This is my go-to second cup. A convenient meet-up spot has lead to me spending a lot of time here. Initially, not impressed by their renovations and change to their menu I was considering taking my business elsewhere but something kept bringing me back. It could be the company's enticing drink categories such as 'flash-freeze' and 'frochos', or it could be the warm, inviting atmosphere; but something keeps drawing me back. Problem is: on more than one occasion I've bought a drink, taken a sip and remembered why I vowed never to order the drink again the last time I had ordered it. Leading me to a love-hate relationship with their menu. Pros: Tucked in the corner of Lawrence plaza parking is usually very easy. Clean and convenient washrooms. Friendly staff who get to know you. A great selection of drinks. A perfect atmosphere to sit and chat. Open 365!!! One of the few places in the area open on Christmas (early morning means I need my coffee, even on Christmas!) Downside: It sometimes takes me a while to 'love' the drink I ordered. It can be busy in the morning. They can be very short staffed at times, meaning 1-2 servers are running around like crazy. read more

UPDATE: Drove by as I was going to the Bank Machine there in October and noticed the location had been renovated. Just past closing time but from outside it looked like they were doing a much better job taking care of it. I dropped in a couple of times since then and was very pleased by greatly improved cleanliness and service, well kept condiment counter, lots of varieties of coffee on tap even in the last hour of service, much better washrooms. Not sure if they changed franchisee or manager but i saw no sign of the dour older woman who seemed to run things in the past. Of course it's very soon after renovation so it figures to make a better impression, but i am encouraged by what I've seen and will suspend my boycott for as long as they keep up the new standard. read more

This is a nice Second Cup in a hectic plaza. Friendly service, lots of selection kosher, vegan and otherwise. I paid for my coffee and asked them to hold it behind the counter while I used their washroom. Passed another woman on the way who handed off the key - but who did not tell me the lights were out! A debate between my mind and body, my body won out and I carefully made my way about the cavernous single washroom in the dark. Really wish I had thought of the flashlight app in time. Of course I let them know as I collected my coffee that they needed to fix the light and they were very apologetic. read more

Hope this doesn't make me sound like a bad Canadian, but I prefer Starbucks over Second Cup any day. That being said, my pal and I decided on this coffee shop because my pal lives just down the street. In the Lawrence Plaza, there's a huge lot on site so driving here is a good option. There are also a number of other establishments here, which is good if you have other errands to run (i.e) Metro, Shoppers, TD Bank. There are a number of tables along with comfortable chairs in the Second Cup, which makes this location a good place for coffee dates. They sell a number of treats with a good selection of Kosher and gluten-free items. My latte was a-okay; the wait time was short considering there were only two staff members for a lot more customers. The only thing that stood out to me was the fact that washrooms needed keys. Anyway, the Second Cup in Lawrence Plaza is a-ok. There are like 500 coffee shops within the radius of my place so this location won't be my 'go to.' This Second Cup at Lawrence & Bathurst in Toronto is clean, and provides good service. The coffee is good, of course. My friend likes their Mocha better than Starbucks'. Everything comes at the easy prices you can expect from a Second Cup. It looks like there are a couple entries for this Second Cup on Yelp. However, I could not find it in my Android app when I was at the location. I know at least one of the other entries has an incorrect postal code. Hopefully this entry will bring attention at Yelp and get this Second Cup showing to people in the area. read more

This is a bit overdue but I thought I'd share anyways. On thanksgiving, I was running late on dinner plans over at a friend's house. All nearby grocery stores were closed and I came into this Second Cup asking if I could purchase the entire cheesecake (even though it was pre-cut, I didn't care). There was a sign that even said something along the lines of "whole cakes sold here!" Long story short, the lady tried to sell me that 12 slice cheesecake for $50.00!!!! I was desperate but I decided to go to my dinner empty handed instead. On another note, I live nearby this area... This isn't the cleanest Second Cup not the most customer service oriented location I've been to. The layout is also a bit clustered. read more

3.5 stars for this place. I used to study here over a decade ago when I was in high school over coffee and italian sodas. And then when I was in university it went through a SUPER sketchy phase. But now, it's quite nice! The decor is lovely and there is ample seating, which is good because it gets super busy. They also have some treats from Sweets from the Earth, which is awesome for going for coffee with your vegan friends. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but if you live in the area or are visiting friends who do, it's a nice neighbourhood coffee place. It's situated in Lawrence Plaza where you will also find a Metro, Winners, Shoe Company, Shoppers and The United Bakery. And it's a block away from Barbara Frum library. Second Cup in general...they charge $0.50 for soya milk (actually, I think they may have increased to $.66 like Starbucks), so I try to avoid going there when possible. Whereas with Starbucks if you use the starbucks card the fee is waived, there is no such equivalent for Second Cup - boo! read more

The Bathurst/Lawrence location used to be my favorite. Cozy seats and fireplace, lactose free milk, they make a perfect cup, an abundance of pastries with prompt service and consistently good coffee. I went there with the gfriend and the place has been renovated. It now sports wooden chairs, bright lights and IKEA like decor reminds me of a seating section of the Whole Foods store. The coziness is gone. The pastry fridge was almost empty at 5pm and the remaining choices looked stale. The barrister acted spacey but the coffee was as good as always. And to top it all off, we were pestered by an old man who kept a monologue and tryin to touch my friend, as he was looking for a wife!! No one came to intervene and the whole experience was ruined. I will not return to this location after 20 years living in this neighbourhood! read more

The coffee is good if it's fresh, best tip- ask for a perfect cup of whatever bean they have, it's fresh as can be and extra flavourful! The atmosphere at this location is a little bit unusual, it's hard to have a coffee without being interrupted by all the crazy characters in and around the store. The store needs an update as the interior is drab and outdated. It's an interesting location that's for sure! read more

Second Cup got back to me regarding the cold interior. Apparently it is a known issue and they are looking to resolve it. However, I'll wait until it is resolved to give them another star. They could have had a notice on the inside of the coffee shop letting everyone know that they know. But still, the fact they got back to me so quickly and are looking to resolve it is a very good step in the right direction. read more

Second Cup does not participate in the City of Toronto recycling program, which is easily confirmed as the shop offers no option to recycle plastics, which means everything consumers throw out including recyclables all goes carelessly to garbage. In the 21st century, and with the serious threat of climate change I don't support or respect any business that turns an ignorant blind eye to the environment and our planet. It was very busy last time I was there on a Saturday afternoon, but I managed to find a comfy chair in the back by the fireplace. I love that they have all kinds of snacks and pastries to choose from, and even little chocolate-covered marshmallow bites for those who are watching their figures but still want a little treat with their coffee. I love the convenient parking. It's located in Lawrence Plaza. I live near that coffee house. I wish I lived somewhere else. My dad won't touch anything unkosher, and this is one of the Second Cup coffee houses that has a lot of kosher products. read more

It was honestly, the worst mistake I have ever decided to come and grab a cake. I thought that it would have been good because its cake and it looked to me that a lot of people got a slice from the big cake. But omg not only was it overpriced it was dry, like overly dry that I thought i was eating a cake that had been sitting their for weeks on the table. Fine, I know that it was expensive and I should not complain about cost because its second cup, but omg for the price I paid ($5 -$6) to get such a bad slice, is beyond ridiculous. I could buy a whole cake, at loblaws for $20 bucks from the same company second cup uses. If you want to save yourself don't even bother with getting their cakes. read more
