This is my 3 Years old daughter's first time attending to a preschool. I expected her being fussy on her first day or week of school. Surprisingly, she was great. Me Helena is very attentive, She didn't cry at all. Ms Helena gave us tips about what to do on her first day of school, and it works pretty well. Now my daughter loves going to school. It's like a treat to her now. She learned simple words from school. She is more outgoing now. Overall, great teacher, great environment, great experience at this place. Absolutely recommended! Toward to the end of the school year, I want to update our experience with Ms Helena. I'm really proud of my daughter being so friendly and well behaved. When she meets new friends, she will introduce herself, and ask them: do you want be my friend? One of the cutest thing: She gives me big hug, group hug and kisses. She learned so much from school. She cleans up her toys after she's done with it, along with a clean-up song. She tells me about solar system, tadpoles to frogs, Vietnamese and so on. My son is 5 and fully prepared for Kindergarten! We began preschool with Mrs. Helena in September 2017 and he graduated from Learn-A-Lot in June 2018. Under the guidance of Mrs. Helena, he learned the expected: counting, colors, shapes, sight recognition of letters, respect for school rules, cleaning up, etc. In addition to this, he also learned patience; courteous greetings; basic Vietnamese; and so much more! The love and attention she shines on every student is definitely noticed and appreciated. My son's class happened to be very diverse too! We have a very diverse blended family so this made my son feel at ease. I'm so happy I was referred to Learn-A-Lot! I have two daughters, 8 and 4 and both have attended Learn-a Lot. My eldest who is currently finishing 3rd grade, left preschool knowing how to pronounce words and reading three letter words. She is confident, plays well with others and is respectful, all of this is in part to Learn-a-Lot. My now 4 year is in attendance at Learn-a-Lot Bilingual Preschool and she is flourishing not just with letter recognition or number sequence but with boundaries. It's common knowledge that knowing or speaking another language is good for brain development, so the bilingual aspect is another positive influence of this Preschool. Our daughter has been going here for almost 2 years. Ms Helena provides a structured environment and does an excellent job at preparing young children for elementary school. The kids are friendly and are always doing activities together. Somehow, Ms Helena gets all of the children to line up and maintain a position within the line. This really cool because until this program, I wasn't sure how our daughter was going to learn following directions in a group setting. Best experience at this preschool!!! It was our daughters first year attending a preschool and we saw her confidence and academic skills grow leaps and bounds while she was there. The teacher/owner Ms. Helena is so caring, attentive and engaging with the kids and really gets to know each child and their family. She provides just the right amount of challenging curriculum that really promotes learning in a fun way. We aren't able to go back next school year due to needing full time care for both our kids and Im so sad about it! We will miss Learn-a-Lot and Ms. Helena so much. My daughter absolutely loves going to school and has learned so much so quickly! The class size is small enough that the teacher is able to give a high level of attention to each child. Each morning my daughter ask "Do I have school today". During her first couple weeks I would tell her yes or no, but now I tell her "Today is Tuesday, do you have school on Tuesdays" and she knows the answer. It didn't take long for her to learn the days of the week and understand how they repeat. She is always excited to go to school and see Mr. Helena. In just the first few months she learned the sounds of nearly every letter in the alphabet, can recognize nearly every letter, and can even draw most of her letters. The teacher has a great technique of teaching the alphabet and it has been very successful. In addition, my daughter can now count to 10 in 3 languages. We had worked with her to know English and Spanish before she started school, and now she can include a third language. The teacher is also very active in posting images and updates online - making it easy for Grandma and Grandpa to following along in our daughters development. My son loves going to school and is learning so much! The class size is small, so Mrs Helena can give each of the students individual attention. My son can write his name, recognize letters in the alphabet, days of the week, know how to describe the weather and learning shapes/colors. They get to do many fun projects, utilize fine motor skills, stay active w/ exercises & dances. It's also so awesome to hear kids in class from different ethnicities learning how to speak Vietnamese...and they do it well! Learning another language is so good for their growing brains. But above all, I love how this school/teacher emphasizes on teaching the kids about sharing, manners & having empathy for others...which so often over looked and not focused enough in schools these days. My daughter started at Helena's school since last March. It was the best decision ever, I can see that my daughter learns a lot and start improving her other skills. My daughter can't wait to go to school every morning, it is amazing to me that she has so much fun at school and learns at the same time. I can say that I feel really comfortable to leave my kid there with Helena. The sad part is it's only 2 and half hours Monday through Thursday, and I recently started a new job, so we have to leave the school. This is our 2nd year with Learn-A-Lot Bilingual Preschool and my husband and I couldn't be more happier. I have my two sons in Ms. Helena's class and they are exceeding my expectations. My kids know their development, education, creative and musical abilities continuously grow. I also love the ethnic diversity of all the students and family types. As a family of color, its an added bonus. Ms. Helena continuously goes over and beyond for all of the kids. She is strong communicator and understands each student is different and recognizes them in their individuality. She also takes time to know each of her students personally. Enrolling our son in Ms. Helena's class is the best decision my husband and I made. He started in September of 2017 and we've noticed such a positive change in behaviors, speaking, manners, and imagination. Ms. Helena is such a wonderful teacher to these kids. She has a big heart and you can see how much joy she has in teaching them. She's able to teach the kids in adapting to each kid's level of understanding. Ms. Helena communicates to the parents of what's going on, upcoming events/projects and also shares pictures and videos from class. Along with all that and having a structured day of lessons 4 days a week, she's able to incorporate Vietnamese into her curriculum. This was important for us as my husband's family speaks Vietnamese. Our son has the opportunity to learn the basics and teach mommy as well :) Having the ability to learn a second language at a young age through preschool is so unique and we're so grateful that Ms. Helena has added that to her school. If you're looking for a preschool in the South Seattle area, I would highly recommend looking into Learn-a-Lot Bilingual Preschool in Lakeridge. We met Helena last year during a preschool open house and were immediately impressed in how she interacted with our son. Her curriculum was designed to teach children the basics, while at the same time helping to build confidence and social skills. There's a good mix of children from different backgrounds and walks of life, represented in the class. Our son learned everything from basic Vietnamese phrases, ABC's and 123's and even learned how to spell/write his name.
