I've been coming to secret since feb 2024 and its now been my studio for over a year and a half! I tried another studio way back when for my very first pole class and had such a bad experience because the environment wasnt very welcoming, that i thought I'd never try it again. Then two months later I came here and I LOVED IT. I felt so welcomed by everyone and it just felt like such a safe and welcoming place that I just kept coming back. Secret has become another home to me! I never thought I'd ever perform anything in front of anyone or feel sexy in my own body, but I'm now close to doing my third showcase and feel flexible, sexy, and empowered more than I ever have. I went to check this place out because my friend wanted to, even though I'd previously avoided it because it's ridiculously expensive compared to every other studio in the area. Now that I've been there I still don't understand why anyone would choose this place over the more reasonably priced ones. The quality of instruction is good but not better than anywhere else (in fact you can find some of the same instructors at other studios). Their policies are also weirdly strict, like not letting students into a class if they show up even 30 seconds late. I've been to many other aerial and pole studios over the years and have never seen a policy like that, so I don't buy their explanation of "It's because warm up is too important to miss even a minute". Feels more like a power trip to me. Speaking of power trips, I also read a disturbing story on one of the instructors' social media accounts in which she was ordered by the owner to perform in a showcase right after giving birth, and didn't feel like she had the option to say no. It was presented as a funny anecdote but it's not funny at all. How devoid of empathy do you have to be to demand (not request, demand) something like that of your employee? Seems like she has them conditioned to accept this kind of treatment, which is sad. Not the kind of place I want to support. read more

I started my pole journey after my friend suggested trying Secret in January. I've been so hooked ever since! I absolutely LOVE the vibe of the studio (the space and the people) -- it has a very fun club vibe and everyone from the instructors & students are all so welcoming. I also love that the studio is so diverse and there are students of all ages, sizes and pole levels. It's always so fun to see what everyone wears to the studio (yes, lingerie is allowed & embraced). There's a huge variety of classes -- choreo, tricks, chair, acro chair, twerk & even a Red-Light class (aka let your sexy feline self out to play!) The studio also hosts events (student showcases, group showcases etc.) -- there's such a wonderful pole community here. Tried this place since I had a groupon for six classes. I tried the following classes in this order: -Newbie Pole Climbs, Flip Upside Down and Tricks for your level (intro/beginner) -Spinning Pole for Beginners with Choreo -Intro to Pole Dancing -Twerk Cardio Fitness -Deep Stretch and Flexibility -Beginner Pole Dancing (Choreo only) It was my first time ever doing pole! The classes are small and the people have been consistently kind and supportive when I've gone. After my second class I felt kinda done with pole because I was struggling with the upper body strength and wasn't really enjoying the act itself. However, I stuck through it because there's a notice where you can get charged $20 for not showing up. But by the 6th class, I wish I could've signed up for more. Pole dancing is a lot of fun and I have really enjoyed the community I've seen from it. My favorite instructors were Marie and Kaeli. Marie is very blunt but extremely good at breaking choreo down into pieces (the warmup was harder than the choreo) and Kaeli is also a great teacher who can help spot. However, I didn't have any bad experiences with the classes, the different teachers just mean that there's a great variety of people to learn from in different ways which means you're likely to find someone to connect with and would prefer to learn from. Choreo classes let you record so it's a great way to track progress. The only iffy things were their strict policies (using coupon classes before 60 days, class fee for not showing up, and making sure to show up on time so they don't lock you out). I think these are recent changes and I do see people being allowed in for now even if they are a bit late, but it's one thing to watch out for because if they get more strict they won't be in the wrong if you end up losing out. read more

Parking: Ample free parking spaces in an open lot out front! Experience: My friends and I bought a Groupon for 3 classes and had a great first beginner's class experience. We learned one short choreo with Hurricane and she was super helpful and encouraging! Steps and spins were simple to follow along, especially for first-timers. The class we took had 7 women and we were the only newcomers but the other experienced women helped us out so much as well. Overall a super fun experience and great workout. Ambiance: The pole studio seems to have multiple rooms which is great for larger groups. There are lockers outside for personal belongings and alcohol spray bottles and paper towels for whenever you need to wipe down your pole for more traction. Service: The woman working the front desk was super kind and accommodating. We left our shoes outside but because it was raining, she brought all our shoes indoors. I wanted to follow up on my *unbelievable* customer experience with this studio. TLDR: They suddenly enforce "no-show fees" on me upon my "bad review", disabled my account, and canceled all my remaining 7 classes. Against my wishes. See below for the full story: Upon writing my previous review with this studio, to which I made sure to *fairly* highlight both the things they did well in but I also did not hold back on the things I had a problem with, this studio emailed me directly back with my bad review and suggested that I get a refund of my remaining credits while paying for "no show fees". I want to quickly touch on this clever but deceiving business policy of a so-call "no show fee". How this studio works is that they arbitrarily enforce a zero-tolerance late policy where if you're late for a minute, you cannot join class. This is irregardless of whether or not the actual class instructor agrees with the policy or not, it's just a arbitrarily studio policy in the name of "student safety." Let's not discuss whether or not those intentions are genuine. What I want to focus on is the fact that if you're late for a minute, you cannot join class. And therefore, you're considered a no-show. And therefore, for the value of a $30 class, you just accumulated a $20 "no-show fee" *in addition* to losing the $30 class value you've already paid. This means that they win no matter what. If you show up, they make $30 from you. If you're late, they make $50 ($30 class + $20 no show) from you. Any reasonable person can see the skewed incentives in this policy here. I've previously joined others studios that ask for no show fees, for unlimited monthly subscriptions which I can understand because accumulating constant no shows on a unlimited package is like ordering 10 plates of AYCE food that you can't finish. That makes sense. However, I'm on a prepaid 12-class package. That's like charging me fees for not finishing "a la carte" food that I *already* paid for. They only asked for these fees after my bad review, and have never previously asked for it. Which makes me wonder regarding the true intention.. At this point, I still have 7 classes left in my 12-class package that I already prepaid. I go to class, and a new admin person who I've never met before asked to see me privately, requesting for these fees. I tried to reason with her, but she insists that she's simply the messenger and management is enforcing these fees on me and I cannot join class unless I pay. While I'm reasoning with her, the music was specifically turned up make it really hard to communicate. She tells me to not "raise my voice" and I confusedly said "do you not hear the loud music? We can go outside to talk if you prefer because we can't hear each others..." She declined this offer and prohibited me from joining class. I unbelievably asked her "Are you saying, if I don't pay for these fees today, I can't join this class, which means I will accumulate *another* $20 no-show fee and for all the following 7 classes that I have registered for?" She replied, "You've asked me this question for the third time, and my answer is yes, no matter what your reason is, if you're not in class then you have to pay a $20 fee per class." I was dumbfounded by this ridiculous policy and left the studio after. Shortly after, I found that my account was disabled, and could not log in. Somehow I managed to reset my password and get access to the account again, and it indicates that all the remaining 7 classes I had left are canceled by admin. This exchange also included them accusing me of "threatening" them with a bad review. To which I can only reply: A review is not a threat.. I'm only fully expressing my experience. My experience *will* be publicly reflected because honestly, that's the only power as a consumer in a capitalistic society. What's the point of reviews/Yelp if customers are restricted from reviewing negative experiences? I feel nothing wrong with my position, especially when I have also taken the time to reflect on the positive parts of the studio which are real. But the questionable business practices and customer service are equally real. Customers can make their own decision moving forward, and my opinion is only one of many. If a business takes feedback and improves, that's respectable and reviews are no threat. In my opinion, only bad businesses will feel threatened by reviews because they're reluctant to improve their poor practices, and resort to power-tripping behavior. Just my two cents. For full transparency, they did refund me half of the money I paid, but at this point, I've only technically taken 5 out of the 12 classes, which is less than half. But that's an insignificant detail. read more

This review is overdue. I've been coming to secret consistently since January. It's something I look forward to weekly. I live in Northridge so this studio is not close to my house at all but for me it is very much worth the drive. I've tried a couple of closer studios in the valley but they don't have what Secret has. Hurricane was my first instructor. She made me feel instantly comfortable and I highly recommend her intro classes if you've never touched a pole. She breaks down moves in a way to help you understand. I take 2 (sometimes 3) of her classes every Saturday. Nisey is my other favorite. The class can be slightly intimidating because she pushes you out of your comfort zone, which we all need, but they are always soooooo fun. The energy she brings to her classes make me keep wanting to come back for more. Jammin is someone I recently started taking in the last month who also pushes me out of my comfort zone. I've never been a dancer so choreography doesn't come easy for me. I can't explain it but my brain doesn't process the movements right away. Jammin's way of teaching choreo and explaining individual moves is so helpful and I've ended up surprising myself with what I can do. All that being said, these instructors are absolute gems. The community is beyond. Everyone is so motivating and really cheers you on. I look forward to seeing the same faces every week and have even build friendships with some of the lovely humans in the class. read more

So far i have gone to two different studios. Secrets was my first studio and ive been coming here for a lil over 1 year. I love ALL the instructors. I love that they always start on time and they take their positions seriously but also have fun doing it. Tish, April, and Kaeli are the instructors i usually scheduled with but all the different instructors are really amazing and have their own different styles that i love. they all take their time showing us different ways of doing tricks/spins and are very thorough with their classes. They all seem very mature and doesn't feel like highschool (like my other studio). The studio seems very clean too and they have heaters for the cold weather. Everything seems very professional and organized. Unfortunately i had to change studios since it was so far but maybe i will return since i dislike my new studio. Signing up & booking classes were very easy for me but one bad thing i have to say is their unreasonable policy... if you go to a class and only 2 students show up they cancel the class on you ( even when you are present ) and they basically just say sorry and we have to leave. This really sucks for someone who drives 40 min to the studio and takes another 40 min to get back home. BUT when you have an emergency and have photos to show proof and cant make it to class they still charge you a fine and take your credit away which i dont think is fair at all. Also, when i purchased a package for 8 classes for November, they didn't disclose the fact that they closed for one week for thanksgiving leaving myself and some students to cram all the classes we purchased since they expire after one month. Horrible dance studio who only tries to steal money from you. Me and another students are literally only 1 minutes late. They just ignored us to ring the bell. 6min later, someone finally came out and she said " sorry, we don't have Grace period, you are late." Excuse me?! We are literally 1 minute late. Sometimes their instructors even comes out 5minutes later than the class time and just let everyone wait outside. Such a double rules! They become like this after they change the policy that they trying to charge clients $20 each time for late and no show. It is ridiculous for what they are doing now. It's in a private studio that allows all women, shapes, sizes, and age. I felt so comfortable during my first class. I seriously can't wait to go back. I took the newbie class with Keren. I freaking love her! What a great teacher. She is confident and positive and seriously a great coach throughout the class. We started off with a great stretch before we moved to the pole. I loved that we learned pole elements that transitioned to choreography. I was so sad that the hour literally flew by so quickly. I'm already signed up for the next few weeks to get my pole on! I had to write a review for this studio because my experience was so heartbreaking. To me, pole dance is all about women supporting women, body positivity, and feeling confident and empowered in your body, strength, and sensuality/sexuality. This experience was the exact opposite. I attended an "Intro to Pole" class and it was NOT an intro class at all -- the moves were extremely challenging. Also, I was not welcomed to the studio at all. The instructor did not show me where things were, instruct me on what I needed to do (I just followed other students), where to store my belongings, or where the toilet was. I have been to studios in Austin, Chicago, and San Francisco and every single one made me feel welcomed, accepted, gave a tour, and had the classmates introduce themselves to one another. It was extremely supportive and welcoming. This studio was severely the exact opposite. I left the class early because the moves were so difficult and I could not keep up with the choreo. When I left, the other classmates (women) laughed at me, and it felt like being bullied in junior high. This is SO not cool, and not the way pole dance classes should be. I am writing this review so that women who are into supporting other women and celebrating our sensualities together in pole dance -- please know that this is NOT a normal pole dance studio. Hey, I'm diggin the new studio! :D As a student from their original location, I was stoked to learn about the second location. I missed the grand opening but I managed to make my way over to Jefferson blvd. on a couple occasions. Walking in for the first time, I was greeted by the same warm welcome I'd expect from Secret Pole. Studio owner, Rashida, was so happy to see me and give me a tour of the new place. The main room has beautiful hardwood floors, sexy-dim lighting, and 8 poles alternating in wide to skinny diameter. There's also a dressing room, bathroom, room for receptionist and sign in, and a separate workout room for non-pole related classes. Same awesome instructors as the first location. So far I've had the pleasure of attending Kitty's Pole Burlesque class and Katie's Swag & Sensual Movements class. Both were such a good workout while getting in touch with your inner vixen ;D ...and both teachers are very sweet, good energies, and talented instructors. If you sign up for their mailing list, they have amazing deals on class packages. I once spent $140 on 15 classes! My best tip when it comes to Secret Pole is to register for classes sooner than later. This studio is VERY popular and classes (and waiting lists) fill up quick. Also, twice a year they have a student recital. I highly recommend attending one. It's very empowering to see all types of women, REAL women, embracing their sexy! No need to be self conscious because so one is judging here. Which brings me to one final thought, the camaraderie here is very inviting. Just attended the grand opening celebration of the second studio....yay! It was all ladies only tonight and boy do we know how to party! Besides seeing many familiar faces.....fellow students and beloved teachers.....the studio was jam packed with lots of new ladies I haven't seen before. One of my fav teachers Leigh did an awesome job with her performance as always....so inspiring! I'm really excited about the new classes (i.e. Pole Burlesque and Leigh's new class Pole 2 & 3 with inversions). There is a new teacher named Kyna who did a wonderful job of promoting her class "Swag Cardio" at the opening tonight. Oh man if she can teach me how to move like that.....I'm totally signing up! The new bigger studio has 8 poles, with beautiful hardwood floors and mirrors in the front (where you can see your pole moves). Although it is new, it carries with it a familiar atmosphere like their LA studio: friendly, encouraging and offer a safe environment. I purchased a few classes through this studio and although I am giving a poor star rating I did have 1 good experience (with the Twerk instructor) however my other 2 experiences were w the chair instructor (who deliberately rude and does not understand customer service at all): I was booked for a floor class at 2:30 on Sunday - my friend was visiting from Holland and she wanted to join. there was plenty of room in the class. in fact I had organized 4 of us to attend the class (there was 1 additional person outside of the group that I had arranged) - so in total 5 attendees. we had been emailing the studio all morning to get my friend into the class and very tardy replies via email w no confirmation of her in the class and they don't answer their phone calls either. I live quite far so I drove about 1 hour to the studio and arrive at least 30 min early so that I can ensure my friend was scheduled since no one answers their emails or phones. the instructor showed up at exactly 2:30 - not a minute before. asked me and my friend 3 times to fill out the new client forms and the covid forms despite them already being filled out when we arrived at 2 pm. I am not sure if she was on something? but if I tell you the form is filled out already and its right on the table - then why do you keep asking me about it? seems a bit insane any how by this time it's 2:40 and she's still asking about these forms... finally she realizes that indeed they were filled out. then she proceeds to tell me that my friend cannot attend class. What in the world? firstly why was she late? secondly I had been trying to contact the studio all morning via email + phone, the class was basically only me and my guests (pretty empty), I had confirmation of purchasing the class, we signed her up on mind body and drove over an hour. then she cackled at me in my face. she literally laughed in my face. I do not understand how this place is open to the public with this type of service, I am not sure if the instructor was on something but I suspect something is seriously wrong w her bc her behavior was not normal. there are many pole studios in LA - do not go to this one. read more
