Absolutely Horrible Experience with Marty at IHT…read more We recently purchased a Hot Springs hot tub from IHT and, while we absolutely love the tub itself, our experience with Marty was nothing short of a nightmare from start to finish. A close friend of mine sells Hot Springs tubs and had helped us narrow down the exact model we wanted, so we walked in as an extremely easy sale. Unfortunately, Marty seemed to take that as a license to stop trying. He made it very clear from the beginning that customer service was not a priority. After negotiating and agreeing on a price, Marty insisted that we drive through a snowstorm with summer tires to deliver a physical check that day, claiming it was the only way to lock in the price. We later learned that was completely false when the store called to take final payment--over the phone, via credit card, with no issues or added fees. Post-purchase, Marty continued to drop the ball. He was consistently rude, condescending, and disorganized. He referred to me by the wrong name multiple times, even after I corrected him. He also scheduled our orientation, then canceled it the night before at 9 PM via text--saying his grandchild was sick and he needed the day off. I responded understandingly, expressing concern, but also letting him know how unprofessional that was. He never responded. The next morning, I called the store to follow up--only to have Marty answer the phone. When I asked why he was at work after canceling our appointment to supposedly care for his grandchild, he became defensive and rude instead of owning up to the situation or apologizing. When I expressed how upset I was about the entire experience and the promises he hadn't followed through on, he cut me off and started aggressively questioning what he hadn't delivered on. For an $18,000 purchase, I expected far better treatment--especially from a sales rep earning commission. Marty was dismissive, unprofessional, and made an exciting purchase stressful and frustrating. If you go to IHT and Marty is the rep who greets you, RUN the other direction!! I truly don't know how he's still employed there. Again--the tub itself is fantastic. But the experience getting there, thanks to Marty, was absolutely awful.

Marty came to our house multiple times for tub measurements and he always quickly responded to our phone calls and pleas for help. We wanted a hot tub that could go in our basement- not an easy task. In fact, previous dealers had told us it was not possible. With perserverance and Marty's expertise, the perfect hot tub, the Caldera Kauai, was found. Marty helped develop the plan to get it into our basement. We have been using our hot tub every morning for the last six months and could not be happier with it. Marty is trust worthy, knowledgeable and provides excellent service. I highly recommend him for your hot tub needs.

Unfortunately, Harmony Hearth and Home are the only Harmon Stove Dealer in Cheyenne. I will try to…read morestick to the facts, rather than just venting. I have had Harmony Hearth do the annual service for my Harmon pellet stove a number of times. I have always found the service techs (if that's the correct term) to be personable enough. However, I have learned to double check the service after they leave and have had to finish the job more than once. My impression is not that they are lazy or dishonest, but just that they do not really know all the stuff that needs to be done for the annual service. I have also had Harmony out for repair work. They replaced the hopper latch once. That was a simple task and they got it right the first time. The bigger, but not complicated, repair was replacement of the combustion blower motor. This requires unlatching and sliding the stove out of its insert, unplugging the motor, undoing a few wingnuts to remove the blower, removing the impeller from the blower (one screw), attaching the impeller to the replacement motor, reinserting the blower, tightening the wingnuts and plugging the new motor in. (Simple enough that I would have done it if I knew the fault was the combustion motor in the first place. The stove just gave me a "status" error light and didn't work.) The initial blower motor was about five years old when it went out and I run the stove 24/7 during heating months so that is not a knock on Harmon (although the Harmony guys are always telling me that I should switch from the top rated stove brand to another brand which is better. A brand they sell . . . .) Anyway, on the initial service, the tech showed up in a reasonable time but it took several service calls to get it fixed. (One to diagnose after which the blower had to be ordered, another to replace the blower, another to diagnose the continued noise which (the auger was wearing out) and another to come back and replace the auger.) Ouch, that was a bit expensive. After all that, the repairs were complete, the stove started and worked fine and I thought it was the end of the story. The bill was a bit steep, but whatever, I paid it. Unfortunately, the replacement combustion motor was after market, not OEM, which I did not know about. The cost difference is about $80, which I would have paid had I been given the option. The after market blower went out about 2/3 of the way through the first heating season. I called for warranty service, and was given an appointment months later after the heating season was over. When I asked why the delay, they said the owner does all the warranty service and that was his first available appointment. With no one else available to service the stove in Cheyenne, I had to grin and bear it. When the warranty service appointment came due, it was not the owner, it was a technician who was unable to get it fixed. I reset the appointment for short time later with the owner, who showed up as scheduled. After inspecting the blower, he said that it was not a bad blower, he just had to break it lose from a carbon buildup to get it to work. That is not supposed to happen and he did not really have an explanation. Sounded funny to me, but the stove was running so I let it go. I got a $50 bill for what was supposed to be a warranty call because the blower Harmony put in less than a season before wasn't working. While not happy, it was only $50 so I paid it. Now, the first cold snap of the next year, I have run one . . . . one bag of pellets through the stove and the blower motor quit again, exactly like last time. I called to see if I could get them out to deal with it, they would not commit to servicing it under the warranty and said they would have to talk to the owner about when they could get out to look at it. I have not received a return call yet. . . and have a feeling that, if they do call, they are going to say they are booked until after the heating season is over again. Obviously, I am frustrated enough to post a review. I have a simple rule for these things. I give people the benefit of the doubt until I feel they have given me a reason not to. Then I just don't deal with them again. I have now ordered an OEM motor and will just replace it myself. I have also reached out to next closest service companies in the Northern Colorado area, Advanced Comfort in Greeley and Lemons Heating, to schedule a mid season service. (Yes, I hate disassembling and cleaning the thing.) Hopefully, I will have a better experience there. UPDATE: To be fair, I am updating this review with a note that I did receive a voice mail from Barbara at Harmony Hearth and Home about scheduling a service appointment a day or two after I posted the review. By that time I had already called the manufacturer, got the part numbers, found them online and ordered the replacement parts. Although my mechanical acumen is comparable to Frasier and Niles Crane, I got the job done in less than an hour.

These folks are excellent! Ignore those old negative reviews, as the new ownership really knows…read morewhat they're doing. Terrific customer service and outstanding work to thoroughly clean & service our gas fireplace. We could not be more pleased!
