On our cross-country road trip we needed a place to eat en route to Nashville, and hadn't had any Chinese food for several days. So, I asked Diane to see if any good Chinese restaurants near us appeared on Yelp. She found two highly rated establishments, and from them I selected See's. Amazingly, the restaurant was located only a couple of blocks from the Vicksburg Battlefield, which I would very much have liked to see. But it was pitch-black outside around 9:00 p.m. So, there was nothing visible to see except the illuminated restaurant situated on a frontage road. Our Cantonese dinner was a welcome gustatory change of pace for us. Diane concentrated on 8 Cantonese Fried Shrimp, while I began with 8 large Pork Panfried Dumplings and a bowl of tasty Hot & Sour Soup with Crispy Soup Noodles. I was surprised to receive only one Egg Roll, but it was massive and filling, containing both shrimp and vegetables. For the Potstickers I received requested Chinese Chili Oil and a fruity Sweet & Sour Sauce plus an interesting Duck Sauce which had been previously unknown to me. For my main I was pleased to receive fresh, hot and juicy Chicken Chow Mein accompanied by Steamed White Rice. Service was good. The dining room was rather plain but clean. So Katrina and I had been on the road for like 8 hours driving in from Texas to visit Family. Stop in and eat with us, we're at See's. Clean but nothing too exciting as far as the vibe of the place. Waiter was in my opinion was a little bit in a rush. He was attentive and took care of the whole table pretty good. Katrina and I ordered regular food from the menu verses the hibachi like the rest of the group. Maybe the food from hibachi would have been little more fresh and flavorful. No pictures, again tired from 8 hour road trip. So maybe next time. Our thought is if I'm going to pay $40 for a meal. It should be better than what I can make at home. It was not. Food was excellent but take out is a disaster. Ordered my food, set time to pick up on their site and arrived to a huge takeout line. Was told 10 minutes. After 20 minutes passed I asked and was told 5 minutes. After ten minutes passed I was greeted by the manager. She noticed that I had been there quite a while. 15 minutes later got my food. My step father loves this places and when I was in town, he requested we eat out at See's. He enjoyed his meal very much; however, for me, it was very unpleasant to eat. My General Tao's Chicken was mostly sugar. I did not taste the sesame oil, peppers, or soy sauce I typically expect for that dish. I also ordered it spicy, but I did not get any heat from the dish. Maybe it was forgotten? My sister, who lives in the area, also said she did not care for the food either. Ate here for the first time tonight. Takeout of course. The atmosphere was nice when I was picking up my food. Customer service was excellent. I ordered combination fried rice, crab ragoons and fried chicken wings. The rice was very tasteful! The ragoons were amazing. Excellent flavor and texture. However, the chicken wings were weird. We went for lunch and picked from the specials. There were only a few choices not fried (I should not eat wheat) but they were done very well. The staff were nice but mostly intent on getting the food out. The dining room was spacious, clean, and bright compared others I have visited. You chose your main entree, and each one came with a choice of soup, a choice of rice, and a choice between another side item. My orange chicken was good, but it came drenched in sauce. The five other dishes in our group were not as bad. The fried rice was well cooked, as well as the crab rangoon. The hot and sour soup was my favorite part. Disappointed that they didn't have Rootbeer, but then I seen they had can ones in the cooler up front We ordered Egg Drop soup for our girls and a California Roll for us and shared the Scallops and New York Steak with fried rice that came with a soup and salad. This place has really gone down. Food bad. Staff awful. The staff actually got in a fight in front of me. I had to send my food back once. This used to be my favorite restaurant, but I doubt I'll ever go back. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant here in Vicksburg. They egg rolls are the best in town. I love their soup they serve with the hibachi. I have eaten quite a lot from here and have not found anything that I have not liked. The sushi can get a little pricey but you still get your money's worth. I do like their hibachi lunch specials. Again, you get a lot of food for the price so you do not walk away hungry at all. read more
