Saw another reviewer mention a failed surgery with Keem and that "complications occur," as if this…read moreisn't what so often happens with Keem (I've met people who've known physical therapists who work with numerous butchered Keem patients at a time) - so I'm back to update my review. This is a placeholder until I type out another banger lambasting Keem for being a terrible surgeon. Keem told me my artificial disc migrated - in actuality, a team of Virginia Mason neurosurgeons investigated, and found the disc was installed in the wrong place (which took a while to diagnose, as Keem refused to release intra-operative imaging for close to a year). Entire steps of my surgery were skipped. And he lied to my face about it - and to the Polyclinic ... just before mysteriously leaving his cushy position as their sole spinal surgeon. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Keem is a lazy, incompetent butcher. I still experience daily pain and take daily pain medications after what he did to me as a young athlete. He mysteriously vanished from the Polyclinic after multiple government investigations of my surgery, including a winning ruling by the Washington state AG's office because Keem was double-paid by both me and my insurance, and his office said I'd have to sue him directly to be reimbursed. He's corrupt, and a liar. After some time floating around, it appears he's been hired by Swedish. They should be ashamed of themselves - I reached out directly to share the results of my surgery. Clearly, Swedish doesn't care about the longevity of their patients, or keeping them safe, functional, and pain-free. Keep in mind that this man has a long and extensive history of "complicated" surgeries, as well as kickbacks into the millions from the manufacturer of the only artificial disc he installs. (They also cover fusion equipment, etc.) I could find no other surgeon who only uses equipment from one company ... let alone ones paid by them on the side. More corruption to the absolute core. More coming. I have other reviews for him in my profile, including one in which I caught him leaving himself a fake positive review. Don't be fooled by this slimy, unctuous guy who has a long history of leaving his patients immediately post-op to go get paid by Medtronic while they suffer through permanent and life-changing complications. Expect a PA to see you for your first post-op appointment (dangerous and insidious scope creep, going against all advice of the American Medical Association), and expect them to misread your imaging and gaslight you about your pain because they have no idea what they're talking about. This is an established pattern of Keem's. If Keem has 5,000 haters, I'm one of them. If Keem has 1 hater, it's me. If Keem has 0 haters, it's because his rotten surgery finally killed me Lmaoooo. If Shakespeare knew this guy, he'd call him an egg.

My surgery did not go as…read moreexpected and there were complications that kept me in the hospital for 14 days as opposed to the 2 that was anticipated. I'm 52 and totally understand the complications and risks with this type of surgery. I felt what could go wrong went wrong. The problem with a lot of people is they do not understand that when something goes wrong, almost all of the time it has nothing to do with the surgeon performing the procedure. Things just happen. Dr. Keem has always been professional and straight forward with me as well as the staff that works around him. I knew the risks and accepted what happened as part of that but Dr. Keem is great. I'd go to him again (this was my second procedure with him...the first being 7 years ago). The staff at the surgery center was amazing. All of them were great compared to my previous visit. I'd like to give a huge shout out to all of those who cared for me but the one that stood out the most was Morgan. She seemed so much of a real person than a robotic nurse that i had experienced with my previous surgery. She was easy to talk to and seemed relatable to my life experiences. Again...all of the nursing staff was amazing this visit but Morgan stands out the most. Thanks again.

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming, professional, and calming. He is friendly and efficient, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. He took the time to really listen to my concerns, thoroughly explained what was going on, and outlined a clear, personalized treatment plan. I have never felt rushed or pressured--just genuinely cared for. Upon our first meeting, his knowledge and expertise were immediately evident and he made sure that I was comfortable every step of the way. After just a few sessions, I noticed a significant improvement in my pain levels, mobility, and overall well-being. The adjustments were precise and effective, and I appreciated the additional advice on posture, stretching, and long-term care. If you're looking for someone who is skilled, attentive, and truly dedicated to helping you feel your best, this is the place to go! I'm incredibly grateful for the care that I've received and will definitely continue coming back.

I haven't had much, if any, neck issues since then. And even if I get some flare ups, I feel confident to resolve that with the exercises he's given me, and it resolves within a week (usually less). I recently started having really bad lower back pain for about the last 1-2 months and I finally made an appt to see him today. Zach gave me such an informative rundown on the root issues and the assessment was spot-on to my bad [posture] habits. He assured me in the way I needed it and again gave me the proper tools and exercises to feel confident that I can tackle this. I left feeling much less stiffness and tension in my lower back bc he spent some time loosening it up and adjusting my back. Can't say enough wonderful things about the guy and his knowledge. I already recommended him to some of my gfs.

He presented me with options and gave the likelihood of my ailment coming back. We had a medical student shadow for my appointment. I've had appointments where the doctor either lets the med. student take over entirely or ignore that they were even in the room making it awkward for everyone; Dr. Miyano doesn't do this at all. It was a comfortable consultation appointment. I felt guided with direction and empowered with the ability to choose what I wanted to do versus not being given options. I am a 5'4" 110 lb woman who has always been healthy and fit. Now? Now, I can barely run a mile or let's be serious, put on my socks or underwear without pain lifting that leg she operated on. Post-op, all she did is repeat ad nauseum that I need to "heal." I am 47!!! I am FIT and HEalthy! No health issues. She undermined me and treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about. My life has never been the same. That was 2019. Fast forward to 2025. Still curse her name for dismissing me everytime I came back hoping for post-care and answers. But as you see, I have Dr. Schwartz on that list to whomever asks me about a great shoulder-guy. (I work in the electrical industry; we get a lot of shoulder and knee problems.) Anyway, I was warned by my coworkers who've gone through similar shoulder surgeries about all the post-surgery problems, mainly pain and recovery I will encounter. Not true after my surgery with Dr. Schwartz. Yes, your mileage may vary but the worst part for me was having to wear a sling. My pain was minimal and recovery was very quick. (I had the full-meal deal; rotator cuff and bicep reattachment and I guess my collarbone had to be shaved.). Dr. Schwartz was very patient and actually listened to my concerns both pre and post-op. He explained everything from my injuries, my upcoming surgery and what to expect afterwards. He's pretty proud of his work, even showing me a video of my surgery. And his staff was awesome! I liked his work so much, I had my other shoulder repaired three months after my first.. this shoulder's recovering fine as well. One thing to note: getting something surgically repaired is not like taking your car to the mechanic. You can't expect to just go take boxing lessons after you leave the shop. It takes time and a lot of physical therapy to properly heal, as Dr. Schwartz told me on my very first visit. Follow your post-op instructions handed to you and actually DO your physical therapy routines and you'll be fine. So if you're looking for a really great shoulder-surgeon, "I gotta guy...."
