BEWARE!!! SHADY BUSINESS ALERT!!! MIKE IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND HARD TO GET IN TOUCH WITH. I paid for security classes on March 6, 2020 but was scheduled to attend March 30 & 31. The City was closed due to Covid I called and text for updates but he magically disappeared. When I finally got in contact with him, he tripled the price and expected me to pay more. I told him that since he gave me a price in March and I already paid he should honor that price or give me a refund. He went on a rant that I'm being emotional and he is still giving me a good price. What I thought would be a boring class turned out to be the best decision I have ever made. Mike was GREAT!!! I'm the type of person, I get bored really fast and sometimes stop paying attention. But not this class. Mike kept my attention, except the few times my kids would text. He made sure we were knowledgeable and knew everything we needed to know about CCL. After our friend attended the carry & conceal class, he recommended this place for us. I was caught by surprise when the class began because I wasn't expecting it to be so solid. I haven't shot a handgun in many years & was doubting myself, but Mike instills this concept of survival mode that pushes you to take it seriously, forces you to focus, and pay attention. He's not going to sweet talk you thru it and he'll definitely correct you when you make an error that in real life could of possibly killed you. Very unprofessional and rude. Was suppose to attend the 6am-10pm ccl class and was outside for 2 hrs waiting on someone to show up. Then was told the class was canceled and we couldn't b given an explanation as to why and they don't send out anything (text or emails) stating it's cancelled. We furthermore are an educational establishment, Meaning that we not only evaluate our students in there passing or failing of the written material but in their temperament to be certified as a security officer's given that this is an occupation where it's members serve the public. While she did pass the test, passing the test alone is not the only requirement to receive a certification. Given that we are licensed by the Illinois Department of financial and professional regulation, The only requirement for licensure is the curriculum and the qualifications of the instructor, not the administration of the curriculum and the requirements for behavior. That is cool specific. We advise our students, most of whom pass our course, that it is not just your test scores but it is your behavior in the class as well. In the class in question, we ejected a student who displayed worst behavior then she displayed. She will have to understand and learn the lesson of not only humility but recognizing where she erred in her ways. Unlike fast food, because you paid your money does not guarantee you a certificate. You pay your money for us to teach you. What you do in class guarantees you the certificate. It is not just test passage; it is behavior is well. We would be more than willing to give her the certificate if she returns with an apology having understood the lesson. Otherwise, neither the Better Business Bureau nor anyone else can make her give her either a refund or the certificate. read more

Good place to go fun class. I payed for a class and the instructor was late on reply but honored His word on the class . I saw he give extra help where it was needed and especially to the people who needed a little more practice at the rang . He really helped out this older lady. Some people aren't meant to shot guns let alone carry but he still helped them and gave them every bit of help they needed to try and prepare them. Overall his class is not for the sensitive but either is what he's preparing you to do(kill if needed/defend yourself). He teaches you what you need to know but goes beyond and teaches you extra and if you need extra help he will stay with you and help that speaks for itself because let's be honest nobody's time is free . Good place but maybe not for everybody and he tells you "leave your feelings at the door" . My sister paid for classes for $100. Now they are claiming a $50 extra fee for covid 19. But the class was paid for before covid 19! If the class was paid for before the pandemic you need to honor the first price. I could see for a new customer charging the extra fee but if I have already paid it is not ok to go up and say it's because of covid 19! The people are unprofessional and they have very poor customer service. I would never recommend such disrespectful money extortionist to any one. I attended the 1 day (16 hours) Concealed Carry course. Before I talk about the class itself, I would like to highlight the customer service I received beforehand. I had been on a long search looking for a Concealed Carry class that fit my schedule and my budget. Someone referred Security Training Concepts to me and I reached out immediately. Mike Brown was really great about answering my many questions and walking me through the registration process. Even after I registered and paid my fees, I had questions about the class. He was very patient and prompt in answering all the questions I had. So we get to the day of the class. Just a heads up, if you do the 16-hour class, bring food that doesn't need to be refrigerated or heated. Not a lot of healthy choices in the area. Bring snacks and water, you'll need it. He has some items for sale. The class was REALLY great. We covered a multitude of topics including but not limited to an intro to firearms (parts, types, cleaning, loading/unloading, etc), proper handling/grip, marksmanship, laws, went you can or must shot and how to conduct ourselves once we start to carry. We went through various drills on firearm handling, aiming, lateral shooting and defense maneuvers. Halfway through the day, we went to the range to practice shooting. Mike really stayed on us about proper handling, aiming and shooting at the center of mass. Make sure you drive or have transportation to the range. We finished the day with going over laws and really understanding when we can and must shoot. Mike is tough! He plays NO games when it comes to us learning proper technique, handling, and safety. He's a veteran and ex-cop so his teaching can be rigorous. But at the same time, he's caring, understanding and HILARIOUS! That 16 hour day flew! As much as we learned we had a GREAT time. I am really grateful for this class. I walked through Mike's doors with a real fear of guns. When we got to the range, I was so nervous I was shaking all while watching the others. I jumped every time I heard a shot. When it was time for me to shoot, Mike sensed my nervousness and talked me through everything because my mind went blank. He reassured me, told me to trust myself but never once let up on being rigorous. I left the range confident and with my fear gone.
