This area looks so much better now that the old Alaskan Way Viaduct was removed back in 2019. The…read morepark was designed with pedestrians in mind. It keeps people away from the tunnel traffic along that road. It's still a work in progress with many developments planned in the future. There's still a lot of construction near Belltown as of June 2025. We stayed in a hotel near the park. It's super close to Pier 66. The park currently connects Pioneer Square with Pier 62, and has great views of Elliott Bay. We took the elevator up to the Overlook Walk so that we could gain access to Pike Place Market. There are also stairs that take you there from each side of the walkway. I don't remember it being this easy back in 2011. Heck, I don't even remember seeing the ferris wheel at Pier 57. When did that happen? It's a large and beautiful greenspace that's perfect for locals & tourists alike. We kind of lost our bearings for a bit, but then it became all clear that we were headed the right way to the market. I really like what they have done here. It will be cool to see it again once it's all done, and there's no more construction. It was a nice walk along the bay.

This has become one of my dogs' favorite little outings and it's only about a 15-minute walk from…read morewhere we live, which makes it really convenient. I'm also glad they kept access open even with all the construction happening around Elliott Bay. Despite the name, Pocket Beach isn't really a beach in the traditional sense. It's mostly pebbles and rocks instead of sand, but that's part of what makes it interesting. There are a bunch of big driftwood logs along the shore (not sure if they were placed there or just floated in over time), and they make great spots to sit and enjoy the view. It's actually a really nice place to catch the sunset. On clear evenings the light over Elliott Bay is beautiful and the logs are perfect for sitting and taking it all in. It's also very dog friendly. Lots of people bring their pups, and my fur babies love climbing over the logs, exploring the rocks, and splashing around near the water. Overall it's a great little stop along the Elliott Bay Trail if you want to sit for a bit, enjoy the scenery, or just get outside and relax.

Pioneer Square Habitat Beach takes up a fantastic little slice right next to the downtown ferry…read more It was pretty busy when we dropped in, with several people with dogs playing in the water, and even a cat on a leash. The honey and I nabbed a log and enjoyed the ferry coming in while we ate our general porpoise. The beach has sand, but it's fairly light with much of the space made up of rocks with quite a bit of driftwood. All in all a pretty sweet place to decompress before getting on the ferry.

The renovations to this park has been great! It's great having different paths for cyclists and…read morepedestrians. The beaches are more accessible. The natural flora are beautiful. There are also a lot more seats and picnic tables. My only gripe is the lack of bathrooms. There's one up at the top of the park but the next one is further in the park where Cafe Hagen has opened up. I'm glad that cafe opened up because there needed to be a food option. But the bathrooms are disgusting. They've only been open for a month and it's the only bathroom in the park. They need to do A LOT more cleanings. The staff at the cafe was mostly friendly except the Asian girl that worked on Saturday. She seemed more interested in chatting with her friends than serving customers. It's a shame considering the other staff members were friendly. I hope these are resolved soon. Otherwise the park is beautiful. Just plan your bathroom breaks.

Plan accordingly. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ Outdoor adventures keeps the guided groups small (maximum 12 people). I appreciate the small groups since this was my first time kayaking. Three types of kayaks are available: single, double or triple occupancy. Discover is an accepted form of payment. A Discover Pass is required to park at Spencer Spit. If you do not have a pass, a $10 day pass can be purchased with cash or check. There were several rangers checking passes on our visit so be sure to have a pass visibly displayed to avoid being ticketed. WHAT TO BRING - Signed Release of Liability - Bathing suit or non-cotton under layers preferred - A synthetic shirt (capilene, polypro, Under Armor, etc) - Shorts or pants made of a synthetic material (may get wet/damp) - Lightweight fleece jacket or windbreaker/rain jacket to provide warmth - Water shoes or sandals that strap on (or shoes that can get wet) - Sun hat and/or sunglasses - Sunscreen and chapstick - Water bottle - Optional; Camera, Plastic bag for wet items and change of clothing - If you have a gift certificate or prepaid voucher (such as Groupon) please bring a printed copy with you! Dorito Dan was our guide for the day. Dan was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The first hour is dedicated to introductions, procedures and safety. Be sure to use the restroom before departing. Once on the water, there is no turning back. Kayaking is great for teamwork and communication. Both are required to avoid frustration. I recommend wearing weight-lifting/bicycle gloves in order to prevent blisters. Each person in our group started getting blisters towards the end of the tour. During our 3 mile kayaking trip, we spotted starfish, seals and majestic bald eagles. Thank you Outdoor Adventures for providing a magnificent day of play while surrounded by gorgeous Mother Nature. We all plan to return in the near future for another go-around.

I was able to stand up after about an hour, and I was instantly hooked. Super fun, and totally worth the money. It felt a little expensive at first but the lessons saved me so much time and frustration. Also I now have a bit of a blueprint for how to teach my friends. I'd totally recommend these guys for anyone curious about the sport.

I was able to get up and hydroplane. I couldn't quite get to actually foil but I did way better than I expected and that was all due to Brett! He is very clear, patient and fun to work with. He was able to give us both great instructions even though we are different levels of ability. We got so much time in the water learning. It was soooo fun! I highly recommend him! This is what ultimately led me to choose them, and I was really surprised to find out that they actually stick to their promise! We unfortunately saw no whales during our first outing, but they were able to squeeze us in the next day for another chance at no additional cost. And omg did they deliver!! We saw so many orcas I couldn't even count them. My favorite part was that they put a mic into the water, and we got to listen to them socialize. I wasn't aware they had this and it was such a magical experience to hear them! Our daughter was made to feel both special and grown-up. We got to see a number of whales pretry close-up while Katy described in detail their behaviors, habits, etc. Absolutely would book again.
