I usually groom my own 10 pound chi-poo Jinx. She's very fluffy. I'm self taught from years of watching professionals on YouTube. I learned on my first dog, a Bichon Frise. So I understand what it takes to create a smooth and polished coat on a fluffy dog. But sometimes I need someone else to do this job when I get busy or don't feel well. I heard about Seaside from a friend. I live in the area so I called and spoke to Lisa. I guess she's the owner. I mentioned Jinx's nervousness and she told me to come in the next day. She didn't mention that there would be a parade of regulars coming in (about 8 dogs) at that time or that she only accepts cash/checks. I would've come in earlier if I had known so I could've had her undivided attention to go over Jinx's needs. Lisa told me and my husband it would take about 3 hours, so we were surprised when she called us at 2 hours that she was ready. She reported that Jinx handled everything well. And honestly she seemed pretty chill. So that's a plus For her. She doesn't like everyone. At first glance, Jinx looked really cute. She had a cute little neckerchief on. We had to return with a checkbook to pay, as we weren't told about the payment situation. It's displayed on the counter, but it's so uncommon and we were distracted that we missed it. Good communication for first timers is important to establish orientation and trust. Going back home gave us time to evaluate Jinx's groom. I noticed right away there was unevenness on the hair around her face, so I had Lisa correct it. Later, however, after we left, I continued to notice mistakes. Uneven, choppy hair on the top of the head, the sides of the face under the ears, clipper trails marks on the body, and the tail wasn't even touched. While they did a better job on areas like the face and legs than I could ever do, it looked like the job was rushed and not inspected carefully for mistakes. I would normally go back to have things corrected if it was, say, my own hair. But I can't put Jinx through that. She's really a sensitive little dog and doesn't like new situations. So I will correct those things on my own. I'm not sure if I will be going back to Seaside. Maybe for the walk-in nail trim they offer, since they're so close. I really don't like being let down after paying $85 for two 1/2 hours of a basic service, though. While I realize that I am not easy to please And that I'm a perfectionist, I still expect professionals to know their job and perform basic quality control over their service. I would think they'd put their best foot forward for a new potential long term client. You don't get a second chance to make a good first impression. Sorry, Lisa. I liked you and your cute little store. I just think you're a little overbooked and could do better. read more

Love this place! I take my hairless cat there once a month for a bath & nail trim. They are super nice and can tell they love animals!

I've always enjoyed DIY projects, so when I attempted to give my standard poodle a summer cut at home for the first time I (naively) thought, "it's just a shave down, how hard can it be?" I was wrong. Halfway through attempting to groom him myself at home, I realized my poodle's DIY haircut looked less like a masterpiece, and more like a kindergarten art project. We love this little "ma & pa" grooming shop in Playa Del Rey. I can only speak to getting our cat's nails trimmed...but every time we go in they are so friendly and helpful. My cat is absolutely TERRIFIED of getting her nails cut but they do it as quickly (about 1-2 mins) as possible. They normally don't even take her back just do it right there in the front. Took our pup Otis to Seaside Grooming for the first time yesterday and LOVED it! As a medium/large Goldendoodle, cuts can be quite expensive and quite lengthy. The last place we took him ended up being a 6 hour cut that cost us an arm and a leg. WOW my best Yelp discovery ever!! I would give 10 stars if I could. Found this little gem of a grooming facility right around the corner from my house which is fantastic! Little history first here: Called Marina Vet (my Vet for about a year now) for simple nail clipping. They tell me both my cats must get annual checkup, to which I say fine, but I need those little claws clipped asap. NOPE, they refuse saying I have to get them both examined prior, and the doc is out doing procedures, nothing till next week! Ok so now I gotta spend $150 for exams AND my usual $56 for nail trimming. RIPOFF WHAT?? Cat Practice in MDR wanted rabies shots and exams prior to nail trimming before I went to Marina Vet, another Ripoff artist! So I do my Yelp search, and lo and behold I find Lisa at Seaside Grooming. I call her, and she says sure, bring them in right now. So I'm there in 10 mins, she takes them both right in, even let's me "assist" her in holding my little rascals. She was gentle, highly proficient, and as nurturing as you could ever hope for. And cost...........$6 bucks each...........compared to $28 at the Vet each! I even had her do a brushout which the Vets never bother with. My only regret is not finding Lisa much sooner. She is amazing, and clearly loves these animals! I found my new groomer and HIGHLY recommend Seaside Grooming!! read more

Lisa is an angel sent from heaven above. Most groomers don't handle cats, let alone give them lion cuts, but Lisa does and she's amazing at it! I have a sassy Maine Coon kitty and her fur needs to be shaved every few months and Lisa takes care of her every time! I drop off my cat in the afternoon and she's usually done within 3-5 hours. I drove down the street to Seaside Groomiing where they took my cat as a drop in appointment. I've never had a better experience! These people are DIFFICULT! I made an appointment based on the great reviews. I was told by Lisa to bring a copy of my dog's parvo shots- easy! Day of the appt, brought the dogs and was told our vet records were insufficient. So, I asked if I could fax over all the shots records, which they said was ok, but they wouldn't take my dogs in until the records were in front of them. What an inconvenience?! I don't see why I would have to book another appointment if they allow a faxed copy? This just made me so mad and what a waste of my time! These people are not "dog people." Went to Seaside Grooming for the first time today and it was GREAT! I have heard great things from clients at my work. So I decided to book and appointment for my dog Fred who is a white cocker spaniel. I dropped him off at 10:30 and he was done by 2:30. WOW. Color me thoroughly impressed. I came here because I needed to get my cat's nails trimmed. She's normally a difficult kitty (it takes a few vet techs to hold her down when she gets her nails clipped there) but Lisa's other reviews were amazing so I figured I'd give it a go. I called in advance and Lisa told me I could stop by whenever. She had me hold my cat in the waiting area since there was a yippy dog in the back.
