The smoothies are in collaboration with Bolt Smoothies. They also had several pastries on sale as well. City Dance Corps and Cat's Eye Coffee is in a building with several businesses and companies as well, which makes it convenient for the employees to grab a good cup of coffee in the area. I stopped by Cat's Eye Coffee on a Thursday around noon. The staff was friendly. There were already two other customers chatting when I visited. I ordered a cappuccino which was made at a reasonable time. I also noticed the smoothies available, all which sounded delicious. They do use Pilot Coffee Roasters. I sat down to enjoy my cappuccino which was made well. Definitely a good cup of coffee around the Ossington/Dupont area!

--The Down Low-- Food: 5/5…read moreService: 5/5 Quality vs. Price: 5/5 Vibe: 4/5 I came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast with a friend. This cafe is located within City Dance Corps. It is quite compact with a handful of seating. One thing I would note about the atmosphere is that it may not be ideal for those who like to work at cafes because there is a lot of activity and movement from customers coming in and out from dance classes, including from excited children and chatter. Some may find this activity distracting. The washrooms are also shared with the dance company. I ordered a croissant that I got warmed in the toaster oven, which was a generous size and was satisfying and crispy. All the pastries and sandwiches are sourced through a partnership with the Petite Thuet bakery. The total cost came to about $4 CAD, which I would consider on par with a downtown cafe, and I felt happy with the quality of the pastry I received. If you are in the Dovercourt area, this cafe is a nice spot to drop by for a little bite and drink.

Thankfully, even though I live close by, it's not convenient to visit this location so I save a ton…read moreof money. However, let me explain why! I will also briefly point out what they do well. Let's start with the good: friendly staff, well organized location and they've never gotten my order wrong. They generally have everything a Toronto Starbucks offers and lots of space to sit/stand/wait. Now, the downsides to this location: avoid before/after school and lunch time. Heavily visited by the students from the 2 major high schools in the area. Also, you can only access the parking lot while driving north on Avenue. Turning left off of Lawrence? Not fun and then you have to cross two lanes of traffic. Turning right off Lawrence? Easier but not particularly convenient. Traveling south? Just find a different location. Then the parking lot is not user friendly! Limited spots, can't turn around easily and there are massive cement blocks in the way. There is some additional parking at Shoppers but they don't like people parking if you aren't shopping there. Final thoughts: typical Starbucks but very low in the convenience category.

They made a small mistake with my order, preparing it to go when I wanted to dine in. The owner became so furious and yelled at them. I saw how upset the employees were by this mistreatment, but said nothing. Both employees were clearly troubled by how the owner treated them. When I confronted this abusive man and asked why he treated his employees so badly over a minor mistake, he responded by saying, "You're shit, and I don't want you to come back." It was unbelievable to witness this kind of behavior in Toronto, Canada. I understand that mad people can be found everywhere, but his level of customer service was more like what you'd expect in a third-world country, not in Canada. I didn't touch my food and left the place immediately. When an owner treats not only his employees horribly but also his customers, it's obvious that his business is struggling and won't last long, and rightfully so. No wonder the café was nearly empty--who would want to be emotionally abused? Save your money and don't support this restaurant. Let his business die.

The salads are made fresh, so you'll usually have to wait around 10mins for your salad to be made. The smoothies are ok. Healthy, but also slightly bland. Since this is a cafe, they have lots of tea and coffee options along with some pastries. *UPDATE* I honestly don't like to leave negative reviews, but I went from tolerating this place to hating it. Every time I go into this place, it's empty and it takes them so long to make a salad. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time during lunch, so I've started using the ritual app, which there should be no wait and no line. You get there, pick up your order and leave. Well that's not the case. I not only showed up later than what ritual told me it would be ready (which is usually bang on) but I came later than the estimated time by ritual, and still had to wait another 10 mins for the salad to be made! To top it, I asked for no olives. Instead I got so so many olives in the salad. I understand, mistakes can happen, but when it's every single time I go there... that's just carelessness. Sadly the customer service there is just poor poor poor. The food is simple and delicious but really overpriced. Won't be back there since I have enough times and chances coming to this place.

A central workstation features a large table with seating for 4-6 people. However, the chairs lack back support and are quite uncomfortable - I ended up standing for the two hours I was there. The café offers Wi-Fi and has four outlets for charging devices. A small iced Americano costs $4.75 (tax included, no tip), though prices don't appear to be displayed anywhere in the store. The pastry selection is limited. Music consists of slow, relaxing tracks that match the café's ambiance, but the volume is a bit too high for conversation or focused work. Service was excellent - very friendly and polite. One staff member asked if the music was too loud and adjusted the volume when I said yes. Later, when I asked for a fork (despite not having ordered food), he kindly found one, washed and dried it in front of me, and handed it over. The washroom was relatively clean, though the handwashing station outside the washroom is cluttered, with items like a fridge and extra tables stored in the area.
