I had my hair trimmed and nails done at Avant, and I was very satisfied with my hair. Not so much the nails as I have issues with polish lifting, a total of 5 nails, so far, in the past 2 days. The Esthetician, Liv, who performed the original manicure was kind enough to repair the first two lifted nails. She touched up the remaining nails at the same time. Unfortunately, three additional nail's have lost their shellac polish the day after the repairs. I've had shellac applied many times before at another salon and have never had an issue with the polish lifiting. Generally, if I have any issues it's because I waited too long between visits. Perplexed in this instance, I searched online for reasons, particularly since Liv tended to suggest the problem lay with my nails or behavior subsequent to leaving the salon. Reasons mentioned in a google search: "The nail polish was not applied properly, the nails were not prepped properly before the shellac was applied, the nails were exposed to heat or cold too soon after the shellac was applied, or the nails were not protected properly (e.g. top coat applied). Because I've not had this problem in the past, I personally lean toward the polish itself or procedure. Also, I noted, when looking into current licensing at Avant Salon the following results displayed through Nebraska Dept. of Health and Human Services. I just had a pedicure at Avant and overall it was a good experience. I love Aveda products and know they aren't cheap, but $50 for a basic pedicure (60 min) still seemed pretty pricey. I've had other very luxurious pedicures at spas around the same price range, but they did a lot more in that hour. So for me, the value wasn't quite there. I did enjoy the service immensely, but I just felt it should have entailed more. The pedicure included a heel buffing, sugar and salt scrub, moisture mask with hot towels, a quick massage, and the nail color. My technician clearly had some massage training, which is more than I can say for pedicurists I've had at other places. I would have loved a paraffin dip, a heel or foot mask, hot stones, callus removal, reflexology, or a longer massage. Their nail services are in a quieter room in the back of the salon, away from the noisier hair care area bustling with chitchat and blow driers. I appreciated this...it helped me relax. Another thing I enjoyed was the Aveda make up station available for clients to peruse and try on products. This is a great way for women to test something out, and of course it was great fun. I went to Avant for a wedding I was in about a week ago. I have never gotten my hair professionally done before, so I was excited. I was disappointed to say the least. I showed the woman doing my hair a picture (curls and a thick braid) and she started. She asked how well my hair held a curl, and I said not well at all. Despite this note, she sprayed little to no product in my hair. The braid also looked nothing like the picture, it was simply a small french braid. The curls were out before the braid was finished, and I asked her to redo them. She did about four curls, then sprayed no product, and said she was done. They then tried to accuse me of not paying the $55 before I left, even though I did. I could've done my hair better at home. read more

I love this Salon - very friendly, clean, and comfortable. I also love Rachel - she's very detail oriented, and knowledgeable. She takes her time to do a great job to make sure her Client is happy with the end result. She's easy to talk to, which in my opinion is important since an appointment is typically around 2 hours - who wants to sit for 2 hours with someone that's not personable!! Terrific spot! I had a facial with Alicia today, and she is superb! It was perfect! She was timely, efficient, and created a very relaxing atmosphere. She even gave me a cute little sample of under-eye cream to try. My folks both got massages, and the masseuse was very accomodating and friendly. This place seems to be more of a salon than spa, but regardless I thoroughly enjoyed the experience! You can't go wrong with an Aveda concept salon, and this place did not disappoint. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but it hardly seemed like a good enough reason to ruin this place's five-star rating. read more

I called Avant to see if they had any openings that day as my days off are scattered. They were able to make arrangements to make my appointment work, which I very much appreciated! This salon adds your number and personal information to a data base which will send you numerous text messages and continues to harass customers when asked to remove information and not text. This salon gives really poor service, and ruins your hair. They breach confidentiality by giving out your information to third parties. read more
