What a melodic way to honor John Coltrane's Centennial by celebrating 100 years of the legendary…read moresaxophonist & composer's life. I've loved all things Coltrane for as long as I can remember. His music was the soundtrack of my childhood & my introduction to jazz & the blues. So, while planning my return to NYC, I made sure to find a jazz club where I could experience his legacy. That led me to Dizzy's Club at Lincoln Center for A Masterful Tribute to Trane: Roxy Coss Quartet. I'll admit, I hesitated at the $60 cover & $20 minimum. Yet my server, Nidia, was amazingly engaging, & the seamless hospitality throughout, led by GM Raymond, was impressive. Most importantly, the extraordinary music made it worth every penny. The John Coltrane Centennial Celebration was nothing short of transcendent. Honoring Coltrane's iconic "Classic Quartet" era, saxophonist Roxy Coss led a powerhouse ensemble featuring Geoffrey Keezer on piano, James Cammack on bass, & Rudy Royston on drums. Together, they balanced fierce modal intensity with profound spiritual depth. Keezer's captivating commentary connected the music to Coltrane's history & legacy, while the musicians brought that history vividly to life. I especially appreciated the reflection on Coltrane's composition Alabama, written in response to the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. Artist Insights *Roxy Coss; Saxophones & Clarinet: Commanded the front line with muscular tenor solos & soaring soprano lines that captured Coltrane's questing spirit without merely imitating him. *Geoffrey Keezer; Piano: Followed his historical introductions with thunderous block chords & explosive modal runs. *James Cammack; Bass: The Ahmad Jamal Trio veteran anchored the ensemble with a deep, resonant pulse & commanding presence. & a gentle note: JC performs with a walker, yet his passion for playing remains unmistakably powerful. I love seeing that kind of dedication to the music. *Rudy Royston; Drums: Fueled the quartet with polyrhythmic fury & an exhilarating, Elvin Jones-inspired drive. The intimate space & ambience were supremely curated - pun intended: A Love Supreme. Great Jazz at the Lincoln Center & a salute to Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis for helping sustain this extraordinary jazz tradition. A triumphant & unforgettable homage to jazz royalty - TRANE, encore. I plan on visiting Dizzy's every time I return to NYC.

Came to Sugar Mouse on a Thursday night to support an artist showcase hosted by a couple of…read morefriends, and I have to say, the venue left a pretty good impression on me. The showcase was held in a separate section toward the back of the establishment, which turned out to be a great setup for a live performance. What impressed me most was the sound system. Despite the main bar area having its own music blasting and patrons scattered throughout the venue, the audio in the showcase section was powerful and crisp enough to practically drown out the surrounding noise. It really allowed us to enjoy the performances without much interference from the rest of the establishment. Definitely a pleasant surprise! Of course, I grabbed a couple of drinks while enjoying the show, and they were pretty good. No complaints on that front. Beyond the showcase, I also liked how much the venue has to offer in terms of entertainment. Between the arcade games, pool tables, and overall laid-back atmosphere, Sugar Mouse seems like a great place to hang out with friends, enjoy a few drinks, and get a little competitive over some games. There's enough going on to keep you entertained without necessarily needing a special event to bring you in. Overall, Sugar Mouse was a pleasant experience. While my visit was primarily for the artist showcase, I left wanting to come back for an entirely different reason -- to enjoy the games, drinks, and social atmosphere. Definitely a spot I'd revisit for a casual night out with friends.

She has never been bowling before and this is a great place for a first timer. It's modern and very beautiful. Staff here is very nice and helpful. I booked this reservation last week and yes it is pricy but well worth the experience in my opinion. When we arrived, there was a guy checking bags and you go through a metal detector. There was also a girl that checked us in and told us we were in lane 6. We got upstairs, used the bathroom and got our shoes. I'm normally a 7-7.5 and the 7 fit perfectly. My husband is a 9.5-10 and he got a 10 which also fit great. I love that we had our own section and the menus were already there. We got a round of drinks and a sampler platter. It had mini mozz sticks, tenders, wings, pretzels and fries. Everything was delicious. There was a manager hanging around making sure things ran smoothly and our server came by to check in a few times. We bowled from 7-9 finishing our game around 8:57 and then went to look around the arcade. I used the bathroom before leaving and i will say it was surprisingly very clean. I also noticed there was another floor to bowl. I will def be coming back here! This place is modern and beautiful with phenomenal service.

Great customer service, fun atmosphere, and an overall memorable experience. Thank you! We'll definitely be back!

I found the sound system to be standard, not standout good or bad. I liked the 360 stage and enjoyed the side closer to the VIP section. However- the venue is only so big, so it was pretty crowded. The restroom line was pretty long but moved very quickly when I went. I personally don't love the club scene versus a more concert vibe for venues - this is much more of a club scene in my opinion. There were a lot of drunk people unaware of their personal space and running into people constantly, one dude in particular falling into multiple groups multiple times. There wasn't much room to dance until people started leaving after 2:30AM in the GA section. Would I return ? Yes - for artists I love.

The staff even made me feel special by surprising me with a complimentary birthday slushy type shot, which was such a thoughtful touch. Because of that experience, when one of my coworkers wanted to celebrate their birthday, I immediately suggested we celebrate here. Overall, the staff was amazing. The hostess was friendly and went above and beyond. Our server, Jaleen, was fun, vibrant, and truly made our experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, my only complaint is with the manager, Temmi. Everyone knew we were celebrating my coworker's birthday. After we had paid our bill and were getting ready to leave, I politely mentioned to Temmi that during my birthday visit, I had received a small birthday frozen surprise, but my coworker hadn't received any birthday acknowledgment. Her first response was that she didn't know it was my coworker's birthday, which was surprising because it had been mentioned throughout our visit. Instead of offering a solution, she immediately gave multiple excuses as to why nothing could be done. As someone who has worked in customer service for years, I understand that things happen. However, great management is about finding solutions, not making excuses. Even a small gesture would have gone a long way. Instead, she simply said, "Well, yeah, it's closed, sorry" turned her back, and dismissed me. That response was rude, dismissive, and completely changed how I felt about the experience. It's unfortunate because every other staff member was exceptional. They hostess and servers deserve recognition for their service. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled by management left such a negative impression that I will not be returning or recommending the rooftop pool to others. It's disappointing because I know firsthand how memorable this place can be when guests are made to feel celebrated.
