I started this review with 3 stars and by the time I explained my experience, I realized another star had to be knocked off. For context, I tan fairly easily due to my mediterranean lineage. Thus, I was hoping that a few sessions would give me the perfect glow prior to going on a beach vacation. I didn't need a dark tan, just a little warmth in my skin after months of gloom. I've been to many other tanning salons before and this always works for me. Not at Seattle Sun Tan. On top of not getting any tan, I also feel like I spent an exorbitant amount of money (well above and beyond what I've paid at other places previously). They require you to essentially put a lump sum of money in an account and that money is used toward each tan - and each bed costs a different amount. So you would think ok I'll go for a strong bed to get my money's worth, right? Nope. For each of my (4 or 5?) sessions, I was required to do the basic bed and just barely increase the time of each session. I never made it past the basic level bed before they told me I'd run out of money in my account. As an aside, the dollar amount you put in does not line up well with the cost of each tan so you inevitably leave a few dollars behind or keep adding more and get into an endless loop. The one positive of my experience was the staff, who were consistently friendly and helpful. Overall, due to the quality and price of the service, I would strong recommend seeking other sunless tanning options. read more

I have frequented Seattle sun tan for years, I thought all locations would be held to the same standard. I THOUGHT WRONG. They are extremely unprofessional and unsanitary. I watched I think her name was Jordyn she said, vaping at the front desk and use the same towel to clean multiple beds. This gave me the ick. After requesting another towel to spray down my bed she rolled her eyes at me, and told me I could if I really wanted to. I'm not sure if I receive this treatment because I'm a person of color, but I felt extremely uncomfortable and won't be returning. I found out they own multiple locations in the east side area, and will now be transferring my membership to TROPICAL TAN. Considering there job is relatively easy, I don't understand why i was treated with so much hostility and disrespect. Pleasw think twice before tanning here. read more

Love this place! I have been to several tanning locations (both Seattle Sun locations and other chains) and this is always my favorite to visit. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They always greet me with a smile and are willing to give me recommendations on products and services when I need it. I also really appreciate how open they are about their deals. One time, I wanted to buy a 5-pack of spray tans and the employee told me to wait until the weekend for their sale- it's the little moves of integrity like this that really impress me. It is a clean facility and I always feel comfortable in the rooms. Great towels, hair nets, and other amenities. If you spray tan, I recommend getting a recommendation for a great primer AND adding the $5 moisture add on. It will make the tan richer and last longer. This is a great tip I got from an employee once and I have been doing it ever since! The one downfall is parking. There are really only two spots dedicated to it and the rest of the spots are taken up by the restaurant. You can always find parking in the back, but it's a bit of a walk. Be strategic about what time you go, they always seems to be busiest from around 6pm-9pm on weekdays from what I have noticed. read more

I just signed up for the red light anti-aging/body therapy treatment That is now being offered at Seattle Suntan and KIRKLAND. I was helped by Miriam, who explained the anti-aging benefits, how it stimulates circulation, improves skin complexion, etc. Miriam is the type of employee every retail business needs at your front counter. With her knowledge and attention to detail, I couldn't get out my credit card fast enough! I can't stand overbearing or pushy salespeople! She didn't try to "sell" me. Cancelled my membership at the end of July, in person. Was told it's cancelled. Only to notice two months later that I've been getting charged. When I called the salon, front desk person was not willing to help. Apparently there was no note in their system that I cancelled. Not my fault or problem how they keep track of their stuff. I haven't been coming in since I thought it's cancelled. She started telling me that I would have to email their customer service, etc. I chose the easy route of calling my bank and letting them know those charges are not authorized. She then told me that I wasn't allowed to come back. Even though I have leftover credits on my account. Awful customer service. I wouldn't want to come back after that anyway. I would get something in writing if you're canceling your membership to avoid this hassle. Not sure if it's a tactic they use to keep charging ppl. read more

PARKING!!!! Yikes! The parking here has become just awful! For the past two weeks I have tried to go and tan Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu and had to turn back home every time because there was no parking at all. Do I really have to have somebody drop me off from now on?? The new sports bar has made it impossible to go tanning now. I am moving to another state in 10 days and need to use up my tanning $$$'s but can't and don't see why I should drive extra miles because there is insufficient parking. Not happy at all. This review is for services from May 2019 to August 2019. I have not visited this salon since that time frame. The salon was always clean, I never had a problem getting the level 5 tanning beds. Customer service was A+ and the receptionist was very good at explaining the packages/options. I ended up getting a membership for the few months I needed to get a tan for the bachelorette party cruise I was attending. I was able to build up a great base tan, I received so many compliments. I highly recommend this salon and would definitely visit again if I needed to. I've attached a photo of the Tan I was able to achieve within said time frame from using their level 5 beds ONLY, I started out with small time increments on level 5 and was able to move up my time increments from there. I've had no complaints, beds were always clean and ready. I opted to use tanning lotions that have NO dyes or bad ingredients, I didn't use a tingle lotion. They can have great deals at times, sign up for their email promotions. read more

I usually visit the Juanita seattle sun tan and it's amazing !! There system was down today which was never there fault . The amazing employees at Juanita called the totem lake (this location) to make sure we'd be accounted for. Me and my friends get spray tans at least 3 times a month! While arriving to the totem lake location. We were greeted rudely by the girl. running the register. I began the payment process for a spray tan. I pay 18 dollars every time I have visited as I am under 18 and they have a student discount. Named 18SUNLESS. This code never expires until you are no longer under the age of 18. The girl began to ring me up and told me it came out to 38 dollars . This price was incorrect. We left and saw the worker staring, rolling eyes, and mocking us through the window. Our lovely friend at juanita called the totem store and explained this Rule. The worker and even the customers inside this store were super rude and treated us poorly just because we were younger. Me and my friends are frequent users of seattle sun tans offerings. This experience was just sad . read more

Bre was so helpful!! I've been to another location + the customer service was great there-- but Bre went above and beyond to make sure I felt taken care of. I ended up going up a level and the machine was too claustrophobic for me-- and after I told Bre, she made me feel at ease + cleaned the room next door so I could use the bigger machine. She was so kind, personable, and talked me through my options-- she made my experience the best!! She told me she usually works at the Bothell location, and I will go out of my way to go to that location just to be blessed by her customer service. 10/10 recommend! read more

BEWARE of their membership deal because in order to cancel that you have to make an appearance in the store AND make it in about 2 weeks before it charges your card again so that "corporate has time to process it". At this point I wasn't really upset with their bushiness, they seemed like a company that would make you do a run-around like that so I came in, signed the cancellation paper AND even paid for an additional month that I wash't going to use. Fast forward 5 months. I notice the membership wasn't cancelled so I called them and after about a week of back and forth with the girls at this location I got corporates phone number. Come to find out "Corporate" is just ONE girl name Jesse. So your big bad corporate needs 2 weeks to cancel my membership, I would still love an explanation as to why it takes someone 2 weeks to cancel a credit card payment? But moving on. Because I didn't have a copy of my cancellation paperwork (from 5 months ago) they weren't going to refund my money. She was even the one that noted that I hand't used any of their salons for about 5-6 months and had a credit. So then why is it so difficult to refund somebody their money for services they clearly didn't use? I get your in the business of making money but you should also CARE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS because this is one that will NEVER be back to Seattle Sun Tan. Sure, if I had a membership knowingly, I would use it but your staff seems incompetent enough to process paperwork and I feel like i'm not the only person you guys have scammed into paying not just 1 additional month but MULTIPLE. I know I am partly to blame because I didn't double check their work and check my account at the end of the month but I have multiple EFT accounts and its very easy to miss a $25 charge. After making some calls, I reached the rep at Seattle Sun Tan, I was nearly instantly hooked by her attitude, knowledge, and the tanning salon's prices. The girl helping me on the other line expressed no irritation by my never-ending questions... I was annoyed with myself even! But she was happy to help. They say to smile when you're on the phone with customers because they can hear it from the other end- and I believe that to be true! Lucky for me, I got that kind of service here. What you might want to know: - Fair pricing (right now, $24.99 a month) - Packaged deals for those who like Level 5 beds, Versa sprays, etc. - Members get discounts on the lotion of the day - Clean, well-lit rooms for lotion-application - Protective eyewear to purchase for continued use (cheap!) - Service that's unparalleled. In preparation for a wedding, I signed up to Seattle Sun Tan via a Groupon deal that was running. What I really liked about the folks at SST was that I was NEVER force-fed the product. I've never been a fan of being given a 30 minute lecture on how good it would be if I spent $500 more a month, or if I spent $200 on a lotion. I'm happy to say that, while they do mention the offers, they do not get NEAR peer pressuring you (which, actually, is a better way to make sales). If you haven't read between the lines, the staff is very friendly and inviting. Personable front desk makes for a very good environment. The beds themselves, in my experience, are kept very clean and tidy. The area doesn't get too over-crowded like some places, but I've never been around Rush Hour. So I can't speak to it. The ONLY reason I am giving this 4 stars rather than 5 is due to the problematic parking. The parking lot is VERY small. It can be frustrating to find a spot anywhere in the small lot, as they share a lot with local businesses and Jack in the Box nearby. To round it all up: PROS: - Personable front desk staff. - First time, ever, I wasn't given the 'sales speech' everytime I walked in for a tanning bed. Seattle Sun remains the only company that actually drives sales the right way - mention the offers, and move on. - Beds are kept clean and the upkeep is noticeably great. I don't know why I couldn't find this business location on Yelp. They might have just opened this location....ANYWAYS! In preparation for my trip to Maui at the end of the month, i felt it necessary to tan myself before hand so I don't look like a complete pale, foreigner to the tropical land of Hawaii. I stopped in here Friday after work. They have five levels of tanning and the beds look really nice and they help protect again UVB and BLAH BLAH BLAH. Sign me up. The ladies there were super friendly, Kelsey and Maddie! After my tour we talked packages and i just signed up for $200 worth of tanning since I don't think I will go much after. I went in the level 5 bed (not the one with the mattress) for 6 minutes and I could definitely see a noticeable pigment difference. EI. Transparent white to just pale white with a hint of red haha. It seems like I am always being asked about lotion and packages. They seem to replace their bulbs frequently - I always feel like I am getting my money's worth. They NEVER have level 5 beds available without a 15-20+ minute wait. I've tried different times of the day with the same result. Wish I didn't buy a package as it's going to take forever to use it up at this rate. Time to invest in the beds people want to use. The beds are nice, multiple locations convenient, plenty of offerings (spray tan, reg tan, light therapy) but customer service is not great. Hard upselling (multiple nagging reminders every time I came in about how I only have 4 tans left, 3 tans left, 2 tans left, buy more now, buy some lotion, buy buy buy). I found myself having to explain over and over that I travel for work, I only want to buy tans when I need them. I tried suspending my membership while I was out of town and got charged anyway, and every person I spoke to gave a different reason why. No refund offered. They made me sign a contract giving up the rest of my year's membership so they'd stop charging me every month FOR NOTHING. Why should I pay for something I am not getting or using or needing? To me, tanning is a way to relax and do something nice for myself. I don't like being pressured. I hate paying when I am not even using the service. If you want customers to buy something, here's an idea. Have seasonal items like scarfs, hats, sunglasses, lip balms, accessories, etc available to browse while people are waiting for tanning bed availability. Quit pushing the same 10 brands of special miracle lotion and more tanning packages. It's very unappealing. read more

This is the worst business there is! Terrible customer service. Had originally signed up for a membership because I was told this "would be cheaper" as I was just wanting to tan a few times before a vacation. I was told to cancel my membership on my last day tanning so I wouldn't get charged each month. I went in and told them I wanted to cancel my membership. They said you don't have a membership. I told them I did but they couldn't find it. Then Lo and be hold I get charged for TWO months after. I called and explained what they had told me and she "found my membership" They told me I couldn't get refunded even though I hadn't been tanning there since. They said they could apply just one month worth of tanning credit not the 2 I was charged for. It's total BS as why in the hell would I EVER want to go back there. I'd advise to take your money elsewhere as they are scammers! TERRIBLE!! read more

The owners own every tanning salon in the nearby areas. They also own Desert Sun. You have no choices unless you want to drive a good distance. The customer service suffers because you have no choices. The monthly fees and the cost of packages are very expensive. The spray tan room is often out of towels or lotion. They text you specials then, in my experience don't honor them. You cannot freeze the day before your membership renews. On a bright note, they keep it fairly clean and most of the people who work there are friendly and upbeat. They seem to keep up with the bed bulbs. read more

They do have the best beds but the Kirkland location is really pissing me off with all of the parking issues. Last night I went at 7pm and once again there was absolutely NO parking. It's not their fault really because of the sports bar that draws in all the people but it's REALLY crappy because this is like the 4th time I went to tan and couldn't because I couldn't get out of my car. I am always so impressed with their customer service (in the salon and the the corporate customer service over the phone) they are so helpful (especially Katrina from the corporate customer service). Pricing structure is a scam. Even if you fill up a card and get a 20% "discount", when there is $ still left on your card that's not enough for the bed, they charge you full price, plus tax, which you double pay. Pricing is outrageous and the sales people are mostly teenagers that don't know anything and don't care to keep a customer. Out of 7 people I've met there, only one person knew what they were doing. The others are glorified janitors who only know how to wipe down a bed for 5 seconds. The only way I would ever go back is with a groupon. Don't be suckered in! read more

I had a really positive experience recently at this location- Taylor was very helpful and personable! She recommended a few products to me, and at first, I declined, but then once my spray tan was complete, I ended up revisiting the product display because she was informative, but definitely not pushy. The only reason I give my experience 4 starts, rather than 5, is because once I got into the room to start my Versa tan, there weren't really any instructions on what to do. They had the blending cream, a hair net, etc but I hadn't been in for over a year, so I was a little rusty. I swear they used to have an instructional video going or something? I guess maybe the figure the tanning system has been out long enough that people know the drill. I figured it out :) read more

After a recommendation from a friend and in preparation for a wedding I decided to try out Seattle Sun Tan. I was dreading the initial sign up process and didn't want to be pushed into getting an extravagant membership or buy expensive lotion...but to my surprise, it was the complete opposite. The girls that work there are fantastic! Kelsey immediately introduced herself and quickly showed me around. She went over all of the membership and non membership options but did so in a way that was anything but pushy and she helped me to decide on a plan that would work best for me. The prices are super reasonable and they have excellent packages for members and non members. Overall, the facilities are extremely clean and the atmosphere is very inviting. This is for the new downtown kirkland salon. I went to rock star tan for over 10 years. It was turning into a dump. I use the Spray bed and it was so old. Seattle sun took over in October and OMG they have cleaned it up! Brand new spray bed that dries you as you spray and has heated dryer. 4 levels of color and it really does last longer than the original Versa. I can finally refer my friends there read more
