Stay Away Just awful..so done with this practice . Bartzokis…read moreis 'mailing it in until he retires'. He should go now. The office is one big hot mess.If they answer ( which phone often rings a strange busy sound) You are not permitted as a patient to make an appointment with the DR. You need to leave a message with the medical assistant about your issue and hope and pray someone listens to the message. I then get a call back changing a med that was not the issue... My blood pressure must be sky high just trying to get an apt.. I had to beg for it...done done stay away ... susan - February 19, 2025

This is a long overdue review of one my physicians, cardiologist Thomas Bartzokis. Some of those…read morewho follow me on Yelp think it's funny that I submit reviews of medical providers rather than focusing on restaurants. (These days of COVID-19, I have not been to a restaurant since February 2020). And then there are others who thank me for such reviews, and have found the information useful and have even consulted with the physician, when a need arose, based on such a review. So I continue to post them as a service to those who find them of value. I've been a patient of Bartzokis for 15 years and he continues to impress me with his thorough and conservative approach to the practice of cardiology. Harvard trained, as are several of his partners in this practice, he's an astute clinician and importantly, is sensitive to the psychological as well as medical aspects of cardiac disease. As an example, I have A-fib, which is controlled by several medications. When I've had some challenging times when the A-fib was "acting up" and not in good control, Dr B. Has counseled me that my condition is annoying and can be frightening, but that it is not fatal. Such advice has helped me through some tough times. His practice is comprehensive, in addition to routine EKG's, echo cardiograms and stress tests are performed "in house". This includes stress tests which do not require running on a tread mill, but use a drug to mimic a reaction (nuclear stress test). He has been my physician when I've had hospitalizations, has provided medical clearance when needed prior to surgery, especially related to the need to temporarily discontinue critical blood thinners before and after surgery. This is a busy practice with 5 cardiologists, and the office can sometimes be quite hectic. And getting an appointment can sometimes be a challenge based on scheduling demands, I've discovered how to navigate through the practice to meet my needs. Over the years the support staff have varied between those who are a bit abrupt and those who show concern and are efficient in addressing your needs. I would imagine that most individuals seeking the care of a cardiologist would obtain a referral from their primary care physician, and not consult Yelp, quite frankly. But since I feel strongly that Bartzokis is an outstanding cardiologist, for those who might be wondering about him after receiving a referral or find this review by accident, I have no qualms submitting it. Stay safe and take all your medications, Yelp friends. Make sure you know what your blood pressure is and should be, don't ignore chest pain or irregular heart rhythms, and continue to live a full life.

Like any person going to a cardiac practice, the treatment and symptoms vary enormously. I've been…read morea patient since 2016 -- with A-fib issues --Abalations and now a loop. Thoughtful approaches as I am aging into the unknown 80's, I'm quite satisfied with the skill and time he gives me on my regular checkups. I get referred to the "ablation" practice when needed. Through his portal, my questions or concerns I send in are address quickly. At visits, he spends appropriate amount of time with me and does review recent loop, and other medical happenings -- which are becoming way too many. B-} I also am happy with his PA staff.

It is my strong opinion that you should stay away from this doctor. He is arrogant, dismissive,…read moreand uncaring. He questioned my pains and insinuated that I was either faking the pains or was a lazy exerciser. His office administered a stress test. He was not in the room. When I felt as if my heart was going to explode, I stopped the test. He was then found somewhere else in the office. He came in with an attitude that I was disturbing him. I told him my chest and back were in severe pain. He questioned what I said. His note in the medical record said I had no pains. Clearly wrong. After a CT angiogram that showed my left anterior descending artery was more than 70% blocked, and this doctor did not see that as an emergent issue, I found another cardiologist who gave me an immediate appointment and immediately scheduled me for a catheterization that week. He found the artery 90% blocked and placed a stent. If I had waited for Mishkel to get me the next appointment, I might have had a massive heart attack or died. He failed to administer nitroglycerin to me when I failed the stress test, and he sent me home with a script for the CT angiogram and nothing else. I was left to fend for myself, with no help from Mishkel or his office staff. If I could give him a rating of zero or a negative number, I would have.
