McDonald's - Place and pay your own orders

After reading other reviews of this place, I had been doubting if this was really the same…read moreMcDonald's I've been to when I drove with friends to Banff to Edmonton. And yes, it was indeed the one where stopped to use the restroom and a quick bite. Yes, the restroom wasn't comparable to the ones found in hotels but it's clean enough. Same with the dining room, floors, and counters. At the time of my visit, there were enough personnel taking care of customers. This branch has an automated self-serve kiosk where you can place and pay for your order. We ordered breakfast items which were served fast by efficient employees. It may not be the best McDonald's restaurant I'd been to but its a pretty decent

One of the worst McDonalds experiences I've had. Food was the same general OK hamburger…read moresubstitute. But the experience sucked. It started at the drive through - I had new drive throughs because you never know what you're supposed to be doing, but the "order" screen is just past the menu, so I wasn't sure how far to drive up to order. I couldn't see where the speaker was (it was dark). I asked for my standard big mac, large fries, large coke. I heard her repeat the large fries and coke, and then say something about the third window. I was going to order more, but I saw Large fries and large coke flash on the screen for a second that you're supposed to confirm your order on, then it went blank again. So I started yelling hello, and wait at where I assumed the speaker was for 30 seconds or so with no response, until the guy behind me honked his horn to get me moving. At the window I had to correct the order to your generic bored drive through window person. At least when my order arrived it was correct, I've learned to check before driving away. After a quick glance in my bag I noted there was no receipt in it - usually it's there, and I need it for business expense claiming. So there I was for the second time waving like an idiot at a closed window trying to get the drive through person to notice me so I could ask for the receipt I should have gotten the first time. Minor things make a big difference when you've been on the road for 10 hours and are looking at yet another night in a hotel. Maybe we shouldn't expect much from these fast food places, but don't we deserve better?

We stopped in on a Sunday for brunch/lunch over the holiday season between Christmas and New Years…read moreand I was happy that they were open! Easy to pop into from the highway 2 and since it's part of a strip mall area there was plenty of parking nearby. We were seated right away, the space is quite large and bright. Very sunny vibes. The single person bathrooms are nice but there are only 3 of them I think. I right away was eager to try their fancy coffee - in particular the caramel tiramisu latte (topped with caramel drizzle, whipped cream and cinnamon sprinkle ($5.99) but this drink was a bit of a let down in my opinion. Over the top sweet and since it's served in a glass cup it doesn't retain its heat, gets cold fast, and is actually kind of small. I get that it's a latte but the sheer sweetness makes me wonder is there any coffee in it? Okay I've given you the worst part the food was not disappointing! We ordered the Hot honey chicken Benedict ($19.99) and this was divine! The spicy and sweet combo was excellent and I loved that it got on the Hashbrowns too! Good serving size and eggs were perfect. We also had to order some pancakes and asked for the most popular, which was the signature stacks Cinnabon cakes ($15.99). These were huge and terribly delightful! Fluffy and the sauce combination of cream cheese icing and whip and icing sugar- wowzers! Very good and a reason it's a popular choice. We also got a kids pancakes ($8.49) and added a side of sausage ($2.49). Overall a nice spot for a spot of breakfast.

We came to Stack for a special Mother's Day breakfast and left completely disappointed due to rude…read moreand inattentive service. From the start, our server, Kya, was cold and unhelpful. She never brought a kids' menu, disappeared for long stretches, and ignored our repeated requests for water--it finally showed up right before we left. Even when we asked other servers, we were met with, "I'm busy, you'll have to wait," rather than any willingness to help. When we politely asked Kya about her attitude, her only reply was, "Do you want the manager?" The rudeness and lack of care from beginning to end ruined what should have been a pleasant, celebratory morning. We won't be back.
