A bone I almost choked on in the catfish nuggets...

I almost choked on catfish nuggets, it was a bone in it. I was offered a refund or remake of order, but I was too shaken up to drive. My top of mouth and throat hurts, I'm up here today to talk to someone...

Neighborhood eatery. Out running errands and figured I would stop and pick up a bite to eat. Cashier was friendly and took my order. She also informed me it would take a few minutes. Received order within 10 minutes or so. I wanted some mild sauce the young lady who gave me my order pointed to a container that was out in the open for me to get it myself. Imo that was unsanitary along with the fact Covid is still here. I passed on the sauce.

Sometimes it's good sometimes it's not so it depends on the cook I'm assuming plus they take long

This is a cash only service and they serve hot dogs, polish's and burgers. I always opt for their hot dog with everything (raw onions, sports peppers and mustard) with their fresh cut fries. BOMB! Always friendly service upon entry. This is a small joint with limited counter seating in the lobby walk through with picnic tables outside for outdoor dining. Located steps away from Sox stadium, so I'm sure it's a treat for ball park attendees. I've been coming here for years and will continue to do so. Enjoy! Tell'em Cat sent you!

I went with a hot dog (comes with fries...really, really, really good fries!). How was it? Hot Dog and Fries- It was great! Depression style, soft bun, good toppings, good snap. Now to the fries.............If you know me, you know that I love a good fresh cut fry. They were perfectly crispy outside, soft inside. Cheers to the fry cook at this establishment. They were head and shoulders above all other fries that I sampled in the great city of Chicago. Perfection! Would definitely make this place my hot dog joint if I lived in Chicago. Really enjoyed it!

The food was ok, or so-so...which is bad considering their history. The lechón was mediocre, no seasoning (before you could see it on there.) now it looks like chicken or turkey. The alcapurrias were super greasy, hollow (?) and flavorless. Alcapurrias should be more substantial, not super soft like these. The rice was ok, but again it had no authentic flavor. The pastelillos (ground beef empanadas) were thin and dry. They may have been from yesterday. The passion fruit juice (parcha) is still delicious and the only good thing I had, besides Coco Rico soda. They must have new owners trying to mimic old recipes because this was our second chance attempt. We will now go to La Bomba, Jibaritos y Más or Las Palmas when they open.

She's Mexican but told me about this place. She said there are several food trucks stationed in Humboldt Park, yet this one is her favorite. I believe I had Puerto Rican food before when I was out and about in the city, though I never paid attention to any aromatic mobile vehicle in this neighborhood. Umm...Rosa J., did I not tell you to stay vigilant? Fortunately I had some cash on hand. I scrambled $7 for an order of bistec mixta, which came with arroz. Wow, the rice was SO fresh, and the steak was easy to chew and flavorful. When the young lady was preparing for my food, I was staring at a copious amount of "frituras." They smelled heavenly and were definitely soliciting my taste bud. Well, I gotta get back to work. Fried food doesn't mesh too well with my working stomach. Surely we will meet each other again when I have a day off. I didn't see any credit card machine inside the truck, so I have no doubt it is cash-only. I didn't really notice if their hours were posted on the exterior. I bet it depends based on weather or seasonality.
