I've been in here a few times. I for one would buy more horror blu ray/dvd if they had them in one category. Nobody has time to sort through stuff alphabetically! Also don't try and sell every cult classic video at eBay prices. Let people find a gem once in a while. read more

When I walked into Second Chance I got major Disc Replay vibes because they look so similar. Wall to wall aisles of dvds and I was in heaven thinking about how I could fit all of them on my shelves. I used to have a dvd collection of over 500 dvds until someone sold them without my permission but this place could help me build it back up to its former glory. I chose to write this in February, the month of love, because I love dvds and anyone who loves me knows how excited I get when I recieve a new movie or tv series. I would literally be in heaven if someone bought be a boat load of movies here for Valentines day, or really any day. I will definitely continue to come back here when in Kalamazoo to make my movie dreams come true. read more

I brought my Xbox in after they quoted my husband a price and they looked it over and low, balled me feeling quite insulted I took back my system. When I got home, I realized they stole my power cord, which I didn't realize at the time... I called them back and had to go back (I don't live close) they replaced it with a aftermarket cord, which again at the time I didn't realize there was a difference ... then another employee told me that they had a bunch of Xbox is in the back they just needed cords for him. I thought it was weird because they are selling a whole bunch of aftermarket cords but didn't think anything suspicious because who would rip off their customer ... I get home and show my husband what I got and he was pissed and I realize I was taken again ... and then they also had another Xbox out, probably with a cord that they stole from me I'm really turned off with this place and probably will not be back because now I lost most of my resale value because I don't have the original cord. Super cool guys. In my opinion, they are super sexist and try to get down on the women especially if they don't necessarily know a lot about what they are selling or receiving Super disappointing. Looking to rock out some old school game play?! Second Chance is the place to be. They have old game systems that you can purchase for a decent affordable prices. They also have tons of options for games. This place also sells movies that you may not find anywhere else. The reason for the lower rating is due to the prices of some of the games and accessories. I went in to purchase a memory card for a PS2 and they only had one size, 8MG for $7.99. That's a lot! I found on amazon 128MG 2 pk. for the same price and since I have Prime, free shipping! I'll go back depending on what it is I want to buy. read more

I love stores like this. Chances are if you remember a game from childhood that you loved playing, they have it! Same with movies. It is cool to explore and find some amazing things here and all for great prices. I do see that there are several negative reviews on customer service and I want to say that I went to Second Chance on October 12th and I didn't have any negative experience with customer service. One of the staff members actually was searching for all the movies and games with me to find some things I was looking for. Cost: Can't really beat getting 2 games and 2 movies for $14. Atmosphere: Organized in Alphabetical order which is nice for people like me that also organizes my movies at home that way. Overall: I give this place 4 stars and will be back. read more

I used to think second chance was good. Until one day I was going to purchase something with in-store credit. The atmosphere when I walked in felt different. It felt tense. They never gave me a receipt for the credit and I thought they just had it written down in their book somewhere. So I was going to buy a ps2 game with the $30 that I had and was going to pay until they said I didnt have any. I was confused and they checked again. After about 30 seconds an employee comes out telling us that there is no credit and I am not welcome here unless I actually want to pay. Very sad. Second Chance is what I like to refer to as "GameStop if it wasn't so focused on only the cutting edge". I can wander into this place and spend a good long while among the stacks of old games and movies and DVD sets and everything else they've got on the shelves here. The biggest thing here, however, is the sheer amount of old video games and consoles for sale. If you're an old school gamer (confession: I've been playing since the days of the 8-bit NES), then you know that coming across certain titles- or even just plain finding games for certain old systems is a chore that usually sends you off to the Googles, the Amazons, or the eBays to try to find a copy of something that's not a sports title. This place manages to keep a stock of old games- you'll find things you never knew existed, and a good stack of old games for systems like the Super Nintendo, the Sega Genesis, pretty much anything your old gamer heart could desire. Do they have a copy of a specific old game in stock? They might have it, they might not- no guarantees. But at least it's a place to go and check. About the only downside to this place is that you're not going to find a lot of cutting edge stuff here- I stopped in to check to see if they might have had a used copy of Mario Kart for the Switch, and they only had about two racks full of Switch games at the moment- I suspect most used Switch, PS4 and XBox One stuff is still Gamestop's domain at the minute. I wish it was here, though. Hopefully I'll get back to Kalamazoo to get to rummage through the stacks here a bit more thoroughly sooner rather than later- I've been craving some good old school gaming, and this place should have what I'm looking for! read more

I love the atmosphere of Second Chance, and chances are they will have the game/movie you're looking for. However, customer service is a little rough. I was laughed at when I was told the NES I bought from the store didn't work, which wasn't the best feeling. I still go here despite the customer service. Just wish it would improve. read more

The customer service here is incredibly poor and its time to speak up. Theyve gone down hill since they moved from their location across the street and Im tired of being quiet about it. I am the type of consumer who shops local and prefers to go to things that are attended by humans because I like seeing people employed (ie No self check outs for this guy). Basically, the workers are very standoffish. I have been buying and selling games there for years, I have even trusted them to leave my store credit in their books for future use when they didnt have something in stock. This is the type of place that may have something you want but if the right people arent working its best to just turn around and leave without even looking. I have done it on countless occasions. I would also like to make clear that I bought many of the DVDs there and never once even used them. So basically they will sell you a product that they feel isnt good enough to buy but they will surely sell it to you. Then when you go back with the same thing they say its not good enough. They cant get their story or business practices straight. I have been biting my tongue due to the increasingly bad customer service there. I was told that my disks were too scratched. Some of them had shallow scratches that are easily buffed out. I hadnt noticed some of these minor scratches but most did not as you can see from the photo I attached. All they had to do was tell me they werent interested in my stuff that day. Instead they said they were too scratched and then I showed them non scratched discs. Then they told me their machine wasnt working. So I asked them which one was it a non-working machine or scratches because I will be back. Thats when they told me its because it costs too much money to run the machine than buying the items from me are worth. Excuse after contradicting excuse. I kept asking which one it was. Again, all they had to do was say they werent interested. Instead they started judging me. I was called angry, I was told I was arguing, and all I was doing was asking what I expressed to them were hard questions they couldnt answer because they lied. One worker told me to leave and let them do their job. I told them customer service is part of their job. They said they dont get "angry" customers. Yet another lie. Whenever you deal in sales you deal with disappointment and disatisfaction, it goes with the territory. Still you have to retain those customers as a small business. That is just the name of the game. I was so disappointed by how I was treated after I left that I went back inside and let them know that just because someone asks them a question they cant answer honestly because they lied doesnt mean they have to start abusing the customer. Its cause and effect, you lie and it comes back to haunt you and then you keep telling enough lies and mistreating people badly long enough and it comes back to bite you. Of course they really didnt like it when I offered them that bit of advice. On another instance a worker got angry at me for asking about their increase in prices. She told me they stay competitive with online pricing. When I went on my phone and showed her online pricing she said that she already gave me an answer and I said it doesnt match up with what I am seeing. I could go on but I will stop there with examples. It is this double speak that they have that these young kids they employ must not understand that when they lie someone might just let them know they are aware of said lies. When you lie you have to show humility and let the customer come first, especially when that customer is a regular like myself. You can see other reviews across the net where people have experienced the same things here. Anyway, avoid this place if you appreciate customer service. Sometimes they have cool stuff so its a trade off but I for one cannot support a business where I am mistreated for years. read more

This place has all the Gameboy, Gameboy SP, N64 games that I have always wanted, plus I can trade in my played out games and get fresh ones.

My favorite place to go for anything gaming related. They have an awesome selection of old and new games/systems, but by far the best prices in the area, buying or selling. You'll get more from here than you ever would from GameStop or its ilk. Great customer service in my opinion, can't wait to go back in soon. read more

I took two boxes of DVDs in to sell. They were very busy and very rudely told me they would look over them and to come back in an hour or two. When I came back, the woman there was very nasty and told me to get these out of here because the box was infested with roaches. I took them to their competitor. Upon opening the boxes, the DVDs were packed exactly as I had packed them. It appeared they had not been taken out. There were no roaches or any other kind of bugs present. When I complained to the store, they back pedaled and said they found three roach eggs on the box. Even if that were true, there was no excuse for the way I was treated, and a smart person would have just simply thrown the box away. I can also add that I have a Michigan Pesticide applicators license, I know how to identify insect egg cases, and there were none present. It appears they simply did not want to mess with them and decided to be nasty. There are better places to sell your DVDs, I recommend you go any place but here. read more
