Highlights of our 120 day stay here: 1) Therapy - we came on a recommendation around OT/PT/Speech. The team here is very thorough - they also care for the residents that they work with. We came away very impressed with the staff here. OUTSTANDING. They push where they see the patient/resident able to handle more. 2) The Nurses and Nurse assistants were very professional, caring and covered their responsibilities well. We were very impressed. 3) The food - no complaints as the meals were balanced and very tasty. The schedule was maintained even through the February snow events that took place. Special thank you to the dietician (Sophie). 4) Social Activities - Linda has been here 25 years and does an amazing job with events, music, holiday events and various other activities. The leadership team here went out out of their during the snow storm. CNA's and nurses were picked up from home in 4 wheel drive vehicles so that the residents could be tended to. Overall our time here was very beneficial. Our insurance only gives 60 days per year so we have to discharge a little earlier than we'd like. We'd be remiss if we did not thank the leadership and Directors of the various functions - my wife has made very good progress and we were blessed by so many here at the Life Care Center. This facility is a caring place and it can be seen in all the employees.

His oxygen level was around 85%, and she had already called 911. Since we have three kids, she could not go to the hospital and leave the other children alone. I immediately went to Mekela, explained that I had a family emergency, and showed her the text message I received. Her response was, "Go find your own coverage." Even though this was an emergency, I started calling employees. I called about five employees, and some did not answer while others said they were not available. I also asked about four employees who had worked the morning shift, and they said they could not stay. I asked Mekela again for help because she is the scheduler, and I told her I might have to leave because this was an emergency. Her response was that she would call the state and have my license suspended. She also knew I am a nursing student and specifically told me that if my license was suspended, I would never be able to become a nurse. I considered this a threat. What was also very concerning was that she gave the Director of Nursing incorrect information and said my child was vomiting. That was not what I told her. I clearly told her my son was having shortness of breath, his oxygen level was around 85%, and 911 was on the way. I spoke with the Director of Nursing and explained the full situation. They told me to go to HR. When I went to HR, they appeared to be in a staff meeting, so I continued trying to find coverage. Later, Mekela brought me back to the Director of Nursing's office, and they allowed me to leave. I really appreciated the Director of Nursing for helping resolve the situation. There were many red flags working this place and how this situation was handled. I experienced unprofessional behavior, threats, poor communication, and a lack of compassion during a serious family emergency. This is not how employees should be treated ever.

What prompts me to write a review today is an experience with the amazing Audiology Assistant, Kirsten Compton. Saturday morning, the receiver on my right hearing aid stopped working. All the buttons worked, as I could tell from the left side, but no sound came out on the right. Normally, I'd just call them Monday. But this is a Monday when I am leaving for a 3-week international trip. In desperation, I send an email to the clinic. Within a few hours, Kirsten calls me and 20 minutes later, I'm in the office on a Saturday and she replaces a faulty wire. Plus, she gives me backups to take with me on my travels. This above-and-beyond support typifies my experience over many years. With people like Kirsten and Dr. Limb, who listens and is a miracle worker at finding just the right adjustment to make my hearing aids be their most effective, I rely on their whole team. Even on an ordinary day, from the quality of care to the caring, upbeat vibe of the office, I highly recommend them.

We came to Sylvan with a very specific request to assess skill gaps in Math that we had observed at…read morehome. My son's school only does grade-level adaptive assessments that cover a broad set of skills and so we wanted to get an outside assessment that could be more targeted to the problems we had observed. Sylvan's diagnostic was a little expensive - about $150 - but that's OK to get what we are looking for. They did not complete the assessment as we'd asked. They performed a similar style of adaptive assessment as the school district does, so we got no value from that. I already have access to nearly identical diagnostics from the School district. They also did an English language skills assessment which we had no interest in. We only came here for math. Performing this test did not add value, it just wasted our time. Finally, the process took a week. By comparison, Mathnasium turned it around same day at no cost, and did an excellent job of listening to our needs and targeting the testing to what we were looking for. Overall I feel like I've spent a lot of money for something I didn't ask for, that adds no value to me as a customer. I would have far preferred if Sylvan had let me know up front that they don't offer the services I was looking for. They seem like a wonderful resource for general improvements across the board - but that's not what I asked for.

I quickly got connected with Pat who was super sweet and explained to me about Sylvan. The comprehensive test showed that my dtr need helps for reading and writting which also reflected in her school rpt. And my dtr has been attending since July 2022 and her scored has been improve tremendously. She is getting mostly A in her classes. We are very happy with the guidances ans supports that we have been getting from Sylvan esp the progress meeting every 3 months we get is really helpful.
