Have heard great things about Secret Pizza as it is our neighbors go to spot for NY style pies. Decided to head here on a Saturday evening as we were coming back from LAX. I've forgotten how bad traffic was on the 101 and took us about an hour from Hollywood. Parking here was also pretty bad as we didn't realize how tight Browne Ave was. Found a spot up front although part of my car was in the red zone. Opted to order 2 slices of pepperoni and garlic knots to eat there while we waited for a sausage/pepperoni and double mushroom pie to take home. Slices of pepperoni were good and thought the garlic knots were just ok. I prefer the garlic rolls at Tarantino's in Pasadena more as they are really garlicky and buttery. Both pies travelled well and we ended up eating another slice of each at home. Will definitely be back but will have to find a better spot to park so that we can dine without worrying about getting a parking ticket.

I was really looking forward to trying Secret Pizza, especially after hearing all the great reviews. As a pizza enthusiast and a devoted fan of Prince Street Pizza, I felt compelled to see how the two compared. I decided to go with the Thick Vodka pizza. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of my expectations. At $37 for the box, I would have preferred a Little Caesars pizza instead. I can't speak for the other flavors, but the one I had definitely didn't live up to the hype. True to its name, it was thick--too thick, in fact. All I got was a mouthful of dry bread. On the bright side, the staff was fantastic and the ambiance was pleasant. Maybe I just got an off batch, but I left feeling disappointed on my first visit.

Sean and Madonna, Thank you for sharing your gift of amazing pizza. I absolutely enjoyed the time we had yesterday and I would definitely come back again because everything was just great, The pizza I cannot even explain how good it tasted.

Secret Pizza specializes in New Jersey style pizzas. Pizzas by the slice are by walk in only and are an average of $5 per slice. Otherwise, you can order full 18" round pizzas or 12" square pizzas. They have their own website where you can schedule a pickup order ahead. Pro tip that if its your first time ordering ahead, once you create an account on their website, you'll get a 25% off discount! I did mine this way and chose their regular round pizza as the base and added pepperoni, mushroom and onions. The toppings were free of charge. It's only an additional $2 if you want half pepperoni. Secret Pizza is definitely now one of my go to spots when I'm craving NJ pizza. The crust is cooked to a slight crisp perfection and still keeps its chewiness. The sauce is a trifecta of tangy, sweet and savory. I found that the toppings were spread evenly as well. I ate 3 slices in one sitting and it was an overall addictive experience. Street parking only but it wasn't too difficult to find. They have seating indoors and outdoors. Staff was so sweet and welcoming! Secret pizza is a must try and maybe it's a great thing that the secret is out.

Secret Pizza is hands-down the best pizza in LA. As a fellow former New Jerseyan, it is so great to have some Jersey representation out here. Yes, the prices are higher than what I am used to in Bergen County NJ, but the prices are fairly typical for LA (I think to how Halal Guys here is also quite more expensive than what I am used to in NJ-area). The most important thing for me is that the pizza tastes great like at home, which it definitely does. From the plain, to the pepperoni, to the vodka, and to the Sicilian, the pizzas here taste like the classic, no-frills pizza I love. And to be honest, the pizza here is even better than the places I grew up with back at home in NJ too. This is great pizza, period. Fyi, this is also not the place for some boutique or neapolitan pizza, for which there are plenty of other places in LA. The restaurant is counter service, with some casual outdoor patio seating to quickly eat or to hang out. Lastly, the staff here are all so kind and great. It was so nice meeting owner Sean when I was there, and you can tell he loves doing what he does. Definitely check out Secret Pizza if you are looking for some good NJ/NY style pizza in LA!

tl;dr this El Sereno slice shop is no longer the LA pizza scene's best kept secret, but the excellent New York-style slices are a godsend for those of us on the East Side Like many trendy fast-casual spots today, Secret Pizza originated as a pandemic-era pop-up. The name refers to the hush-hush nature of the pop-up's location (i.e., the Hollywood apartment of the Jersey-born Sean Lango), which was only shared with patrons after they had reserved a pie. Quickly, Lango's pop-up earned praise from news outlets from Eater LA to the LA Times, and rabid demand meant planning well in advance for a pizza. But now, Secret Pizza has moved its residence to a proper brick-and-mortar in Sean Lango in El Sereno, and diners can easily order directly from the website or in person. The shop is tucked away behind a sign-less, whitewashed picket fence barrier just off Huntington Drive. Prepare for street parking on the twisty, inclined road to be at least a mild headache. Enter into a comfortable courtyard, illuminated by twinkle lights beneath an olive tree canopy. Pumpkin-orange plastic chairs and both umbrellas and industrial heaters are pressed up against stainless steel tables. Inside, the harsh lighting, worn concrete floor, and offwhite letterboard menu feel decidedly retro. A cubical glass display is filled with shelves of available slices. The narrow laminated-wood sitting is also decked with pizza seasonings. We arrived at Secret Pizza for weekend dinner and faced no wait. We picked out a couple of slices, and the staff member popped them into the oven for a few minutes. The signature New York-style round pies each featured a flavorful and thin-yet-sturdy crust to pair with a mozzarella and pecorino cheese blend. Our favorite was the extra-rich, slightly spicy Vodka pizza, but our Pepperoni slice featured a generous portion of pepperoni rings and a tangy red sauce. Meanwhile, the Sicilian Thick square slice was thick and poofy, leaving it feeling overwhelmingly bread-heavy against the toppings, The service was equal parts friendly and generous -- the staff gave us a free side of homemade Ranch and even offered another tentative customer a slice on the house. The extra-large (18" diameter) pies are each cut into 8 slices; a moderate appetite can tackle 2 slices, and singles run for ~$5. Overall, I was impressed by the genuinely caring service. I left feeling that Secret Pizza stacks up reasonably well against even some of New York's most popular slice shops. By LA standards, Secret Pizza is a true diamond in the rough.

This place really lives up to its name! My GPS took me to the Dollar Tree parking lot and it took me a long time to figure out where the location was because there is no signage. I figured since it's "secret" that was part of the theme. Contacting them is text only, no calls. I got a response within a couple of minutes and they were very polite and helpful. The building is quite cute with white fence, patio lights and outdoor seating with very pretty olive trees. They are New York style slices. I personally found the slices on the small side but it was still filling. I believe I tried the white and the vodka flavors. They give you some dipping sauces on the side and I really liked the light pink slightly spicy one. That may have been the vodka sauce. I normally don't eat much of the crust but I found the crust quite tasty.

Secret Pizza definitely lives up to its' name. The location was hidden and you definitely have to be vigilant while navigating towards it. My boyfriend and I were lucky to score one last parking spot on the street. Their hours are limited with it only being open Wed-Sun from 4-9pm. Upon entering you walk into their outdoor patio seating. There are heat lamps but it wasn't turned on during the night we came. There was also a few seats inside but very limited and cramped. We came here for the pizza by the slice. They have a limited selection of pizza by the slice compared to other pizza shops with similar concepts. We both went with Pepperoni ($5.25/slice). We waited a bit for the pepperoni since they were out when we arrived. The tables in the patio area was really dirty and not well maintained. I didn't see staff come around to clean the whole time we were there. When the pizza was ready, we found that the crust was thin and crispy. However the toppings were lacking. I would have liked both more cheese and more pepperoni. Especially considering how other pizza shops sell the same pepperoni slice for a lower cost and better toppings. A fun novelty visit, but I can't say I'm in a rush to come back.

Pizza was good but I paid for extra cheese and didn't get it. Also, the pizza was very pricey.

Pepperoni, Jalapeño, Mushroom, Margherita, and Vodka Sauce

I like that the pizza here isn't too greasy compared to other pizzas I've had. It's thin sliced, but not floppy. I initially got 2 slices because that's usually my go-to number when I buy pizza by the slice, but wasn't yet satisfied, so I got a 3rd, but I think I could have easily eaten a 4th. For thin sliced pizza, the portion does run pretty small at more than $5 for a slice, so for 4 slices you'd be looking at well over $20. We got 1 slice of each flavor and we thought overall, the amount toppings felt a lot less compared to other places and the flavors are kind of subtle in the tomato sauce, vodka sauce and the shredded basil on the Margherita. The mushroom and jalapeño were fresh especially the jalapeño which was very thinly sliced but still packed a lot of flavor. We agreed the Pepperoni was the best when it comes to flavor. Crust runs more crunchy than chewy. We also tried their garlic knots, and again the flavor was very subtle, and didn't taste that garlicky. The sauce that came with it was great though.

What a gem! It's far too good to be secret for much longer. The tree shaded outdoor area (with heat lamps) serves to hide it but it's worth finding for sure. We had both vodka and jalapeño sausage pies. Delicious thin crust just like back in our home state of New Jersey. Perfection. Or so I thought until the owner Sean brought out homemade chocolate chip cookies and a giant homemade ice cream sandwich that made me wish I hadn't eaten quite so much pizza! Fantastic. Go. Parking on the street. Worth it.

The secret is out--there's a new(ish) pizza place in town, and it's cooking up mouthwatering pies that has reinvigorated my love for the cheese and dough. A few things worth noting: - Sign-up for an account and get a deal on your order - Closed Mondays and Tuesdays - Check their insta @secretpizzala for deals - Single slices available at the shop - Street parking only If you're a fan of thin crust pizza, stop wasting time and check out Sean's creations. The crust is perfectly crisp, light, and subtly flavorful. The toppings are modest, and the cheese is creamy. The pizzas may not look like much, but boy, has Sean and his team hit it out of the park.

This place has delicious east coast style pizza. First off the cheese slice is perfectly balanced with sauce that actually tasted good and the crust is perfect. The vodka slice was perfect and didn't taste heavy. I highly recommend this place and would rate it first place for nyc style pizza over the appolonias etc. IMO this place is way better.

Barbara's at the Brewery is definitely the highlight of the street because the sign is so large and parking is centered all around it but I still got confused on where the entrance was. I thought the entrance is where the large sign you see from the street is, but actually you have to walk past that sign and past the gate and all the way straight to the yellow building up ahead and that's when you run straight into Barbara's. There are two entrances but I didn't realize I was closer to the main one and somehow I walked all the way to the left and around up some stairs to go in from what I guess must be the back door. Next time once you are at the yellow building go around the right and the door is almost immediately to your left. Once inside I liked the vibe. There are two rooms, one is the bar area room and one is the room where people can just take their food or drinks and just hang out and eat. I went to the bar and the bartender was super friendly and he let me taste test the beer before ordering. I got the Poppiness beer which was very delicious and refreshing, ice cold. I sipped it slowly and it stayed cold throughout my whole meal. To eat I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries. I don't often eat fried food because my belly will hurt, but it was one of the few chicken items on the menu and I went for it. Good thing I did! The sandwich was absolutely delicious. The outside is perfectly crunchy that every time you bite in there is this satisfying crunch noise, and the inside chicken is a good thick portion of chicken and it is so moist and flavorful. I gobbled that sandwich down and wished I could get a second to go haha! The best thing though is that my belly did not hurt after eating this sandwich, I'm thinking the ingredients must be really clean. I definitely loved the food, the drinks, and the vibe of the place, and would 100% stop by again if I'm in the area!
