Garrison Platter

I think the last time I ate here was during the shut down and hadn't been back since. Grabbed a solo brunch after an appointment nearby and I'm mad I haven't been back sooner. Ordered the garrison platter and it didn't disappoint. The pancake was delicious. I wish more restaurants would use warm syrup and let the butter melt in it but that's just a personal preference haha (they don't do that here btw just think it would take the pancake to the next level) I wasn't a big fan of the bacon but overall enjoyed it and would order again. Maybe try the sausage or see what alternatives are available. Definitely seems like a local staple with a constant stream of folks coming in. Chill vibes. No unlimited brunch if that's what you're looking for but great food!

The Uptown Garrison with its vintage look of subway tiles and industrial metal caged pendant lamps, gives this bar/restaurant a rustic feel. A vibe that encourages social interaction or read a book and chill. No distracting flat screens here. Grabbing seats at the L-Shaped bar, we were greeted by our mixologist for the evening, 'Alecia'. I am fairly simple when it comes to my adult beverage of choice. A bold Red, a crisp dry White, Prosecco or Champagne. No Rosès, Gewurtztraminer's or Moscatos. Nothing sweet for me. As The Garrison is known for their craft cocktails, I opted for the, 'Nose Goes!' A Wasabi infused something with Gin, adorned with a "Seaweed Snack" attached to the side of the glass with the teeniest clothespin I've ever seen. Cool presentation. The combination of Wasabi and Gin kicked me upside my head... Strong AF!! Whilst simultaneously tricking me to believe I was eating sushi. WTF! Now I freaking wanted Sushi, which they don't sell. My head was all over the place! The mixologists creativity was ingenious! Appetites now open, we chose some tasty apps. Charcuterie is a must when available. So the Cheese and Meat Plate it is, served with these infused diced apples, which we thought were some other fruit. Trying to test how great our palates were...Are these Pears? Plums? We couldn't identify the fruit. Okay we give up! We were told they were apples, we all were way off. Lol!! We also ordered the Eggplant Ragu Croquettes, a bit soft but very tasty and lastly the sweet, savory Piggyback Dates. All good choices. The Uptown Garrison offered a chill atmosphere, chill music and chill personnel, for this Saturday afternoon January brunch, bar hopping pitstop with the Uptown Crew. TIP: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner served daily Brunch (Table Service): Fri-Sun 10:00am-4:00pm Happy Hour (Bar Only): Mon - Fri 4:00pm-6:00pm

If you can't get into Dutch Baby and don't want to wait, come here. Uptown Garrison is only 6 blocks away from another brunch spot, Dutch Baby but the vibe is drastically different. Dutch Baby also doubles as a (delicious) bakery but the brunch times there can be very overcrowded and chaotic. Uptown Garrison serves brunch and also doubles as a cafe. I've come for traditional brunch on the weekend and also have come during the week for their cafe/brunch service. On weekdays, you order at the barista counter instead of a server coming over. They do serve the full menu of brunch if you order at the barista counter. I haven't come for dinner yet but I'd like to. Service is always good and food comes out pretty quickly. The food is a decent, affordable brunch and not much different than the brunch you'll get at Dutch Baby (and you'll get less of a headache trying to get a table). I've had the egg sandwich and avocado toast and have no complaints. The brunch isn't anything outstanding or different here but it's a solid place to come. They have pastries but I think they are made out of house and brought in by a third party. If you want a solid brunch without the chaos of Dutch Baby in the same neighborhood, Uptown Garrison is a solid choice. The entrance appears to be accessible for wheelchair users. The bathroom also seems to be compliant for accessibility. The second half of the restaurant is accessible via a small staircase but the other half does not require use of stairs at all. Also a good place for large groups as there's plenty of space. There is also bar seating if you're coming solo.

My shakshuka rating: 7/10 I went for brunch with family and was deciding between the shakshuka and the fried chicken and waffles. Don't think twice-- order the chicken and waffles (unless you're vegetarian). (The presentation of the shakshuka looked better than my pics. I mixed it around before taking the pics) The egg in the shakshuka was cooked all the way, so don't expect a runny egg. There was also a lot of peppers, which didn't bother me at first, but near the end, it felt like a lot. So unless you love peppers, go for it. You also get served a side of bread, which helps. But let me tell you-- I kept wishing I ordered the chicken and waffles! From what I tasted off my relative's plate, it was slightly spicy, and the chicken could've been seasoned more, but it was very satisfying. The Royal Blue early grey was delicious and not as sweet as I thought it would be. But a good chill drink Re: Ambiance-- It was a pretty busy Sunday early afternoon, and it was pretty busy and kind of loud. But a good time all around. Service was also super friendly and welcoming. .

Had a get together and decided to do it here. The drinks were really good. The bartender knew her cocktails. The ambience was nice. The pizza were delicious but the calzones left alot to be desired. Will definitely go back for drinks and maybe try a burger this time.....

Four of us enjoyed pizza here last evening. Staff was very courteous and friendly and we received prompt service as well. All food received was very good and ingredients were very fresh. We would visit again another time.

The pizza was delicious!!!! The chili honey added that extra oomf to the pizza. The eggplant croquettes were surprisingly good. Not the biggest fan of eggplant but this dish turned out different. Olivia our server was great!!!! The ambiance is relaxed, dark, and low key. The host was nice and sat us down right away.

I like how the bar is in the center surrounded by the tables for regular table service. I'm new to the area so this could be a spot for me to pop into occasionally!! Fernando and Melissa made my first visit worth it!!! Thank you both!!!!! Here again on a Wednesday night and the vibe is so chill and the bartender Ashley was so welcoming; love her soul!!! Thank you for the service Queen!! I will be back again soon especially since living in the area now!! Great staff and hospitality both times here!! I highly recommend!! Meagan is a vibe too!!!! They were good and the drinks were flowing. We did order the sampler and was overwhelmed by the size of the thing. The platter took the entire table. It came w curly fries, wings, nachos, mozz sticks and loaded fries...all delicious and we destroyed the platter. Good vibes and chill. It was my first time here but id definitely come back! Highly recommended

The meat and cheese board was cool and had a good variety of things. The pretzel was freshly baked, but while the salt was very pretty, it was a bit too much so me and my other friend kept shaking off the extra salt before eating lol. The whiskey brownie contained ACTUAL whiskey in it to my surprise lol, a little too much for me but I'm sure alcohol lovers would like this dessert. There's also some games that you can borrow from the restaurant to play with your friends, we played uno! I wouldn't go out of my way to make a special trip here but if you're looking for a place to meet in a casual setting in Washington Heights, this is a good spot for that.

In my experience, some weekday nights it'll be empty and I get to take my time talking to and chilling with all the ladies there. They have always been kind and friendly and of service and I can't recall ever having a bad night there. Much better than some strip clubs I've been to in NYC. There is no cover charge and a shot and a beer used to cost $10 it is now $12 due to inflation. I usually tip the girls the other $8 while they dance and twerk on the table. They have a juke box and a juke box app where you can play some music for the ladies to dance to, I think it's like $5 for 3 or 5 songs. Being the budget friendly place it is makes it easier to spend a little more time and money there and come back to visit again. Maybe because I'm a recognizable regular I have had good experiences with the security/bouncers, always greeted with a dap and standard pat down and still explained the rules (no pictures and no touching the women). One time I had a small situation with a drunk guy sitting next to me at the bar who was getting slightly disrespectful and annoying, I told the bouncer what was going on and he got me over to the nicer private corner and handled the guy. The owner Manny can be stern at times but I always greet him and he always greets me. I just get my drinks and talk/flirt the ladies on a chill vibe and I'm good. I always bring males and female friends when I can. I've taken girls there on two different occasions and the bartender/dancers showed them mad love telling them they were pretty etc. Definitely a good place to end your night at!
