Disappointed, but seeing no other option, I took my dress to be altered, and they cannot put in a corset, they will have to change the whole dress! BTW.. 6in off! That's a huge difference! It took 45 minutes for her to pin everything in place, and I really appreciated her thoroughness and focus. In the end she had to hem it and take it in significantly at the waist and under the arms, which involved multiple layers of different fabrics, removal and reapplication lace appliques and an attached belt, and reshaping the entire top. She priced out each individual alteration so I knew exactly how much it would cost for each step. The turnaround time was very fast for how much work she had to do and how busy her shop is, and when I came back to try it on it was perfect.
