I would have reviewed 0 stars if i could. Very specifically, Dr. Beverly Ting. Unless you want your hand in jeopardy, do not even consider seeing someone as incompetent. Once she realized my case was non surgical, she gave 0 attention and seemed in a terrible hurry to leave. Now details: I had a wrist injury that happened in Mid November. I came to see her wearing a splint, which she suggested I take off and wear a skimpy TFCC strap without ordering a CT, MRI, nothing. By end December, the pain and swelling was so bad, I couldn't even use my left hand to pick up a light sweater or eat using a fork and needed a full cast. Thanks to competent medical care, I am healing but terribly slowly but much slower than normal since I didn't get any decent, useful medical advice till December end. read more

Dr. Joneschild a waste of time plus super rude and dismissive. Dr. Miyano? and did not address my finger problem. Difficult staff at the front desk. You have to get approval to see a different doctor at the clinic if you don't want one of the ones you have seen. Very awkward. read more

Very professional, friendly and knowledgeable staff and physicians. If you want expert diagnosis and hand surgery, you found it with Seattle Hand Surgery Group! I have been going here for over 10 years, and have been treated with nothing but respect, kindness and efficiency. read more

I went in with pain and hoping they could help me. I was prepared to hear that they will get me in a few months, but to my surprise they got me in the next day. Dr. Wagner. helped me and took care of my problem. He knew what I was talking about in very few words. I really recommend him! He is the best!!!! read more

Went into my Bank of America checking account without my permission and made two withdrawls in March 2019. No appointment scheduled. Unethical, illegal, unprofessional and front counter rep advised me in Dec 2018 that credit card VISA information was not kept on file. Dr. Ting unresponsive, uncaring and couldnt wait to leave room once surgery was not an option. Insisted that I obtain imaging thru corporate radiology local company opting out of my insurance plan which would have resulted inn hundreds of dollars of extra expense out of my pocket. Implied her radiology souce was far better than my insurance covered imaging. Very insistent. Bizarre conversation spanning multiple appointments, downplaying value of other Seattle radiologists, without examples. Asked to see a different surgeon and advised no surgeon would see me. Declined service forcing me to find another hand surgery group delaying care. Finally, Dr. Ting never recommended hand therapy even though my muscles were wasting away. Pathetic excuse for a MD, Surgeon and a human being. read more

I was diagnosed of tendenitis of the wrist and I waited awhile before I found this practice. I consulted with Dr. Miyano and it was quick, professional and pleasant. I called and was given an appointment for the next morning (didn't encounter any dragons at the reception as some of the other reviews suggest). After filling up my forms I only had to wait for a short time before I saw the doc who explained what the problem was, the course of treatment and answered all of my questions patiently. It's been a month and the healing looks promising! read more

When I broke my wrist on January 8th - Dr Stephen Fuhs took terrific care of me. Dr Fuhs' assistant Mary and Sara at the front desk, along with Shenita, have all been amazingly helpful with my Health Insurance plan and straightening out difficulties with the Insurance Company. I would highly recommend the Seattle Hand Surgery Group and their Physical Therapists. read more

Dr Joneschild is excellent, professional, intelligent and courteous, if a bit efficient. In contrast to earlier reviews found all interactions with staff extremely pleasant- notably so actually. There was a wait but I don't know a medical office without one. One surgery several years ago was effective, intervening cortisone similarly so and have my second surgery with them scheduled soon without reservation. read more

I really have a bad experience with this place. 1, First, the front desk receptionist is very inpolite and unrespectful. She always answer in a rush and tried to push away any requests for help. Just like saying: getting out of my business ! 2. Second, Dr Laino also seems not a caring doctor and also work in a rush. Bad experience, I would never go there. read more

As others have written, there does seem to be a long wait between your appointment time and when you actually get to see the doctor. But this place came highly recommended by my other doctor and my time with Dr. Fuhs was really good time spent. I was prepared and so was he. We got to the heart of the matter, found a treatment, and even had some good story time during my injection. read more

Dr Ting is simply amazing but the scheduler is terrible. No customer service skills and when I called 2 weeks before my appointment to let them know something came up for work she was downright rude. To make matters worse she didn't even cancel my appointment. It is sad since Dr Ting has a wonderful manner, was informative and knew exactly what my issue was after looking at it and talking with me for 5 minutes. read more

After reading many posts about SHSG, I have to agree that their customer service skills are horrible. Up front staff are rude, dismissive and not on point. The doctor that I saw, Dr. W. was so disappointing. He did not even seem to understand the scope of what was going on with my health concern. I had to keep asking him questions--which I expect the doctor to be asking questions. No plan of action, I don't even know why he is even a doctor. To be honest, I have had better conversations with a Tic-Tac. He just didn't get it. Avoid this business. You have choices. read more

Don't understand the bad reviews....I'm less than 24 hours out from getting carpal tunnel surgery on BOTH hands and I can already feel the difference. No more numbness or fingers falling asleep. I'm working from home, typing like nobody's business. Everybody was very nice. I felt like one minute I was chatting it up, vaguely recall a 30 second period during the surgery itself (because you're not all the way out), and the next minute they are like "you're done". Yes, it's painful and I can't lift anything of significance, but I could be at work right now; just decided to stay home. read more

I would highly recommend Dr. Joneschild. I was very pleased with Dr. Joneschild's thorough assessment, excellent communication skills, and cheerful demeanor. My primary concern was to understand what my options were for a full recovery (regarding an unplanned incident that left me with two broken bones in my wrist and a reduction in the ER, the hospital staff recommended her for my next steps)-- and she fully communicated my options for surgical intervention and also nonsurgical options. Her staff was well organized and the Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists were wonderful in helping me with the rehabilitation process. Scheduling appointments was simple, parking was available, and followup was detail-oriented. Overall high marks and thanks again to Dr. Joneschild and her staff. read more

I was referred to this clinic not only from an emergency department doc but also from a co-worker I trust. When I was told my broken hand needed surgery, I was SO nervous it is undescribable. The staff here made me so comfortable, answered all of my questions and wouldn't let me agree to surgery until I fully understood the process and felt a ease. Dr John Miyano performed my surgery and kept my family updated while I was in recovery. If ever appropriate I intend on referring family and friends to this facility. read more

Rushed, everything rushed. As many patients as they can get through. Quick to surgery. Then half explanation about what they actually did to me as I was still coming down from surgery drugs, and then was on to the next patient as I was walking out. (oh you cut that tendon yuou told me you wouldn't want to? well, what changed?) Told me six week recovery time and here I am with extremely limited mobility 8 weeks on. I wish I would have read other reviews here. Biggest regret coming here. read more

I would give 4 stars to Dr. Joneschild - she's wonderful. Just saw her for a consultation on a wrist injury. She is very knowledgeable and informative. It's the staff here. To them I give a 1 (my 3 stars are an average of these). The staff from reception to nurses are lame/weak. They aren't very nice from the time they answer the phone (not rude just terse and not very helpful) to the time they check you in. Minor and James had some of my records and since I was referred by them and they are only a block away, I asked if could get my x-rays and records transferred prior to my appointment. The very terse response "that is YOUR responsibility - we don't have anything to do with that." Oh. Thanks. Other offices I've been to are happy to make the call. Also these people are from a different decade, like the 1980s. You fill out the same form with your name address phone number, etc. etc. no less than 4 times. Hello! What happened to computers!? Seattle Radiology was great and hand-delivered my MRI at my request (too much trouble for the Hand Surgery staff I guess) but when I got to Seattle Hand Surgery the records could not be found. When I pressed, Dr. Joneschild herself went looking and finally found them. The staff, including her own nurse, could not be bothered to even look. Seattle Hand Surgery, you need a staff meeting that talks about customer service. I might still go back due to Dr. J however your staff has some sort of chip on their shoulders that is reflected in multiple other reviews here. This needs to be addressed. I'd prefer to find a place that has a great staff and good doctors. They do exist - we have a choice. read more

I have to say, this place was a waste of my time. I was in a bad car accident about a year ago and fractured several bones including my hand. My primary care doctor took additional X-rays after the ER and confirmed my hand was fractured. For months the pain wasn't going away, so I decided to contact a specialist to look into the pain further. I met with unnamed doctor here, and she didn't listen or have any sympathy for my pain. It was almost as if she didn't believe I had pain. As most doctors have that "God-like" complex, this goes beyond that. Anyhow, she couldn't pinpoint where to do an MRI, so she sent me to a hand therapist for like 3 or 4 months. After that I came back for a follow up, and she still didn't know what to do. I insisted we do the MRI to make sure there was nothing else going on, again she seemed snobby, insensitive and arrogant. Another month went by. I returned for the MRI results and it was inconclusive, then she said there was nothing else to do. Wasted 9 months of my time. This place is a cash register just processing patients in and out and don't seem to care about the patients. read more

Terrible experience. The physician seemed knowledgeable, efficient and precise which is perfect, so add 5 stars. The staff is terrible: substitute 10 stars. If there was a way to give zero stars or any negative number of stars it would have been more correct description. The atmosphere in the place is like in a snake pit, where snakes are being tortured daily and feel that every patient coming in has a hot poker to use around them, so they hate you as soon as you pick up a phone and call them. They also do their best to express it while doing the minimal job possible and as slowly and as rudely as possible. When patient steps out of elevator everyone scatters away and if staff doesn't hate the visitor, then tries to care about something else, anything else but the patient. And forget about veracity in that place. read more

As the previous review stated the wait times are insane. Everytime I have a appointment I am waiting for over a hour. By the time the doctor sees you they are rushed and you can tell they have a answer waiting for you before you can even tell them what is going on. My last appointment cost me $12 in parking and a appointment to see a physical theripst (which I already see one at a other location) to show me how to properly sit and type at work to relive hand pain. Hum. I don't sit at work. I am on my feet my whole shift. read more

I had my second opinion somewhere else and it was so different from my experience here. He spent time with me, knew right away what was wrong with me and fully explained everything. He validated my concerns and my pain! I'm not faking it like I felt dr Miyano believed. What a relief to have a dr who believes me, can help me and cares about his patients. read more

Dr.Joneschild at Seattle Hand saved my finger. I severed a tendon and several nerves in my index finger in August. Dr.Joneschild reattached the tendon and nerves and I now have 100% recovery of feeling and precision motion. I had four meetings with Dr. Joneschild, surgery at the Seattle Hand Surgery Center across the street, and three months of physical therapy with Kerri Arenholz. Through this healing process the medical and administrative staff was professional, fast, and capable. I had wait times of 5-10 minutes to see Dr. Joneschild and 0-5 minutes for PT (usually I just walked right in and sat down). The entire staff answered all of my questions at every step in the process, was positive and enjoyable to work with, and was efficient with my time. The physical therapy staff worked wonders with my hand and I attribute their knowledge, patience, and support with the full extent of my recovery. I would highly recommend the Seattle Hand Surgery group to friends and family. read more

Surgery is never a "fun" thing and there is always the specter of apprehension associated with having an operation ahead of you. This was the case as I entered the clinic yesterday for my hand surgery. Dr. Wagner, my physician for this session greeted me and introduced the anesthesiologist, and attending nurse. Both were very cordial and made me feel comfortable while preparing me for regional anesthetic to my left arm. My finger on this hand was enlarged and may be gout. Getting to the point: anesthesiologist Evelyn did a remarkably painless IV, and all went well. During the operation, devoid of sensation, we enjoyed a conversation mostly about my military service, and there was no feeling, no discomfort, only confidence that all was going well. After about thirty minutes I was allowed time to recover, and soon on my way home, feeling gratitude for such compassionate care and consideration. This is one clinic that I can only very highly recommend for expert treatment with a true "human touch'. It was equal to the presence of family members with Dr. Wagner and his staff. More work is needed and I am actually looking forward to the next appointment, fearlessly. Thank you Seattle Hand Surgery Group for compassionate treatment. read more

After 3 unhelpful visits to Orthopedic Specialists of Seattle (with Wayne Weil) I went and saw Elizabeth Joneschild of Seattle Hand surgery. I made the mistake of being honest with her about my experience Orthopedic Specialists of Seattle, she then was defensive and stopped listening to me for the rest of my appointment. Extremely frustrating to say the least. I believe it is time to try acupuncture. read more

After waiting 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment time and never getting past the waiting room, I chose to leave. It is unacceptable to expect that patients have nothing better to do with their time than wait around an office to be seen. I too am a professional and my time is valuable. Had I been 40 minutes late for my appointment it would have been cancelled. The offie staff gave a cursory apology but obviosly this is the norm. Overscheduling to increase revenue is unfair to patients who show up on time. Would discourage anyone from using this medical practice. read more

The finest physicians and therapy staff available anywhere. Thorough, thoughtful and friendly. I have been a patient at Seattle Hand Surgery Group's Dr. John Miyano since 1997. Dr. Miyano has performed three surgeries on my hands and the results have restored me to full function. I have every confidence in Dr. Miyano's surgical talent and appreciate his professional ability. I have always had a pleasant exchange with the office staff during check in. No complaints with wait times because they are usually prompt. Dr. Miyano's Medical Assistant, Christina, is professional, pleasant & courteous. read more

I severed a tendon in my pinky. Dr. Laino and the amazing PT dept, Kari (spelling?) in particular were very knowledgeable, patient and encouraging in my long recovery. Wait times have been less than 5 minutes, and the admin staff and nurses are very friendly and helpful. I did not give it 5 stars because this clinic is very expensive, although I don't know what other top specialty practices charge. read more

I had a great experience with this office today. I needed a last minute appointment during the holiday week and they fit me in. The office staff and Dr. Joneschild were all very pleasant, efficient and helpful. I recommend SHSG and Dr. Elizabeth Joneschild. read more

My adventures with Dr. Beverlie Ting and the Seattle Hand Surgery Group began when I fell and broke both wrists and needed surgery to repair the damage. I was lucky to have Dr. Ting be the doctor because I am a 49-year-old man who has never been put to sleep before and was freaking out, When Dr. Ting was explaining what needed to be done she was clear and confident in the procedures needed making me feel calm and accepting of what's going to happen next and I will survive. The nurses were fast at what they do because before I knew it Dr. Ting was asking me how I was feeling because the surgery had been done and both wrists were connected correctly with the use of plates to hold the pieces of my wrists back in the proper place. The Next step was Physical Therapy. The Physical Therapist's that are working to help me regain the proper function of my hands could not be more professional, and fun. Dr. Ting keeps checking in with me to see how it's going which is nice to know that she wants me to succeed in my recovery. I have the use of both my wrists and hands still because of the talents of Dr. Beverlie Ting, the Physical Therapists and all the nurses and talents of Seattle Hand Surgery Group read more

Dr. Wagner previously did wrist surgery and did a fine job, so when I needed Carpal Tunnel Relief surgery, rather than going to my local Orthopaedic Surgeon, I went to Seattle to have Dr. Wagner to do the surgery. Post surgery, as he suggested, I had various degrees of pain, numbness, etc. but now after 6 months, three of my fingers are pretty much numb. I've been waiting for the numbness to go away, but it hasn't. I have since moved to Colorado. I called Dr. Wagner last week and told his medical assistant my symptoms and asked her to have Dr. Wagner call me. A week later, I received a call from his medical assistant telling me I should "go see a doctor". Hello! All I wanted was a brief conversation with the doctor that cut my wrist open. Was this numbness normal or bad? Should I see a surgeon or try PT first? I don't think that was too much to ask. read more

Dr. Elizabeth Joneschild has performed surgery on both of my hands for Dupuytren's contracture. My right hand had developed a considerable deformity and it was corrected!! in 2009. My left hand progressed sufficiently to warrant correction in 2013. The outcome in both instances has been exceptional. I have found Dr. Joneschild to be extremely personable, conscientious, caring, and competent. The P.T. Dept. has spent extra time to educate me on home therapy. I have not experienced long wait times to be seen and Dr. Joneschild herself seems to be very prompt. read more

I can't express how pleased I am with the outcome of my operation. As a climber and musician I was very concerned about operating on my hand and regaining full strength in my fingers. I took my time researching treatments and getting multiple opinions from different surgeons around town. I immediately trusted Dr. Wagner and believed that his course of treatment was the best option. I was operated on the next day. Within three months I was back climbing and playing guitar. I am so grateful for Dr. Wagner's work. read more

I usually do not write reviews but I had such a great experience with my recent treatment at Seattle Hand Surgery Group that I felt compelled to share my experience. I was referred to Dr. Miyano who is an excellent doctor and communicator. He was able to isolate my hand issue and provide some treatments. We tried less invasive treatments at first but I eventually felt the best solution to solving my problem was to have surgery. When I first showed up for the surgery, I was very apprehensive. Unlike some of the older reviews I read, I was treated with respect and compassion by all the staff I worked with. I got to my appointment early but was pleasantly surprised that they took me back to prep for the surgery within 5 minutes of arriving. Christina, Dr. Miyano's assistant, was very helpful and really got me ready. The anesthesiologist and nurse were also very helpful and great communicators. Things happened so quickly, I was done with the surgery before I even realized it (about an hour ahead of schedule). Right after the surgery I had use of my hand again. I was shocked at the quick results. I met several staff who offered assistance throughout the process. I went back a week later to have the bandages and stitches removed. Everything healed really well and the incision was hard to even see. Throughout the process I felt no pain and now have the use of my hand back. I am thrilled with the results and would highly recommend this place and, in particular, Dr. Miyano. read more

As the previous poster said, my review has nothing to do with the care I received but with the RUDEST woman in customer service I have ever encountered. I walked in and the first woman at the kiosk on the far right took my I.D and insurance info as I filled out the forms. Then called me up and said "it can't be verified so you can't be here" I was like wtf? So I asked if i could call them or log in to their site as I had just verified it previous to coming here and spent a half hour on the bus to leave work to get here. She sighed and rolled her eyes. I called and got the insurance folks on the phone who requested to talk to the front desk person. I let her know that they wanted to speak with her and she scoffed at me and shook her head and continued to do what she was doing. So I asked her "You're not going to help me? Isn't that your job?" More scoffing and looking away in disgust and totally ignoring me! Finally a very nice woman a couple of kiosks down from her (I think her name was Shenita) said "I can help you" and her and another nice woman with reddish hair assisted me to get the insurance all settled. After this, I waited another 30 minutes to see the doctor. My appointment was at 9:50 and it was 11:15 when I finally saw the doctor. Dr Laino was very nice, professional, and treated me with care and concern, he was great. But man, they should really find someone who treats people in pain with a little more courtesy. This is the first Yelp review I have ever written, but I was so compelled to do so after the way I was treated. If you go there, avoid the woman on the far right! read more

Seattle Hand was a breath of fresh air in a time of need for me. I had an accident on the table saw and I severed the sensory portion of my ulnar nerve. After getting emergency care to stitch my hand up I began to look for an experienced surgeon who could reconnect my ulnar nerve. When I got to Seattle hand, after going to two other surgeons, I knew I was in the right place. My wait time was about 10 minutes, which I would expect in a busy office. Then I met Dr. Miyano and he gave me confidence that my hand would heal over time and that he was very experienced in this type of repair. He gave me a honest and realistic outlook for my recovery time and expectations. I found it very easy to navigate the office and get from the reception area to the exam room and to and from the x-ray room. When it came time for my surgery the nursing staff explained my procedure, coordinated with my girlfriend on when to pick me up and kept me calm while the room was being prepared. The OT department fitted me with a splint and taught me exercises specific to my type of injury that helped speed up my return to work. Overall I was very impressed with the personal attention I received and would recommend Seattle Hand Surgery to my family and friends or anyone in need of a hand specialist. read more
