You continue to be excellent in your teaching, both in the classroom and on the shooting range. You are a teacher who devotes a great amount of personal effort and interest to your daily teaching activities, as well as to your students. As one would expect, student evaluations of your teaching remain very high in all categories. This past weekend, you Excelled at a one Man "BLADE" teaching course. You know the development and Actions of "Real Life Situations n Keeping it Real." Mike Brown's contribution to the first-time-implementation of Security, Anger Management, and CCL course contributed significantly to its success. Above all, you remain open and receptive to comments and suggestions as to how your teaching can grow and improve. In that regard I commend you for the ways in which you have responded positively to some of the things you have discussed during class, as well as in less formal settings. You are making an outstanding contribution to teaching and to the instructional program for your Course and Our Community. In addition to your assigned teaching responsibilities, you volunteer to serve regularly on the shooting range, and take a great deal of time to present master classes at your Chicago Security Concepts Company. I will highly recommend this course for Everyone!!! Keep up the Awesome work Brother, Greatness has just Begun for You!! Agustin n Kim read more

BEWARE!!! SHADY BUSINESS ALERT!!! MIKE IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND HARD TO GET IN TOUCH WITH. I paid for security classes on March 6, 2020 but was scheduled to attend March 30 & 31. The City was closed due to Covid I called and text for updates but he magically disappeared. When I finally got in contact with him, he tripled the price and expected me to pay more. I told him that since he gave me a price in March and I already paid he should honor that price or give me a refund. He went on a rant that I'm being emotional and he is still giving me a good price. THAT IS A TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE AND I WILL NEVER REFER HIS BUSINESS TO ANYONE. I didn't get my money back. I screenshot his text and would love to share them. Up next.... giving a review of this business on Yelp then FB read more

Absolutely the best decision I've made. A friend recommended them because of a special he saw on Facebook. I took the one day course from 6am til 10pm on Saturday. Yes that's a 16 hour course in one day! Very intensive and informative course. Mike Brown the instructor is one of a kind. Brown is an extremely intelligent person who has the great ability to explain complex issues and topics in a way that everyone can understand from PHD to GED. The price is beyond reasonable while the program will exceed your expectations. Glad I took the course. read more

What I thought would be a boring class turned out to be the best decision I have ever made. Mike was GREAT!!! I'm the type of person, I get bored really fast and sometimes stop paying attention. But not this class. Mike kept my attention, except the few times my kids would text. He made sure we were knowledgeable and knew everything we needed to know about CCL. If someone didn't understand he would explain it without an issue. I went for CCL and end up leaving with armed security as well, of course for a fee. But he made me want to do both! Just another notch under my belt! If you are looking for someone to teach you and give you the knowledge you need, go to Mike! I'm waiting on his unarmed security class! I will be in the front row! read more

He was awesome! I completely recommend him for the CCL class! He was fun, engaging, great listener, honest answers!

I see saw the comments on my review that does not explain why we were standing outside in the heat and why you were so very unprofessional and why you have all those are bad reviews stating as much. I see a few OK ones but they do not outweigh the bad ones good luck to you as well and you're commenting on my review didn't explain why your company sucks so horribly or maybe it's just you. read more

It's unfortunate that this minority-owned business lacks professionalism. The owner was rude and extremely condescending. Please don't waste your time or energy with this company, you will regret it. All of these positive reviews must have came from family members or friends because there is no way this business can thrive with such horrendous customer service. read more

After our friend attended the carry & conceal class, he recommended this place for us. I was caught by surprise when the class began because I wasn't expecting it to be so solid. I haven't shot a handgun in many years & was doubting myself, but Mike instills this concept of survival mode that pushes you to take it seriously, forces you to focus, and pay attention. He's not going to sweet talk you thru it and he'll definitely correct you when you make an error that in real life could of possibly killed you. The class will prepare you to become an informed IL carrier and guide you to make educated & rationale decisions should you ever have to pull that gun out. WARNING: This class is not for those who get easily offended or who get their panties in a bunch, but if you can take it seriously (as you should , this is your life we're talking about) then please consider coming here for your class, you won't be disappointed. read more

Very unprofessional and rude. Was suppose to attend the 6am-10pm ccl class and was outside for 2 hrs waiting on someone to show up. Then was told the class was canceled and we couldn't b given an explanation as to why and they don't send out anything (text or emails) stating it's cancelled. "That's not something we do" So my time was wasted. Then he had an attitude about giving us our refunds back. Smh. Very disappointing. read more

He doesn't give refunds and would find a way for you not receive your money or your Certificate. Do not go here. This what he sent BBB. MESSAGE FROM BUSINESS: Better Business Bureau, We do not bend to false complaints. We advise our students of our no refunds policy. We furthermore are an educational establishment, Meaning that we not only evaluate our students in there passing or failing of the written material but in their temperament to be certified as a security officer's given that this is an occupation where it's members serve the public. The complaint an meaning that we not only evaluate our students in there passing or failing of the written material but in their temperament to be certified as security officers given that this is an occupation where its members serve the public. The complaintant in this matter was inquiring about a test question where the answers were obvious and on the test and answer sheet. After attempts of trying to help her understand the material, she displayed a attitude not consistent with what we would like our officers to display. She continue this attitude throughout the test. While she did pass the test, passing the test alone is not the only requirement to receive a certification. Given that we are licensed by the Illinois Department of financial and professional regulation, The only requirement for licensure is the curriculum and the qualifications of the instructor, not the administration of the curriculum and the requirements for behavior. That is cool specific. We advise our students, most of whom pass our course, that it is not just your test scores but it is your behavior in the class as well. In the class in question, we ejected a student who displayed worst behavior then she displayed. She will have to understand and learn the lesson of not only humility but recognizing where she erred in her ways. Unlike fast food, because you paid your money does not guarantee you a certificate. You pay your money for us to teach you. What you do in class guarantees you the certificate. It is not just test passage; it is behavior is well. We would be more than willing to give her the certificate if she returns with an apology having understood the lesson. Otherwise, neither the Better Business Bureau nor anyone else can make her give her either a refund or the certificate. read more

Good place to go fun class. I payed for a class and the instructor was late on reply but honored His word on the class . I saw he give extra help where it was needed and especially to the people who needed a little more practice at the rang . He really helped out this older lady. Some people aren't meant to shot guns let alone carry but he still helped them and gave them every bit of help they needed to try and prepare them. Overall his class is not for the sensitive but either is what he's preparing you to do(kill if needed/defend yourself). He teaches you what you need to know but goes beyond and teaches you extra and if you need extra help he will stay with you and help that speaks for itself because let's be honest nobody's time is free . Good place but maybe not for everybody and he tells you "leave your feelings at the door" . I'm thinking of going back for my armed security so I would recommend this place and would return . read more

My sister paid for classes for $100. Now they are claiming a $50 extra fee for covid 19. But the class was paid for before covid 19! If the class was paid for before the pandemic you need to honor the first price. I could see for a new customer charging the extra fee but if I have already paid it is not ok to go up and say it's because of covid 19! The people are unprofessional and they have very poor customer service. I would never recommend such disrespectful money extortionist to any one. If you cannot honor what you say how do you expect people to take your business seriously! The worst ever and if I could take away a star I would! Also be advised they do not refund your money even you have not started the classes! If you want your money stolen call them! read more

This is a great place to get your certification in security training. The instructor is both knowledgeable and humorous. I am glad I chose to come here for my unarmed training. There is also a fingerprinting service here as well. The prices are quite fair too! read more

This is a class that's worth the money. They will take the time to work with you and answer all questions. Highly recommended. Really appreciate a class that's talk about reality good and bad when handling a gun. read more

I attended the 1 day (16 hours) Concealed Carry course. Before I talk about the class itself, I would like to highlight the customer service I received beforehand. I had been on a long search looking for a Concealed Carry class that fit my schedule and my budget. Someone referred Security Training Concepts to me and I reached out immediately. Mike Brown was really great about answering my many questions and walking me through the registration process. Even after I registered and paid my fees, I had questions about the class. He was very patient and prompt in answering all the questions I had. So we get to the day of the class. Just a heads up, if you do the 16-hour class, bring food that doesn't need to be refrigerated or heated. Not a lot of healthy choices in the area. Bring snacks and water, you'll need it. He has some items for sale. The class was REALLY great. We covered a multitude of topics including but not limited to an intro to firearms (parts, types, cleaning, loading/unloading, etc), proper handling/grip, marksmanship, laws, went you can or must shot and how to conduct ourselves once we start to carry. We went through various drills on firearm handling, aiming, lateral shooting and defense maneuvers. Halfway through the day, we went to the range to practice shooting. Mike really stayed on us about proper handling, aiming and shooting at the center of mass. Make sure you drive or have transportation to the range. We finished the day with going over laws and really understanding when we can and must shoot. Mike is tough! He plays NO games when it comes to us learning proper technique, handling, and safety. He's a veteran and ex-cop so his teaching can be rigorous. But at the same time, he's caring, understanding and HILARIOUS! That 16 hour day flew! As much as we learned we had a GREAT time. I am really grateful for this class. I walked through Mike's doors with a real fear of guns. When we got to the range, I was so nervous I was shaking all while watching the others. I jumped every time I heard a shot. When it was time for me to shoot, Mike sensed my nervousness and talked me through everything because my mind went blank. He reassured me, told me to trust myself but never once let up on being rigorous. I left the range confident and with my fear gone. I HIGHLY recommend this class and any course with Mike Brown at Security Training Concepts. read more
