I have my first part of my finger repair next week. This is the first surgeon who knew what was going on without me having to say much of anything. After seeing about 12 other doctors who in the end had no idea Dr Wagner was a breath of fresh air. The office staff is not the best at getting back to you, especially if you use their app...but they at least call with 2 options instead of just coming in with a post-it giving you a date and time, I'm sure this will possibly be updated post-op in a couple weeks. If it's not updated then everything went amazingly and they are highly recommended in my book. If that changes I'll let you know :) read more

I have no idea why there is no one answering my phone call regarding my mom's appointment scheduling. As a business, it is also very strange that they don't allow anyone to leave a voice message. I can see that there are many spam phishing phone calls these days - we are all dealing with that. but not even allowing people to leave messages. I broke my wrist in a fall two years ago. I chose Dr. Ting to do my surgery and have nothing but praise for her. She has a fantastic bedside manner, she's fairly young and extremely smart. I am so happy with the ongoing care she gives me. I receive Cortizone shots every 90 days for an arthritic left hand. I will more than likely have surgery in the future to correct this. She continually explains what it will entail each time I see her, without being pushy to have the surgery. I was In yesterday February 19, 2021 for another shot and the pain is gone. She even gave me the option to view her administering the shot through an X-ray type machine which really helped to understand where the pain originates. Great Surgery Center and Dr Wagner's treatment and surgery repaired my thumb that had inhibited my use of my right hand for months.

I had a truly awful experience with Dr Joneschild. She would not answer any of my questions, gave me no information whatsoever, and would not sign my note for the work I was missing (due to being in debilitating pain) - she didn't seem to think anything was actually wrong, but that was because she was not knowledgeable enough to figure out my issue. She had no patient communication skills at all, and got annoyed with me when I kept asking for (any) information about what could be causing the pain. Thankfully I later found another hand specialist to help me with what turned out to be an very serous issue, but my experience with Dr Joneschild was honestly so demoralizing that I really wished I had known to avoid her in the first place. read more

Great practice! I saw Dr. Miyano in 2017 for what turned out to be a tumor in the nerve in my hand. He ordered an mri to get an image and performed a very precise surgery to remove it but leave as much good nerve tissue intact as possible. I just had a follow up and it hasn't returned. He and his staff get my my highest recommendation. read more

I'm a little surprised seeing some of these reviews. I snapped the ligament in my thumb at work and Dr. Ting preformed surgery on me. I also did my physical therapy afterwards here. I received unparalleled care. Dr Ting was rad. She explained every step of the process, her and her staff were always super responsive (calls back on issue ranging from issues with L & I questions concerns about healing were pretty much always within that day). Her assistant, Kai, was also incredibly helpful. Everyone was super nice in the office too and scheduling was always easy. The procedure went great. I was able to return to work a full month early. The physical therapists were incredible too. I did PT with a few different therapists and they were all equally supportive, enthusiastic, and great at their jobs. This place is incredible. Absolutely the best experience I've ever had with a surgeon. They made an awful situation a little bit better because the level of care was so great. read more

I had a very positive experience with this practice and with Dr. Elizabeth Joneschild. I needed to have a cyst removed from my thumb joint. The procedure was smooth, with all staff interactions positive. While it is a fairly routine surgery it does require IV sedation and a nerve block so I dealt with an MA, nurse, anesthesiologist and Dr. Joneschild. All were prompt, courteous, professional and gave clear explanations of each step. Healing went well and my thumb is back in action. read more

I would like to first say Dr Waggoner was VERY nice. However, I am still displeased with his surgery on my hand and the results. I had my surgery on August 21st, 2023 and at the end of the surgery Dr Wagner told me he only put two stitches in the incision. I was surprised because I had this same surgery done in Kirkland several years ago and the doctor put several in that one. As a result of only two stitches, I believe, the incision was open and not closed for several weeks. When I saw Dr Wagner on my follow up visit on August 31st, I'd spent the most painful 11 days I've experienced to date (except childbirth). I called in for pain pills and the doctor prescribed six pills and that was after I'd sent him pictures of the enflamed, separated and dead skin around the incision! Again he was very nice, but I asked him why it separated and he said the stitches tore away. Perhaps two wasn't enough???? During my follow up visit, I asked him to cut away the dead skin from the incision so it would heal faster and not have to wait for the dead skin to fall away to begin healing. Again, Dr Waggoner was very nice but I did mention that my hand still hurt like hell. And I asked him about antibiotics because, as my chart showed, I have been a Type 1 diabetic for 55 years and I was concerned about the amount of "enflamed skin and swelling" around the open incision. Dr Waggoner decided he would call in Keflex and I confirmed my chosen pharmacy. To date, the prescription has not been called in!!! I like Dr Waggoner as a person but I SERIOUSLY question his surgery method and follow up treatment. Upon leaving, Dr Waggoner assured me my hand would heal within two weeks. I sure hope so because it is still open to the muscle and very painful. read more

I was referred here after persistent numbness in my hand. Dr. Ting took a look at all my test results from previous practitioners and after a couple quick checks in the office she determined surgery to check the nerve in the elbow would be best. After scheduling a couple days off work, I was in the OR first thing in the morning. It was an incredibly smooth process and the bedside manner of all the medical and support staff was wonderful. The actual surgery was uneventful and recovery was easy, I didn't need any pain medication and I probably could have gone into work the next day. There was a very obvious problem with the nerve as it went through my elbow that Dr. Ting was able to correct. The nerve is healing and my numbness and fine motor control continue to improve. I'm incredibly thankful and will have no hesitation if I need to go back in for anything else. read more

After waiting for over a month for my hand surgery consultation they finally tell me at 2 o'clock in the afternoon before I'm supposed to show up the following morning appointment that I need a referral from my primary physician. Not only that, they told me that I'm outside of the mile radius to have coverage from my insurance company after I've given them all my information on my initial scheduling over a month prior. If you want a business like this operating on your hands, go right ahead but expect your middle finger to end up in your buttocks. This business is completely unorganized. I got an appointment in the same week I called and didn't have to wait too long in their office. Except for the dragon lady at the reception, everybody was really friendly and professional. I never had such a nice person taking my X-Rays before! I love that they have therapists in their office and you can get therapy and a fitted cast without making extra appointments and more trips. read more

Fantastic experience every step of the way, beginning with availability to see me Monday morning after a weekend right wrist fracture. (They keep appointments open for exactly this purpose - very smart and patient-focused.) Can't say enough about how terrific Dr. Joneschild has been all through this. She answered all of my questions clearly and completely, enabling me to make the surgery/no-surgery decision confidently. I opted for surgery, and for me that was exactly the right choice. Day-of-surgery pain management was exceptional, and I was able to control pain in the days afterward without opioids, thanks to the anesthesiologists choices during my procedure. PTs were also terrific - gave me clear direction about what to do on my own at home, and worked with me to create a plan that was manageable for me. Happy to say that I recovered more quickly than I expected. I have 100% use of my wrist again, a nearly invisible scar, and tons of gratitude for Dr. Joneschild and her whole team. read more

Was not pleased with my treatment here. Not only was I kept waiting for a long time both in the waiting room and the examination room, but my doctor seemed rushed and distracted, as if she was sprinting from room to room tending to 30 patients at a time. Her examination of my wrist was so fast that I could barely figure out which movements hurt and which didn't, and she seemed annoyed that I had questions for her. I ended up being misdiagnosed, which I found out later via my physical therapist, who took much more time and care examining my wrist. However, I will say that the x-ray technician was very nice! read more

Fantastic service and care from Dr Wagner and staff at Seattle Hand Surgery Group. He provided thorough explanations of options for treatment of arthritic joint in little finger. When I decided it was time to have surgery, procedure went well with all aspects explained in advance and during operation. I opted to be conscious with regional anesthesia and drugs to relax. No pain and easy recovery. Totally pain free after two days having an a painful joint for two years and delighted with outcome just two weeks later. Therapists are great,too. Yes, sometimes, I've had to wait for 20 minutes but worth it. I'm in my 70's and I like the fact that I've never been talked down to or treated differently because of my age. I have no idea why anyone would give this medical practice less than four stars. read more

I have been going to Seattle Hand Surgery Group for a number of years, for hand surgery and other issues. I also have taken my mom there. My experiences with now-retired docs were great with better than expected results. I now see Dr. Beverlie Ting, and she has been great. She has explained what is going on with my hand and what the options are, short term, long term, and pros/cons of each. There was definitely no push to have surgery or a feeling that because I wasn't choosing a surgical option that I was being rushed out. Most recently I was there for removal of a cyst, which I wasn't sure what it was when I went in. Situation explained, and then she was able to take care of it right then, which was a great time-saver for me. I have also taken my mom to see Dr Wagner, she broke her arm and had to have surgery (a plate and some pins). My mom also has early to mid-stage dementia. Dr. Wagner and the rehab staff were very patient, helpful, and kind about the situation. They treated her with dignity and handled her repetition of questions beautifully. Her arm healed really well. Of course I was there to help with information and take notes, but everyone on the staff was competent, patient, and kind. read more

Yes at the time of the surgery I was pleased...until the stitches that were removed NOT by the doc, but an 'assistant' began to hurt greatly. Knowing something was not right, I called for this to be rechecked & it was extremely poor patient service. I (probably was unpleasant) insisting a doctor verify the stitches were ok, he explained what the scab was doing, fixed it & all was fine. There was never any suggestion or question as to any therapy necessary. In time it healed. Now 2 years later I need the same finger other hand corrected. Dr. John Miyano is highly recommended by more than one therapist but there's little chance I'll return here. Apparently no one from SHSGrp. looks at reviews. Pity, cause 3 of these doc's come highly recommended. What's wrong with management here? read more

I would like to preface by saying that this review has nothing to do with the care received or the Doctors themselves, but with the office as a whole. I was scheduled for an early appointment, one of the first of the day. I was told to check in 10 minutes prior to my appointment time, which I did, and was then made to wait 40 minutes before I was taken to an exam room. I spent another 10 minutes waiting for the Doctor who performed his exam then sent me to x-ray. They handed me my x-rays and told me to go back to the room and wait (again) for the doctor. After some hunting, I found my room. I felt this was very unprofessional to not at least point me in the right direction. In total, I spent less than 10 minutes with medical professionals and spent over an hour waiting. This should be unacceptable in any field. It is a shame that any business would be run so poorly, it is a disservice to the doctors and patients to misuse time in such a flagrant manner. It is my hope that this review encourages other to expect better from their medical providers. read more

They charged me $172 to spend an hour telling me they were going to charge me $172. So I guess I paid them to tell me that I was going to pay them. To their credit, the snotty, egotistical, upstart surgeon did actually spend 5 minutes discussing my hand. He made it pretty obvious I was wasting his time. Sorry about that. I'll try not to break my hand again. Watch out for the 'walking fee'. If the surgeon walks you from his office to the therapy room, they'll charge you. I think it's like $40. Wow, what horrible customer service to make an appointment! I called and a mumbling person answered then sent me immediately to "hold." I waited on hold 30 minutes and called back, explaining I had been on hold 30 minutes. Without explanation I was put on hold again. After hold for 10 minutes, someone answered and hung up on me without saying a word! I called back and explained this; again no apologies just put on hold again. I hung up and called the Polyclinic instead and got in right away. Thank goodness there's at least one other hand specialist in Seattle. read more

Visited Dr. Ting after receiving a pretty bad dog bite over the weekend. She was very knowledgeable and demonstrated excellent bedside manner. She was extremely gentle and took her time with procedures that had been very painful for me in the past. I would 100% recommend Dr. Ting. read more

I saw Dr. Joneschild for a simple wrist condition. I have never had a worse doctor. She seemed distracted and was extremely rude. In the end, her treatment plan was ineffective and I was in pain for months. I wish that I had seen a different doctor, but she was in network so I went there. I tried to transfer to another doctor in the same practice, but the desk staff seemed friendly but confused and lost my paperwork multiple times. I asked if there was a timeline for getting it, and they just didn't seem to know what to do. Disappointing. read more

Basically, if your hand is not hanging off your wrist, don't come here. I waited 40 minutes to see Dr. Ting. I expect a skilled, professional doctor to have no only soft skills (people skills if you don't know what that means) but to know what to do for their field of work, aka what they went to school for and why my insurance is paying them 200-400 for a 10 minute visit. I was having awful wrist pain and hand pain, Dr. Ting said the type of pain I have is very common and she has alot of friends and family with the "same issue". Well bish... The pain ended up getting so bad after seeing you that I looked up a YouTube PT video and found that all I needed was to massage the surrounding joints, turned out my wrist was locked in a bad position and the ligament just needed to be stretched. Pain is gone now, but you would think a hand doctor would atleast know to touch your hand to see of something is not moved by correctly. I was able to figure it out on my own by using my other hand and a free video. Super big waste of time coming here, would not recommend. read more

I recently had surgery with, Dr Ting, to repair a cut tendon and I couldn't be happier with the way I was treated through the whole process. The staff at the center were courteous and personable all the while treating me with respect - especially with my time and my recovery needs. I especially liked the follow ups and appointment reminders. I want to call out Dr. Ting her assistant Kai and my PT, Kim- they were awesome. All three had my best interests in mind and gave me real life expectations on recovery. Thank you, all, for helping me to correct my error in cutting my tendon. read more

I saw Dr Carlton Keck in consultation initially for two trigger fingers on my right hand. He told me the treatment options, namely a cortisone injection or surgery, and he discussed the pros and cons of each. He was kind and patient, and he took his time to give me full explanations and to answer all my questions. He didn't end the appointment until everything was discussed and a plan made. I decided to try a cortisone injection, which he administered without pain! He was gentle, thorough, kind and efficient. I was very satisfied. Unfortunately, I ended up back in his office five days later because I fell and incurred a severe fracture of the right distal radius. Again, he was very patient, kind, and fully engaged with me, listening attentively to my description of the accident, the ED (Emergency Department) treatment, and so forth. He made arrangements to operate on my wrist the following day. The surgery went well, and I saw him frequently over the course of the next few months. He told me that my fracture was the worst of that type that he has seen in his 32 years of practice, but his manner remained confident and optimistic. He had deep empathy for the pain and difficulties I experienced and he was emotionally supportive of my healing process, which I haven't always experienced with surgeons. I will be having another surgery, which I hope will enable my wrist to be more fully functional, and I don't think I could find a more competent specialist or a finer human being than Dr Keck to operate on me. I should add that I have had positive experiences with the rest his staff as well. The receptionists have always been pleasant and helpful, and the billing and medical records people are efficient and congenial. Dr Keck's assistant, Sandy, has done everything to assist me through this process, including arranging quick appointments when I needed to see Dr Keck and rescheduling surgery bookings to accommodate my needs. Dr Carlton Keck is not only a highly competent and experienced hand surgeon, he is also a very kind and empathetic human being. I recommend him without reservation! read more

I see Dr. Miyano and Sandy is my therapist. The care has been outstanding. I have "Golfer's Elbow" which means the tip of my elbow through my forearm is - or has been - very painful. Dr. Miyano recommended that I try physical therapy before I consider surgery. After a few weeks of Sandy's therapy and advice on care, my year of pain appears to be getting under control. Dr. Miyano didn't steer me to expensive and disruptive surgery first, which I appreciate. Unfortunately I have had some scheduling confusion as well. They have an automated phone reminder (this is why email reminders are so much better!) that is not very clear, and it kicked out an incorrect appointment date for me. My advice is to get an appointment card if you are at their office and follow that, or if you phone for an appointment, ask them to shoot an email to you. It is a new system so I'm sure they will work out the glitches. read more

I'm a self-pay patient, so I was concerned that maybe I wouldn't be well-received. This hasn't been the case at all. I originally came to SHSG for a surgical consult following a wrist fracture. I consulted w both Drs Joneschild & Ting. Dr Ting performed my surgery, which went well. Even the anesthesiologist they contract w at my procedure explained everything to me as we went, making sure I understood & that I was as comfortable as I could be. (This was a nice surprise bc ones I had previously worked w I found to be toads.) Just as Dr Ting was at my consult, she was v succinct & informative. She didn't rush anything & made sure I understood the post-op plan. I decided also to see a physical therapist at the office, Sonny (sp?), who was also clear & helpful. This whole ordeal w my injury has been painful & depressing at times, but the treatment & care I've received by every staff member here has been great. read more

A truly demeaning experience. These people run a conveyor belt of non-personal medicine. Pain management is clearly an annoyance to them. Following hand surgery, in which bones were cut out, the doctor opined that most people don't need pain management for more than three days. I went to them for a second opinion and opted to go with another hand surgeon. Currently my surgery is failing and I opted to go back to this clinic to have a consult with a different surgeon. They made it very difficult to transfer doctors even though I'm not patient of record, I only went once for a consult. They said it would be one to two weeks and I asked if we could please shorten that due to my situation, this was about 3 weeks ago they have still not contacted me and as far as I know I have not been transferred to the other doctor that I requested. read more

Had a wonderful experience here. Son had a broken finger - came here for a second opinion and ended up staying. Dr. Joneschild was very professional - really seemed to know what she was talking about. Looked at the finger and was able to give a good assessment of it. Another doctor though there was a chance of infection which would mean we would have to do surgery. She looked at it and based on how many days it had been completely ruled out infection. We opted for no surgery - so the made a custom fit splint for him - I don't think every place does this - the other doctor at the other place would have just had him in an ordinary splint. The custom splint makes all the difference because it stays on and protects the finger all the way around. Anyway, long story short - everyone was super nice and helpful, from the doctors to the therapists. And yes, they are expensive, but when it's my son's finger - I'm willing to shell out a little more for better care and service. The wait time was never bad - maybe it's the time I went. We chose early afternoon time slots and it seemed to work out - never waited more than 5-10 min. Parking - THIS is another issue. They have paid parking underground - I really feel like I get ripped off there, but whatever - you've got to let some things go otherwise you go crazy. read more

Stay away form this place. They do not care and from the many comments about the staff being bad, they are but they would not be that way if they where not told how they where to handle patients by the doctors. I had hand surgery on my right hand. I had the stitches taken out a week later. The next day I fell and busted up my incision completely. I call the next day saying I wanted to come in and have the doctor rebadge it and make sure it would be ok. I was told there was now one available to see me but they would check and call me back. I never got a call back. I then call the number they game in their paper work to call if there where problems, the office manager, I got a message that said leave a message and I would get a call back. Never happened. I then canceled the rest of my appointments there and will never go back. I did get a call back from a nurse a few weeks later when I sent them a letter explaining what had happened to me. I would have reviewed 0 stars if i could. Very specifically, Dr. Beverly Ting. Unless you want your hand in jeopardy, do not even consider seeing someone as incompetent. Once she realized my case was non surgical, she gave 0 attention and seemed in a terrible hurry to leave. Now details: I had a wrist injury that happened in Mid November. I came to see her wearing a splint, which she suggested I take off and wear a skimpy TFCC strap without ordering a CT, MRI, nothing. By end December, the pain and swelling was so bad, I couldn't even use my left hand to pick up a light sweater or eat using a fork and needed a full cast. Thanks to competent medical care, I am healing but terribly slowly but much slower than normal since I didn't get any decent, useful medical advice till December end. read more
