usa_official) is how you can find out what promotions are going on. GU has a similar vibe to Uniqlo, but the clothes are cheaper and slightly lower quality. Mostly basics and some accessories. The clothes are still of decent quality though! The inside is more cramped, like a typical NYC store, compared to the massive Uniqlo locations nearby. I didn't like how the fitting rooms and checkout lines were right next to each other, which caused confusion and congestion. Also, because of the space constraints, the product layouts and corresponding price labels were confusing. For example, there would be a couple style of pants in the same vicinity, but the location of the price label was unclear as to which style it assigned to. All in all, while I do prefer Uniqlo, GU is still worth checking out, especially if you are in the market for more affordable options.

I'm a fan of Uniqlo. Decent clothes without all the name brand fuss. Just down to earth comfortable clothes. It's the sister brand to Uniqlo, so the size, fit and style are in line with what I expected. Was excited to be able to come check it out. The place was busy despite the cold weather. It's not a huge store. There is a men's section downstairs. Lots of people coming in and out. Long lines to the fitting room. There were a few things I wanted to get but managed to talk myself out of it. At the moment there are a few things Harry Potter themed or Japanese cartoon related. If you're interested, I would recommend checking it out. Will check back next season...

Uniqlo's young brother has opened in SOHO a few days ago. This Japanese fashion place is just like Uniqlo but carry limited items. Maybe too limited and too similar to Uniqlo. Prices are even better/cheaper than the brother but looks as good. Very pleasant staffs work there.

However many may be put off by Uniqlo's more structured, tailored, monochrome, basic essential pieces.

FIRE OR RETRAIN YOUR SECURITY GUARD…read more My boyfriend and I stopped by this store with one goal in mind: buy a couple of tshirts that only this store has. We ring the doorbell, as the sign says, and out comes the security guard who says the store is at capacity. My boyfriend looks over his shoulder and says there's only 5 people inside. To which the security guard replies "do you understand how shopping works?" ....... Um yes we do.... That's why we are trying to visit this store to buy a shirt....from a clothing store? He finally lets us in after someone leaves. The store now has 6 people total. We enter and immediately my boyfriend sees the shirts that he planned to buy. The shirts are in a plastic sleeve and he is only touching the fabric. He's not taking the shirt outside. The security guard comes over and tells him if he needs help. To which my boyfriend responses "no, I just wanted to know how the shirt felt". The security guard then says he can't take the shirt out of the packaging and my boyfriend responds "yeah I'm not." The security guard then calls a staff member to help my boyfriend out. Remember, this is a SECURITY GUARD. He's occupation and attention should be on managing the front door. We then speak with the staff and my boyfriend's asks for a size L and they say they only have a size M but he can try it on. And then proceeds to walk us to the back of the store and tell us to stand in line. My boyfriend and I are midway through the store and we are contemplating if we should wait in line. I'm not exaggerating when I say the security guard leaves his station and comes straight to boyfriend and then proceeds to tell him he can't be at the back of the store because they are at capacity. There's 4 people in the back! My boyfriend explains the staff brought us here and said to stand in line for the fitting room. The security guard then speaks over my boyfriends, says we can't be here and belittles him. Another staff member gets involved trying to deescalate the situation and says he's sorry. The security guard should have informed the staff if there was a policy in place. I sincerely ask him if this is a normal experience to be followed and harassed by a security guard? My boyfriend tells the security guard that he made shopping here very unpleasant. I cannot express enough to not come here. If you are looking to browse, or with any intention of buying, go somewhere else.
