I am almost 30 years old and Terra Dill is the first person I have ever had repeatedly do my hair…read more She is GREAT!! It must be said, I don't have easy hair, it is very thick and naturally very curly, so most people cannot cut it correctly, but Terra does. She is super sweet and friendly. Avalon in general is a really nice set up, you walk in and it is a building filled with suites for every service you can imagine. The nice part about it, is you feel like you are going to an old friend, because everyone there is their own business (kind of like a farmers market of beauty!). I've been in wedding parties that have gone and so I've actually met several of the ladies there, but of course Terra is my favorite. Just a note, everyone there takes credit cards, but since this is a small business, if you can pay with check or cash, it helps them avoid the additional fees for credit cards. (they are all too nice to mention it, but it is a nice gesture if you can remember to do it.)

I went in to see Tiffany Ngyuen for my cut & color on 11/20 at 11am. I left at 5pm. She cut it much…read moreshorter than I asked. I asked for long layers, yet she layered it heavily. I showed a picture of a darker brown with copper color underneath. The color had to be redone 3 times. My negative review isn't even about the color but the way I was treated. When I left at 5, I went to a salon where the gal felt so bad for me she stripped and re-colored my hair and didn't even charge me! I figured I would hear from Tiffany on Friday to see how I was, but she didn't care enough to call even though I'd left in tears the night before. I shared my unhappiness with her and here is the text message I received back: I apologize if you feel that way but I won't apologize for my service being offered. If after 5 hours to correct what was not to your liking and I've done everything I could and you were still not satisfied then it's best that you went somewhere else to "fix" my mistake. After all the years I've been in the industry, I still have continued success and great relationships with my returning clients whom we share both value and respect to one another. I have never heard of any salon nor stylist to offer to fix someone's hair for 3.5 hours and not charge. And to ask for a refund is not only embarrassing on your behalf but is disrespectful in some right. Despite the monetary value, the time invested doesn't equal to what I Had deal with for a prospective client like yourself. I understand as a stylist I offer my services to clients to their liking and I take pride in what I do but for someone to cry bc the way I made them feel is a little juvenile. Hope you find someone to take care of you to your liking. At 1:19 am, I received this: Hey Christy, I think this content is my intellectual property, and it can't be used without my permission. Could you please message me back about this or take it down? At 1:49, Tiffany's boyfriend sent a Facebook message to one of my previous employees and friend: "Just a heads up, you better check your home girl. She's putting your business on blast on how you're under qualified for your job and why you got fired. Just think it's unprofessional and too personal to put anyone's business out there like that, that's all. At 1:57 pm, I received this from Tiffany's boyfriend: Sorry if there's any misunderstanding but I'm an admin on Tiffany's page. I believe that she had every intention to correct what ever issue you two had but to go as far as writing a bad review on her business page goes to show what kind of person you are. Hope nothing but the best for you as far as finding a stylist that will be attentive to your liking. Again, our upmost sincere apologies and good luck to you in the future. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! What an awful experience from start to finish. Clearly I think this shows what kind of people THEY are, not me. But you can bet, I'll share her "intellectual property" with anyone I can. If you still find this interesting, her snotty response was from this text that I sent to her: "Tiffany, To say I'm disappointed in how yesterday went is an understatement. It's not just the color, it was the way you made me feel. As I cried and continued to apologize to you, I felt as if your 5pm appt was more important to you. I went to another salon after I left your place after being there 6 hours. My hair was stripped and fixed and I'm extremely happy with it. I want to let you know that it wasn't just the color that was great, it was the service I received. I was not charged. This felt amazing considering that you charged me for an awful experience and let me leave with horrible hair. I was informed of the repair every step of the way. I felt valued. When you told me that "it's not like I wanted this to happen either", I felt devalued and as if I was a bother to you. You mentioned twice that you were glad we were getting this fixed because you had a 5 pm. That again, made me feel very unimportant. I'm letting you know this not to make you feel bad, but to let you know that how you treat people is important to your business- or should be anyway. I want you to be a huge success in all you do, but I think you should show your clients that you care more about them then yourself. This was just my perception yesterday. I'm very salty that you charged me. I understand it was less than what would typically be charged, but $100 was a lot for having wasted an entire day of work and needed another 3.5 hours to fix it. I obviously think that a refund is in order, but I'll leave that for you to decide. The entire situation was disappointing, so if you choose not to refund me, then it's just a lesson learned for me." I will never step foot in that salon again. Tiffany needs some customer service training and a few more hair classes. Also know that her boyfriend will know your business and share it with whomever he likes. Yet, I'm the unprofessional one???

Updated: I've been coming here for about two years now, and I've definitely seen this salon…read moreimprove. They recently remodeled, and it looks fantastic! The salon was always organized, but replacing the worn stations, refreshing the walls, and opening up the layout made the whole space feel brighter, cleaner, and more modern. Booking appointments online is also incredibly easy--it only takes a few seconds. Over the years I've had several technicians, and I especially want to recognize Josephine, Damon, and Hanna. They consistently provide quality work, are efficient, and make every appointment a pleasant experience. The front desk has also traditionally been friendly and quick to get clients checked in and out. I did have one disappointing experience during a recent pedicure. I requested the cat-eye gel effect, and the technician initially told me my toenails were too small. I explained that I was mainly after the sparkle, so we moved forward. Unfortunately, she didn't seem familiar with how to create the cat-eye effect I had selected. Since it was a $15 upgrade on top of the $16 shellac charge, it ended up being $31 that didn't produce the result I paid for. In the future, I'll be sure to ask beforehand if a technician is comfortable with the design I want. The only other thing that stood out during my latest visit was the new receptionist. My previous experiences at the front desk have always been warm and welcoming, but this visit felt a little different--there wasn't much of a greeting or smile, and after I signed myself in she still asked if I had an appointment. It wasn't a big deal, just a noticeable change from what I'm used to. Overall, this is still my go-to salon. The remodel looks great, online booking is convenient, and I've had far more positive experiences than negative ones. I'll definitely continue coming back.

They recently renovated and it flows way better than it did before. They have new massage chairs for pedicures and the manicure chairs are also comfy. They have a large TV on each wall so it's easy to see no matter where you're sitting. While it's not the fanciest salon I've been to, the place feels clean and updated. Their prices have been sneaking up a bit, however because of the service and consistency, I'll continue to go here!
