My issue is with the billing practices. The practice makes patients pay up front before ever sitting in the chair. As in, I was paying the bill at check in. This means I'm paying for services that have not been rendered yet and I've had situations where my insurance has provided coverage so I paid for services out of pocket that I shouldn't have had to. They did send a refund but deducted money for other items they said were on my account. It felt sketchy. I find I have to watch the billing like a hawk and honestly I'm so utterly frustrated and flabbergasted by the business aspect of the practices I left. There are plenty of dentists who do good work and run a different business model that takes care of patients. I always left feeling that practice took care of their bank account before patients. When I questioned the billing practices I was told that's how most dentists do things now and that's blatantly not true.

I went for my first visit, got x-rays, and was told that I would only need a crown, not a root canal. I went in for the crown. After receiving several injections of novocaine, I still had pain. The dentist was annoyed, and acted doubtful that I was actually in pain. He started to grind my tooth. I still had pain. He took another x-ray. Whoops! Turns out, a grey shadow was rotten tooth, and in grinding on it, he had exposed a nerve. I was now in searing pain. The novocaine hadn't worked because my nerve was being poked. I was immediately referred to an endodontist down the street. He had to do a partial root canal, destroying the exposed nerve. The root canal was finished a few weeks later. The day after the completed root canal, I went back to the office to get my crown. I show up, waiting to be seen. A front desk person comes up to me and tells me that, whoops! They are NOT actually in network, and my crown won't be covered, and would I like to pay $1,500 out of pocket instead? No thanks, I replied. I received a refund for my $600 co-pay a couple of weeks later. Fast forward several months later, and come to find out, the root canal was not covered either. When I was referred to the endodontist, by this office, my coverage was apparently not a concern. I wouldn't have needed to go to this endodontist immediately, had the dentist not exposed my nerve. Prior to this, I had no pain, and could have waited to get a root canal from an in network provider. See what I mean? Nightmare.

They were great at communicating with me, and even contacted me the day of my appointment to see if I could come in earlier! Mallory did my cleaning and she was very thorough, and also super friendly! Dr. Papadopoulos was very friendly as well when he came in for my checkup. Overall, I felt very comfortable with the office/staff and very confident in their skills. And they are so conveniently located! Right on the C line, which is perfect for me. I do wish they took evening and/or weekend appointments though...

A friend recommended Beacon Place Dental Group, so I decided to schedule an appointment. The woman at the front desk was extremely friendly, and I found the office very clean and inviting. She even offered to help me fill out the initial paper work as a first-time patient. The hygienist (Mallory, I believe?) was friendly, gave a thorough cleaning, and overall made it a pleasant experience. I'd recommend anyone new to the area (or just looking for a new dental office) to give them a call. I know I'll be back in 6 months for my next cleaning.

I was blown away with the amount of TLC they provide to their patients! If you need anything from veneers, Invisalign, and any dental work, only go here if you want to be pampered! They offered me a warm neck pillow, a blanket, sparkling or still water, Vaseline on lips so they don't chap, and more, every single visit....WOW!!! Most importantly, you have a great dentist who (I think) is like a great artist and very GENTLE and knowledgeable. My whole family has been regular patients in this place. Recently, we received a very rude reminder about dental cleaning and a threatening message that if we don't schedule our last cleaning for the fiscal year, our account will be deactivated! What is that supposed to mean? I don't understand what kind of business this place is running if they think these kind of messages are going to bring more clients?! Quite the opposite! It is unheard of hygiene appointments to be required so patients can keep their account active! Usually, dental facilities and private offices send friendly reminders for the patients to take advantage of a covered by insurance dental cleaning since there are only 2 per year. The manager needs to really apologize to all patients who received this kind of unpleasant email or text message as this is really unprofessional and totally unacceptable! After all, there are at least 30 other dental offices in the areas near by Newton Corner, Watertown, Brighton and Waltham. This kind of treatment of the patients would completely drive them away! I found Beacon Dental (as it was called then) which was run by Dr. Zabinsky, who I found quirky and charming. A year after winning me over, he sold his practice and Dr. Shah-Hosseini took over. I'm not someone who loves change, so I wasn't thrilled about my third new dentist in a two year period, but I immediately liked Dr. SH. She's efficient, thorough, and really very sweet. She makes potentially painful procedures easy. I particularly love the hygienist in the office, and Dr. SH's assistant, who would always put me at ease in those moments of anxiety before any dental procedure. Small note - I also love that it's super easy to get there (right on the Green C Line) and that there's TONS of parking. Here's to making life easy.

Office futuristic and everyone is super professional. Went to get an implant placed. It was a bit on the pricey side and had to postpone, but in the process Dr Nevine discovered an issue with another of my tooth and recommended to take care of it with my primary doctor. Till this day thankful to him for saving my tooth, the issue was one of the root canals done 7-8 years back started to decays inside. My primary doctor couldn't see anything wrong with their equipment I insisted and provided the scan from Dr Nevine. Dr Alyassi from BD performed the procedure and after opening the canals found that we were literally couple of months away from this tooth being a goner. His work is thorough and I always get out within a half hour or less depending on the procedure. His practice is immaculate and his staff is kind, efficient and makes you feel very welcome. Dr. Shabazian is wonderful with kids and has always been so patient with my daughter especially when she was younger.
