My partner raved about how good his was and that it was full of potatoes and shredded chicken. Mine on the other hand was not. It was almost like I had a totally different pie. It is amazing how hard this place works to get food to the Humboldt Park community. We were able to get meals to over 600 families. Every person you come in contact with is genuinely caring and is willing to help. I only take away one star because at times it can be extremely hectic and a little unorganized, but there is so much that goes into these events I suppose that is to be expected. FYI. One of the Nuns from here won the cooking show Chopped. Pretty neat!

He went home to no electricity and no food. He was unable to get in to DHS or other agencies due to the holidays. He found this place online on his phone. He emailed. And an angel named Sister Stephanie responded to him suggesting other places he could reach out to. He was able to get his electricity back on. Sister Stephanie personally delivered food to him to ensure he had food until he was able to get to DHS. A true blessing.

This review is specific to the foodstand near Section 109 that serves "Da Burger" as well as…read moreordinary burgers, etc. I'm certain that others may have included food in the United Center review, but frankly the whole UC shouldn't get a bad rap if their foodservice provider isn't up to par. While attending the Blackhawks game on 4/4/13, we decided to get a couple of burgers while enjoying the shootout practice well in advance of the game. So I went to get some while my friend stayed in the seats. I was the third party in line at this stand, with several lines across it, each 2-4 deep. It was a little more than one hour before game time. Adjacent food areas that offered hot dogs, but no burgers were fairly void of activity. I finally get to the front and am ready to order. "Two burgers" I say to which I am promptly told that they are OUT of burgers. "How long will it be?" I ask and find out it will be another 15 minutes. So let me understand this - Levy runs the concessions for the Blackhawks who regularly sell out every game, and they can't have enough burgers ready? Even though they can expect 22,000 fans every night - rarely more or less and they can't prep enough with a fairly static number of fans at these events? I was pretty upset and needless to say, the people behind me who had yet to discover this weren't exactly happy either. The attendee who was serving me said, "it's not my fault, but all these customers will get mad at me." I told her I wasn't mad at her, but also added that her manager should be out front explaining to fans that there were no burgers. Of course, the manager wasn't to be found. The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is due to that server, who remained calm and helpful. I ended up ordering "Da Burger" which wasn't exactly what I would have liked - and it cost me more to boot. If there's one thing that's not enjoyable at sporting events, it's being held hostage by concessionaires who overcharge due to a captive audience AND can get away with shoddy service like I experienced. Levy has been in the business too long to operate like this - what a total disappointment! At least the Hawks are good - too bad their foodservice is horrible.

I discovered Fisherman's Island nearly a year ago as I drove passed it while leaving my internship…read moresite. Every single time I drove passed I looked at it, wondering what its prices and food were like. The preparation for an initial visit came prior to headed to Lawndale Christian Fitness Center because the restaurant sits enroute back to my apartment in the neighboring neighborhood. And with the restaurant being a bookmark of mine for nearly a year I figured it was time to finally visit. Now, the parking lot is shared at this restaurant, but it has well enough parking spots available on any part of Lawndale Plaza, the property where it sits. The interior of this restaurant made me think of a fish dock the way it is decorated with its painted, old, run down wooden wall and door appearance. Totally in sync with a name like Fisherman's Island. Now, other than its decorative - fish dock style interior, this restaurant has the bullet proof window shielding the employee which is not just this restaurant, but its neighboring restaurants, too. That alone gives me an idea of what kind of customers these restaurants serve. I got a chance to see a little bit of that firsthand because during my visit, one of the customers tried to steal a bottle of water then showed attitude once she was caught in the act. Another customer even went to the point of questioning the employee on why she was charged extra which most likely was tax, as we all are charged. After contemplating between either the tilapia, the catfish, and the whiting I ordered the tilapia which the sizes come in either 1/2 pound or 1 pound. Once I ordered I noted that all platters come with 3 sides: broccoli, corn and potatoes which is not that bad of a meal for its price listed. I did love that they wrapped my order inside of saran wrap which prevented any leakage. But once I opened it up, it was pure heaven because it smelt lovely! Ah, the wonderful smell of seasoned tilapia combined with broccoli. Waiting on my order I noted that most customers pre-ordered which I imagine eliminates the possibility of a long wait which really wasn't that bad for me. My food actually was completed in a appropriate time frame, but ordering again I would probably pre-order being that I live a little over one mile away. Pre-ordering would eliminate me from having to sit on that window sill again because my ass was hurting during my wait. The only thing in the dining area was a shelf stocked with canned goods, a cooler with drinks, and a trash receptacle for whatever known reason. With that I observed, it is obviously a takeout restaurant which probably stems from past incidents with customers and reason why that bullet proof window is plastered up shielding the employee. I'm just going to end it right here and say look no further if you are browsing through other reviews because this review is all you need to see. Other than my ass hurting from sitting on that window sill, I have no complaints about the overall service. I enjoyed the food and would gladly order from Fisherman's Island again; possibly regularly. If I knew how much I missed I would have visited a lot sooner, but better now than never.
