Denny Blaine is an amazing historic queer third space, and yes, it is a nude beach. It is fairly small and can get crowded, but the vibes are chill, cool people hang out here, and there's an awesome view of Bellevue from across Lake Washington. If you don't want to see naked people don't go here. This is a very popular nude beach right in the heart of Seattle. It's fairly small, with three "sections", one sandy beach that is the most popular and is relatively secluded, another rocky beach that is less popular, and a long flat grassy area above the beaches. Everyone is naked from the beaches to the street. There is ample parking, as well as portapotties and trash cans. The crowd here trends younger than most nudist spots I've been to, and has really large regular crowd that comes. Not a lot of families but not entirely uncommon to see now and then. Let's are Ok, just be respectful. The water is very nice to swim in, with the first couple feet being rock and then it being sand. As you get deeper there is quite a bit of algae but as long as you don't dive to the bottom you won't touch it. People definitely smoke a lot of weed here. It's a great place to go meet new people, have fun conversations, and spend the afternoon. It's always busy on a nice day and everyone is really laid back. There are very few gawkers and peepers, but they exist. Sometimes they get called out - so be careful! Overall a really great park that is a hidden gem of Seattle and something totally unexpected being so close to downtown. I highly recommend it to anyone! read more

Denny Blaine Park is both park and beach - unofficially for nudists and the inevitable peepers. We were exploring parks along Lake Washington when we came upon Denny Blaine Park. After (accidentally) finding the secluded Howell's (also unofficially for nudists), finding the nude participants at Denny Blaine was less "shocking". Was more surprising is that it's wide open with only nominal tree covers. Participants just let it all hang out. I guess if ya don't care, you just don't care, secluded or not secluded. There were several more gawkers hanging about here vs I didn't notice any at Howell. The beach doesn't look inviting or approachable; I didn't see anyone swimming in it. There were also A LOT of insects flying around. It was gross to be there fully clothed let alone nude. Definitely not an inviting park at the time of my stop, especially because of the insects buzzing. 2 Stars for this visit, it might be a 3 Stars for other times. Not that I'm coming back anytime soon. A noteworthy aspect of this park is the view - Bellevue, Cascades, 520 bridge, and Rainier in the distance. read more

I Googled best swimming areas in the Seattle area and this was on the list. I'm pretty familiar with Lake Washington but haven't heard of this place and the site I went on said there are topless swimmers/sunbather. I thought, "whatever, Seattle is a pretty fun and free spirited city, let people live" and I'm pretty open minded myself. I thought there would be more clothed people than not. I probably should have went to a few more website to fully understand where I was going. We went during one of the hottest days of the summer, and I knew there were going to be people, but maybe not that maybe as usual because of COVID. Boy, I was wrong. There was a lot of people, and very naked at that. It was like Woodstock and the folks there probably went to Woodstock too. It was very crowded and I swear there's a puff of smoke above the area due to how much weed people were using. It just felt really dirty and so crowded. There's only really one opening cove to the lake. And definitely more naked folks than not. It was an interesting surprised to see how many old men have pierced penises. It's an interesting experience and we learned about this nude beach in Seattle. Probably won't be back, but it's a good beach for folks that want to let it all out and be free. read more

They have lights!!!! Christmas lights!!!! The dog off flesh are is all rocks! So not sure how clean/sanitary it is. My puppy isn't too much of a fan! He likes the park, the grass, the trees! I went for a walk around to some little parks. Everything seems quite and pretty. Sun was great so I decided to visit this park with beach. Unfortunately, dogs are not aloud to swim but wanted to stay at least on the grass. But I didn't feel quite safe with some people just staring to what everyone was about to do. A great little park on Lake Washington that is absolutely beautiful on summer days. As others have mentioned, it is a clothing optional area that is mainly a lesbian hangout (gay men tend to go to nearby Howell park) but all are welcome, including people of all ages and body types. Denny Blaine is a pretty park, a bit run down in spots it seems but the view is great of Lake Washington! On hot days you could probably go in for a swim! The park is not very big and does not have things like playground equipment or anything like that. It would be a great place to picnic however! This park is very, very close to the former Seattle residence of Kurt Cobain, the same home that he passed away in. It is not however the same park where the memorial bench is. That is actually another park that is right next to the house itself, Viretta Park. This park is categorized as 'nudist" but you probably would need to use a lot of discretion in doing so since there are no signs here indicating that it is encouraged. I went to try and go for a quick au naturale swim yesterday AM and I didn't feel safe, so I just went to Howell instead(sorry fellows). Your experience will vary wildly. I've been going here for about 5 years now and about 60% of the time its just AMAZING! -A local spot with *warm water ( a very shallow and long sloping drop off mixed with this beach being surrounded by walls going out about 70feet into the water, protects it from cold current flows and allows the water to reach 80+ degrees on hot days, tested by my friends floating baby bath water thermometer) and its free to park and often not *crazy busy so you can find a spot to lay a blanket easily. The water is warm enough and no one cares if you float nude on your floaty wayyyy out there either. its common if its busy, in fact. The grassy areas are flat, and fine though often covered in dead grass. There is little litter or none with several regularly emptied trash cans. Drinking is accepted if you're not getting hammered and people have actually called the cops on belligerence, so there is that, too. The "sand" is small rocks mostly but there is large patches of actual sand and the small rocks don't hurt your feet, and the underwater parts are sandy. ...But the other 40% of the time, something went wrong. *How wrong will also vary wildly. Ranging from small(?) issues like creepers of all sorts, usually just one or two 70yo dudes who will sit and watch you. like that's it. they just sit or stand nude 20 feet away and face the people not the water and just stare at you. its odd. its more than odd actually. Or medium(?) issues like homeless people who will come to fully bath in the water on a medium rare occasion. There are also the bigger(?) issues of evening women who will take drugs and flirt with everyone trying to give out a quick one for $$$ and of course the men who came here to find those women. There are also the Alt-Lefties who will rant LOUDLY and with ANGER about ____ issue without so much as a blushed cheek. Seriously. They start political debates with nude strangers and seem to not follow any social norm at all. It gets heated. Its awkward for everyone. ---This beach is actually just like the regular Seattle experience except nude and with water. Slightly more often than not, its fine. Wonderful even! And about 40% of the time there is a homeless woman trying to rent her mouth to you for $25 or two packs of NewPorts next to free-bleeder who is singing along to her head-phoned rage against the machine at full volume but replacing certain lyrics with 'patriarchy' while you try desperately to inflate your floaty and just get the F___ away under the watchful, caring, and ALL SEEING EYES of some 68yo leather tanned creeper who is just standing there watching you at a distance of 15 feet. I've heard about this place from my bestfriend. My fiance and I decided to check it out, and we had fun hanging around there. The idea of being semi-naked or fully-naked in front of strangers is weird, but I think you'll feel comfortable the moment you get there. Nobody cares what you do as long as you don't disturb him/her in his/her space. The park is cool with the fact it has 3 levels: 1) the level align with the parking lot is for folks who still want to keep their clothes on 2) the level down from level 1 is for folks with semi-nudes 3) the lowest level - or next to the private beach - is for folks who are comfortable with complete nakedness. You should come to Denny-Blaine if you are interested in getting a full tan and let your body "free" without any men cat-calling you or women thinking you're slutty. Plus, the water temperature is usually warm. I was able to go into the water when I first came to the park. It felt great! Once in a while, you might encounter a scene where a family accidentally takes their members there without knowing the history of the park. I once saw a kid , who freaked out, ran back to his parents and screamed, "Dad! Mom! We have to get outta here! These people are getting naked!" read more

While cruising along Lake Washington Blvd saddling a beautiful Triumph Thruxton rental on a beautiful, pleasant & sunny Seattle day, I glanced at the numerous parks along the water's edge for a different more quiet pit stop. DBP stuck out. I had no idea or forgotten it was also a bare all place but I don't care what people do. As long as they're respectful, mind their biz, etc. it's all good. Mostly males spotted with a few hetero-couples, with the typical occasional strolling by visitor. I wonder how long it's been considered a nudist spot? But since being naked in all of Seattle is allowed and legal why not go to an actual pretty beach like Seward Park down on the South side? Plus there's a waaay better view of Mt. It's a pretty little park but when I was there I was the only woman for a while. Definitely mostly naked men here and one man had some kink he was acting out, getting clothed and unclothed continuously, stroking his genitals. Many people were smoking cigarettes and pot. There is zero awareness or respect that there's no smoking allowed in Seattle parks. I politely asked a nearby (like two feet away from the shade we had found on the beach)naked man to not smoke but he was very rude and cursed at me. Yes, I had my dog there and they aren't allowed either but is your health harmed from my dog being nearby? No. It was a hot sunny day so it got crowded, mostly men, two couples of women when we left. The nearby McMansions had very noisy garden work being done, leaf blowers, so this is not a quiet peaceful place to breathe good air and be topless for women, sadly. read more

Once upon a time, this was the place to get to second base with a large portion of the Lesbian population in Seattle. Sadly, that information became widely disseminated. Boats full of skeeves were coming in as close to the shore as they could get sporting binoculars, and the creepiest of men were lining the wall above the beach popping tents in their dirty sweats pants. Yes. Very sad. However, the stigma of Dykiki Beach lives on. The result being a very low key crowd; lots of tattoos, very few children - zero asshole, overindulgent, hyper-sensitive parents - and, now that there are no free boobies, lower than the average number of skeevy freaks. No, there's not a bathroom - you just have to resign yourself to the fact that people are peeing all around you. But, let's be honest - that's always the case, isn't it? Since there are no lifeguards, no one's going to stop you from swimming way the hell out to do it - so you can have some decorum. I'm hoping people DO possess SOME decorum. I have to believe it because there is just nothing like Lake Washington in the middle of July; nothing like Mt. Rainier sitting there all gorgeous on one side and Mt. Baker peaking at you from the other. This, my friends, is why we put up with winters that start in October and end in June. Denny Blaine is a lovely place to just go and let it all hang out; you could probably still do the topless thing (I'm not going there, but have at it), and you can certainly leave body-conscious insecurities you have behind. For instance, today I decide to wear a bottom that covered a lot less of my ass-side than normal. Great until I realize that skin that hasn't seen the sun in YEARS had a nice 4 1/2 hour dose. On the beach near Madison is a great place to lay in some sand, get the rays on and cool off in Lake Washington. After a few rocky steps in the water the bottom drops off and you can float, splash and dive around - keeping an eye on the boats getting a bit too close to the buoy. Now that it is the end of the season I don't mind sharing my rave review of Denny Blaine Park. Before now I was saving its splendor for myself. The park itself is small. A circular drive with some grass and trees in the middle and parking along a low wall dotted with gorgeous short street lights in front. Step down from parking onto a nice level area of lush green grass with a few more trees. Down the stairs leads you closer to the water to another nice level patch of grass. Finally, make your way to the waters edge where there is a sandy area, but mostly the rocky shore. I often watched people swim, and float and genius pool floats in the shallows. Everything is clean. The patrons are generally pretty quiet. It is a great place for a picnic and some wine. Even the drive there is magnificent with peeks at great homes along the water after a winding drive through the much larger arboretum. I will be there this weekend with a book and a smile. read more

I will start by saying that this is still my favorite beach in Seattle. I love that there are no lifeguards and you can float to your heart's content on air mattresses with nobody yelling at you, and that dogs can chill as well. I also liked lesbian vibe and comfortable toplessness thing. I like that people can drink and smoke pot. But what I don't like is the recent influx of completely buck ass naked men. It's one thing to be naked (although, um, I thought you could just do that next-door at Howell beach? but a whole other thing to be massaging sunscreen onto your shaved balls while standing at the foot of the water in front of the entire place. It's funny, I never really think of this area as a "park" per se since it's just a point on my long run loop, but it's an awesome spot to take a breather on the way home or just to sit and relax and enjoy the view. Most of the time there's almost no one else around, so you get a great sort of zen vibe. This sleepy area between Madison Park & Madrona is one of my faves, and I've even started recognizing some regular dog walkers on the weekends who often say good morning to me :) If you're in the area (running, biking, driving, whatever) pull over and enjoy the stillness and majestic view! read more

I am fond of this little park, and have had many quaint gatherings here with my friends and with my dog. It's a great place to decompress between work and home and is not usually very crowded. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because it is also between 2 private residences, that sometimes feels a bit like trespassing. Such an amazing park close enough to the ocean and not too far from the city. I love how the park isn't big at all--I would say about 60 people can fit. However I'm sure no one wants that many people there. If you are looking for a place to relax with a small group of friends, significant other or by yourself, Denny Blaine Park is the place to be. This is a beautiful park that is kind of tucked away from the main street. I frequently visit here with my dog on sunny days when the main Madison Park lures crowds and children. It has excellent views of Lake Washington and is a nice peaceful place to relax, sit and eat lunch. read more

I actually started going to Denny Blaine park back in July 2020. And I really love this park a lot. Especially the clothing optional part. And every time I go there and I run around nude there and swim there, I always feel like a majestic animal like a lion, tiger, bear, or a panther, or a wolf as well especially when I come out of the water. And the people there are extremely nice and really awesome and people there are always fun to party with especially at night. And people there are very friendly and nice. And at night time when people start doing the bon fires, it's just a great and awesome environment, there is the fire, people are playing music and people there love to party and be wild and dance and most of all be naked. And if your friendly some people will give you something to drink depending on who you are and if your fun to hang out with and if you don't cause any drama or trouble. But yeah for me, I fell in love with this beach not just because it's a nude beach, but it's definitely one of the best swimming and summer locations in Seattle. Oh and you will also get tan head to toe if you bring sunscreen. And also what really makes this place really special is that it's on Lake Washington and you have the Bellevue skyline as well. read more

Denny Blaine is a small beach park in the Madison Valley. Being from San Diego, I have to change my standards of Washington Beaches. Denny Blaine has three tiers where people can sit. The first level is at the beach, it is a pretty small space. I would say you could fit about forty people into the beach space. Up one level is a grassy park part. A wall blocks the view of the beach, but you can still see the water. The third Tier is another grassy park. I would say each level matches your comfort with nudity. The closer you get to level one the more nudity you see. read more

I used to love this beach, many years ago. It has always been a little loose about clothing but for the most part it was subtle and still relatively benign for most groups. Went down there today and found a bunch of men, and only men, in various states of aroused and walking around in view of the parking loop. I'm alright with some nudity but the naked aroused guys all over the place was uncomfortable for me and my friend, both younger women. -Just a heads up for others. read more

A really beautiful spot to relax. There is a grassy area leading down to the beach so you can take your dogs out there or let them swim. The beach is sandy so bring a beach towel so you can sit out in the sun. It is a small beach in a little cove. The people who go still seem to be very relaxed people-some women sunning topless, kids, older folks with their dogs....it was a very mixed crowed.
