They exceeded all expectations, and I am realizing what childcare SHOULD be like compared to the old daycare. Dogwood excels in the following areas that I find important: Communication: The staff is prompt to communicate on all platforms, through the app, email, and phone. Food: they send out the weekly meal plan, and it's always healthy and nutritious food that my son loves. He's a 99th percentile guy, and so he eats a lot and is never hungry when I pick him up (unlike our old daycare). He probably eats better than me most days here! Staff: I can't say enough great things about the management and teachers here. From the moment we walk in, there's a smiling face at the front desk available to help with anything we need. The teachers clearly love what they do, my son loves them so much. After a year of challenging drop off and pickups with tears at the old place, it's refreshing that there hasn't been a bad handoff since the 2nd week. He even tried to go back in after picking him up he likes it so much. Facility: it's a beautiful facility and CLEAN!! Ample parking, and well thought out. Photos: I have received photos every day, to me this is important as the old daycare I was lucky to get 1 photo a month. They even put little text with it sometimes. This makes going to work and leaving my son at school a lot easier. To summarize this very long review, Dogwood is excellent and my only regret is not coming here sooner. We do drive 10 minutes further because we feel the level of care our son receives is worth it.

We appreciate the constant communication when it comes to sickness, staffing and/or procedure changes. -pictures and updates via procare app are very convenient - great teacher to child ratio with floating staff to help each room. -meal plan is fresh ,healthy and unique -curriculum is thought out and planned in advance. One on one activities. -the facility is extremely clean! We would highly recommend !

a day ago NEW First I…read morewould like to say how much the staff blew me away with their kindness. Just from speaking to them over the phone, I could really tell that they were personable and jolly people. You don't always find that nowadays so I wanted to make sure that I let them know that during my tour. I was not able to remember everyone's name but the receptionist with the fade and the receptionist with the brunette hair and glasses were very kind and down to earth whenever I had questions or concerns about anything. Even the Financial Secretary (if I'm not mistaken) has been kind to me throughout our short experience with Early Beginnings. Unfortunately, my son and I were not given a chance to experience the extension of kindness in its totality due to being excused from the daycare after my son only attended a day and a half. On his first full day (8/14/23) I was told that he had some problems with listening and getting into the routine which caused problems within the classroom. I attempted to try and talk to his teacher about it the following day but was told that it was understood that this was his first daycare experience and to let some time go by so he could become acclimated (8/15/23). By 11am that same day, I received a phone call with my son crying nonstop in the background and was asked to pick him immediately. Upon my arrival, the Financial Secretary (I believe that was her position) spoke to me about how the environment was overstimulating for my child and how Early Beginnings does not have the staff to give him the extra attention he needs to acclimate him at this time. This truly upset and hurt me to my core that after just a day and a half of enrollment he was being asked to leave. The swiftness of it makes me feel uneasy and uncertain about any interventions or extra care that was taken during that time to help him, if they were given with patience and understanding at all. My son is not a neurotypical child but you are not able to notice it upfront. It is more obvious during social settings. Regardless of whether or not he is a neurotypical child, he should've been given a fighting chance to show whether or not Early Beginnings really would've been "a good fit" for him or not. A day and a half is not enough time to observe whether or not any child will be able to adapt to routines or learn to interact appropriately within a classroom and with peers. I really hope in the future the company will reflect on how unfair this quick termination is to any child and how it effects the child and parent emotionally to be turned away so quickly without any offerings of adjustments, interventions or even a conference with the Director and/or Assistant Director. Please take into consideration that every child you enroll will not always be pleasant or easy to teach and that it will require dedication, work and genuine love for what you do to assist any child in this World.

Even with the transition of her going to a different class once she got older, the experience of both classrooms were great. The teachers love the students like Their own, but including healthy boundaries. My child loved her teachers so much she would look forward to Going to "school" and would have a story to tell About all she learned and did for the day at pick Up. Early beginnings really made enrolling our daughter at a new school pleasant for both of us. The communication is great and modern from the apps used, Cameras in class and the emails from staff; you are able to have open communication with the teachers and staff. The staff is knowledgeable and it's amazing how they Learn and know all of the students to greet them upon arrival. They have all kinds of fun activities for the kids and sometimes parents too. I loved the theme days! It kept the day exciting and the kids look forward to going to school. If you are not one of the people who are ashamed to discuss the goodness of God, I believe you'll enjoy this place as they have values in forgiveness, prayer, and love. I also love the diversity of the students and staff, that truly mirrors the world we live in and gives your child additional layers. We felt comfortable with our Child going here and though she graduated pre-k, she is still mentioning her previous teacher over the Summer. My child was not enrolled as an infant, however as a 3-5year old, we loved every bit and she learned a lot!Thank you for all that you do! I pray this place continues to grow and keep God first. (I would give some Acknowledgements to certain staff but I won't for their security).

WARNING to Parents - Please Read Before Enrolling Your Child…read moreMy daughter began attending this center shortly after her first birthday. As soon as she started walking and talking, I was prepared for the next chapter--but unfortunately, what followed was a series of deeply troubling experiences. First, my 2-year-old developed unexplained black eyes. No clear incident was ever reported or explained. Not long after, she contracted a scalp ringworm infection, which I later learned was likely due to the unsanitary conditions of the daycare environment. These are serious red flags for any parent. I also had numerous unprofessional and upsetting encounters with a staff member named Victoria. She was consistently disrespectful and misused her authority. On top of that, they withheld incident reports that I am legally entitled to receive, along with financial documentation I requested. Things escalated when I pushed back against the disrespectful treatment. Because I did not respond submissively when Victoria made a demand--nor did I appreciate being dismissed when I asked to speak with someone in charge--she locked me in her office, called the police, and falsely accused me of assaulting a teacher. This was an incredibly traumatizing and unjust experience. After that, I tried to give another location a chance, specifically the one on Prosperity Church Road, hoping for better treatment. I spoke with Summer, who initially seemed professional and helpful. But sadly, our experiences only worsened at the second location. Please take this review seriously before deciding to entrust your child to either of these daycare centers. No parent should have to endure what my children and I went through.

Having peace of mind that your child is safe, learning and LOVED is so important when you are a working mom, and this center does all of that and more. My friends and family always compliment the children on how articulate and smart they are, and I can definitely say hands down it is from the work that is done here! My children come home every day telling me about a new subject they have learned and with learning crafts/projects that go along with the subject for the day and you can tell they spent time with it learning. They tell me about bridges, musical instruments, planets, and so much more. My 4 year old is already reading and can sound out words to spell - he will definitely be prepared and probably ahead of the game to start kindergarten! Thank you so much PCLA for everything you do for the children! You are the best school around!

I had a terrible experience here, unfortunately…read more I have a Bachelors in Education and a Masters in Literacy, with 6 years of teaching experience in New York (state) and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, and plan to return to my profession once my kids are old enough to be out of daycare. My child was placed in the preschool program (NC Pre-K supported by the Gaston County Schools) at this facility, and I had two reasonable, simple requests. First, I wanted copies of the lunch & snack menu and of the daily schedule. The director of the facility informed me they do not give out copies and was told to take a picture with my cell phone. I did so, but the picture did not turn out well. I asked again for a copy and she refused! My next big request was to pack a lunch for my child instead of having the program provide the lunch. The director said several times that my child was not allowed to bring outside food. I was not OK with the food they were serving him and I wanted to provide a healthy lunch I knew he would eat. On the last morning he was there, he brought an apple that he started to eat at home but was not able to finish. My child brought it into the classroom during breakfast time and the teachers, following the center's policy, told him he was not allowed to eat outside food, and proceeded to discard his apple and gave him a french toast stick instead. I understand they have a food program, but there needs to be a little common sense. My child was eating something very healthy yet they could not look past the policy enough to see that. I called Gaston County Preschool services and was told I could opt out of the food service program. I proceeded to ask for an opt out form from the facility director, and was told I could not opt him out of the program. I informed her (the director of Preschool Connections) that Gaston County Preschool services said I could opt him out and that each facility should have opt out forms to complete. She argued with me about what healthy food is considered to be, and repeated that I could not opt my child out of the program. I am going to decide how to feed my child! Their menu consist of fruits and veggies, yes, but also pop tarts, corn dogs, pizza rolls, french toast sticks etc. Bottom line is that if I want to pack my chlid's lunch, I should be able to do so without such resistance! Finally, the program is not transparent. My child was in the program for a total of 5 days and never came home with work he was doing in the class such as crafts or tracing his name, numbers, letters, etc. There was no communication, such as a communication log, from the teacher about what my child was doing in the classroom and I was left to wonder what was actually going on. If you are OK with not knowing what is going on with your child in class, and you do not want to worry about packing a lunch, fine. But if you have any questions about their policies, expect serious pushback. I decided to send my child to a different preschool center where I am allowed to pack his lunch!
