I needed a very minor repair on a hearing aid that took about 3 minutes to do and was charged the $65.00 "for service" and $115.00 for the minor repair, all this after I because they do not work with my health insurance company. She said "he was the best I've ever been too." My mom is profoundly deaf without hearing aids and has been since her 50s. She has visited numerous hearing aids centers over the decades, last most recent being Costco. Accompanying her to her appointment, I saw first hand the respect and professionalism Zach has. He knew how to engage my mom without embarrassing her because she needed a little more support in the process. His evaluation of her current hearing level was outstanding. I've never experienced that with my mom's other providers. When it came to the 'selling' of the hearing aids themselves, there was no pressure, simply a description of each type of device, how it would benefit her, and even what he wouldn't recommend because the device would be more than she needs in her life. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed every step of the way, talking me through everything. Dr. Karmali is extremely kind, attentive, gentle, humble, and calming. She went to UW Med School, so extra points for that! Another cool thing is that Swedish uses MyChart, an online personal health record system where you can see your medical history, appointments, messages from your doctor, etc. Strangely, when I called to make an appointment, the receptionist said that Dr. Karmali did not have any openings until January 2015. However, when I went online to MyChart, I saw multiple openings between now and the end of the year. I ended up making an online appointment with Dr. Karmali for early December and cancelling my phone-made appointment with another doctor at Swedish. I am so excited to go see Dr. Karmali again soon!

After my motorcycle accident in 2009 Dr. Karmali checked up on me and worked with my medical records from Harborview to continue with my pain management care. To this day she still works closely with me on this care and has been very good at keeping an eye out for my health and well being and continues to work with my pain management doctor at Harborview. Dr. Karmali set me up with MyChart (available to all Swedish patients) when I moved back to WA and through that I am able to discuss issues with her without having to make an appointment to go into the clinic (I'm already there enough as it is!) and she is quick to get back to me usually same day but definitely within 24 hours. She even responds on her days off and to me, that is complete dedication and proves just how much she cares about her patients. I have recommended her to a couple of friends and they love her as well. Dr. Karmali is very knowledgeable and caring. If she is unsure of something she will investigate the issue to ensure that you get the best possible care. She is just an amazing doctor and an even more amazing person.
