Chuckles is owned by husband and wife, Jerry and Mary. Last year they moved from Bridge Avenue to around the corner on Dixie Highway south of Bridge Ave. They are now located in Hobe Sound's charming shopping district. This is the coolest store. It is crammed with unique items around ever corner. How about a giant Egyptian statue or a King Tut sarcophagus bookcase? Maybe a bobcat taxidermy. The furniture was gorgeous and so was the art. You could lose all track of time browsing the multiple rooms of books that would make Belle weep with joy. This is the kind of store that makes you want everything. Chuckles is filled with treasures.

There are a variety of restaurants and shops including Tommy Bahamas,Salt life and Calaveros Cantina. There is an outdoor Amphitheater for concerts and performances. Before Harbourside was built the land was occupied by a bank building, the Perry Institute for Marine Science and the Burt Reynolds Museum. In early 2000 Jupiter purchased the land and Harbourside opened in December of 2014. In the summer of 2021, Harbourside rebranded by reducing its retail space by 70 percent in favor of outdoor dining and small gatherings. They prefer to generate income from offices. Under the new plan live music concerts which had been a source of complaints and lawsuits would be reduced to 10 a year. With less stores Harbourside is hoping to be more known for its special events. There is a classic car show once a month on Saturdays and on Sunday mornings there is an outdoor yoga class. There is also a waterfront market I attended with small businesses and food vendors. Jupiter's 2.5 mile Riverwalk pathway runs from Oceanside at the beach and crosses over the Intracoastal to Harbourside. The path allows people biking and traveling by foot to follow the Intracoastal north to the Jupiter inlet. It is nice to walk along the path within Harbourside. Harbourside has free parking in the garage if you stay under 2 hours. The Burt Reynolds and Friends Museum was a hard loss to the community. He was Jupiter's favorite son. There isn't anywhere I'd shop in Harbourside but I like the Tommy Bahamas (to eat), BurgerFi, Subculture Coffee, and Calaveras Cantina. It seems like Jupiter is a little lost on how to best use this prime real estate. There isn't very much to make you want to stick around although the water view is beautiful. Hopefully they will get it figured out and make Harbourside a not to be missed destination experience.

Went back to pick it up and it was a completely different cabinet and color- something that you would buy at Hobby Lobby. When I spoke to the owner - she was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Said she would order another one- I said at this point I didn't want the cabinet- as I drove 2 hours to pick it up. She said that she was ordering it anyway. I said that I would go to my credit card company to help resolve the issue. She texted and said if I did, I wouldn't get the cabinet or my money- that she had done this before and always won. When I disputed the charge- she lied and told the credit card company that I received the cabinet. I have spent thousands of dollars in her store over the last 5 years and will never shop there again and I tell everyone I know to steer clear. Still fighting the charge and will be going to small claims court.

The entrance area is air conditioned but still a little to warm, once you cross over into the second area the heat is on and only intensifies when you climb the wooden steps to the loft. A word of caution the loft area has a few changes in elevation as you walk across the wooden planks, although they are marked they pose a hazard and this is a distraction I didn't want to deal with. Both times, the inventory was completely different, which makes every visit feel like a new experience. What makes this place so unique is that all of the merchandise comes from local businesses. You'll find everything from cake pops, juices, ice cream, and fish dip to jewelry, hats, and a small selection of clothing. On my most recent visit, I picked up cooking oils, organic coffee, sourdough bread, and a few other goodies. Just keep in mind--it's a bit hit or miss depending on when you go, since the vendors and products rotate. That's part of the charm, though. The last time I visited was in December, and since then they've had a grand reopening with a new owner, which is exciting. Overall, I think this is an amazing concept--basically like 100 small businesses sharing one space, each with their own little section. It's a great way to support local vendors while discovering new products you wouldn't normally come across. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new items pop up on the shelves.
