Seattle, oh how you surprised me! Every major city I can think of has a landmark I have seen on a…read moreshow or a movie. Ok so Grey Sloan memorial may be in my head and not a real place but second to none is the space needle. No way could I have come to Seattle and not go to the Space Needle. I live in Los Angeles, so high rises and observation decks I am not a stranger to. I don't want to discourage anyone from going but most observation decks are almost a dime a dozen once you have done a handful. But no matter what the standout special that is sharing the courtyard of the space needle is this lovely glass garden. I have no idea why no one from Grey Sloan has made their way over there (Yeah, yeah, I know it's really filmed mostly in Los Angeles) When people talk about the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden should be mentioned right along with it. It was such a beautiful and refreshing place to visit. The only thing I could ask would be for maybe 3 more exhibits. The glass blowing demonstration was so cool, well it was hot, and visually cool. So when you buy the tickets to the Space Needle and it asks you if you want the combination ticket for Chihuly Garden, you should absolutely click that option. The ticket as an addon or solo is a bit pricey in my opinion for the size of the exhibit, but so is everything else in the world now. I took some cool pics, but I am going to keep them to myself. I don't want to ruin it for you. Really go check it out, it's worth the visit for sure.

This museum is very well organized. Staff are highly trained and very professional…read more There are also glass blowing demonstrations, talks and guided tours. Displays are very colorful. The artistic displays and the works themselves are an incredible blend of styles and colors. A lot of these works reminds me of visuals from an active sea floor full of life. You can almost see the still life works as if they are in motion. The fluidity and organization make this a must see event that is definitely worth the cost of admission.

I believe each year the address for the market can change. This past year (2018) the address was at El Corazon. The Mourning Market is composed of dark themed... or Gothic styled merchandise that independent vendors and artists make and sell. This can include a variety of things from dolls, clothes, paintings, candy, cards, jewelry boxes, incense burners, necklaces and so much more! Many of the vendors do accept credit or debit cards but if there were any that did not there was an ATM at El Corazon where you could get cash. There is an entry fee to go to the market and the time we went it was only $2 which was very manageable. We bought several things here that we really enjoy! We got homemade chocolates from a vendor with a brilliant and refreshing mint flavor to it. I also got a bullet necklace where the bullet shell was carved in beautiful and elaborate designs. Steve got a David Bowie magnet which was awesome! The merchandise here is one of a kind and if it isn't then if there are duplicates of an item then it is very exclusive to that vendor or the market. In other words the likelihood of finding these items somewhere else are unlikely. Almost all of the vendors have their own business cards and I imagine you could place some orders for what they sell after the Mourning Market is held. The Mourning Market has about two dates out of the year as to when it is held. As I said location is bound to change year to year but it's definitely worth keeping track of. Their website is very straightforward and if you have the interest in becoming a vendor at the market there is even a link for that too at the website. The Mourning Market is a great way to support your local artists in the area!

There's a VR car ride, an alien bull ride (must-do), and a diverse range of contemporary art across different mediums. I think it's worthwhile for everyone because it is interactive, engaging, and easy to enjoy even if you're not "into" art There's also the Mirror Mirror exhibit, which is basically an interactive photo competition inside the gallery. You take your photo in front of the large mirror installation and submit it for a chance to be featured in their rotating display. Visitors vote on their favorites, and the selected images are showcased in the space. My photo was actually featured for a few weeks, which was such a cool surprise and made the whole experience feel personal -- I feel like I'm a part of the Seattle community now! The gallery itself has a warehouse feel -- it reminded me of the Brooklyn art shows I've been to, and it's cool to see that kind of industrial, contemporary art space outside of nyc. Tickets were around $25 per person, with discounts for students, children, and seniors. They're open about half the week. This was one of my highlights of things to do downtown.

Although it's expanding at the moment, so far the arts and sculptures on display are adequate. I'm hoping future art installations will be more immersive for a more enjoyable experience. The entrance fee is well...not sure if it's the right price.

Loved how MOPOP described the cultural movement built upon five foundational elements: MC'ing, DJ'ing, Breakdancing, Graffiti and Self: Identity, Community, Political Awareness and the use of Hip Hop to show one's expression. Viewing this took me back in time and brought back so many memories. Also liked the other parts of the museum: the two story guitar art piece, "If VI was IX", interactive Sound Labs for music as well as the indie video games. But what stood out was the Infinite Worlds of Science Fiction: Star Wars to Star Trek to Aliens and Back to the Future. Definitely a must see!

Wild to be here now and the Cobain exhibit is gone after all these years, and so has Frank (RIP); architectural genius. The building still hits. The architecture alone is worth it. Sci-fi, horror, and fantasy exhibits carry the experience. At this point, I'd come back for the rotating shows, Rebels & Icons on the 15th, and the upstairs Lounge Bar. Low key hidden, solid pop art food/drinks, complimentary chips with their own seasoning, and great service. The museum should separate this bar on Yelp, I want to review this separately.(hint) That combo makes the membership make sense.
