While the baked goods are the main draw, the cafe has a full menu and the space itself is warm & open: a smaller dining area tucked on one side, a large space in the center filled with tables, and a generous bank of stools at the large glass storefront for work or study, plus a few self-service tables on the sidewalk. Dutch Baby is a space clearly beloved by its neighbors--while popular with families and childcare workers w/their charges after school, it never gets too raucous. There's floor space for both wheelchairs and strollers (while the main entry has a few shallow steps, a second door in the middle of the cafe provides accessible entry for those using wheelchairs). For my meal, I ordered the Steak and Eggs, adding Truffle Fries, which were an additional $5. This also came with a small side salad topped with radishes. The Steak was tender, wonderfully juicy, and flavorful. Eggs were cooked over hard, just how I like them and made expertly. After a few minutes, the hostess/bartender came up to us and, while bringing us to the table, abruptly dropped the menus on the tables and walked away. Nothing was ever said on her part, not even her name. This was just one of many incidents that happened with her throughout the night.  Her customer service was awful with every encounter. She was always short and had a tone. I ordered the mushroom and waffle plate which arrived cold and tasted as if something in it was spoiled. After telling her that I did not want this plate, she grabbed my food and again just walked away without a word. She then returns to our table to say that she tasted my plate and that is how it is supposed to taste. I found this to be extremely disrespectful and rude on her part.  Towards the end of this awful experience our hostess/bartender changes her shift with a different waitress and no one ever communicates this to us. At this point, we are ready to leave as soon as possible. When we finally received our check, there was a 20% gratuity automatically added to our bill of only three guests. Again, this vital detail was never communicated with us. I mention the detail that we were the only party that was of color - I'm  unsure if that had something to do with it. Same for the roasted half chicken, it looked great, the sauce was great, but the chicken was overdone and dry. The bread pudding was so so. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM was that Daniel left after the dinner came. Eventually a young lady came around to our table. She never introduced herself, but the ticket said Nyla. She literally never would clear the table. I cleared several big plates and put them on an empty table next to us. Those empty plates were there when we left. The plates with pizza crust and the finished bowl of lentil soup were also still there. She never brought the bill. I had to flag her down to get it. Then I had to get up to go pay.
