I had a great experience with JR at August Appliance Repair! First of all, JR returned my phone call in 5 minutes! Instead of a washing-machine service call, he took the time to walk me through to a solution over the phone . He said he hates to charge service calls if there is no need. He also added some helpful tips for care of my washing-machine. Recently, when my freezer quit, he called back after two days. He sounded so sick, he didn't realize that he had Covid. I didn't have a failed appliance, I had a failed breaker in the AC breaker box. His advice pointed me to try he problem and I replaced the breaker, making a service call unnecessary. Our 3 year old high-end LG dryer refused to work, with a light on the display that read "Clean Filter" even though the filter was totally free of lint. I believed the issue was a buildup of lint within the filter housing and duct at the bottom of the unit. The owner's manual provided no instructions for how to access that area, so I contacted LG support through both the website and Twitter. They were totally useless. After an hour of fiddling myself to no avail, I called J.R. at August Ltd. on a Saturday afternoon. He picked up on the first call and troubleshot the issue over the phone. "Do you use dryer sheets?" (Yes.) "Take the filter to a faucet and run water through it. Does the water pass freely, or does it build up a bit?" (Builds up some, I guess.) "Dryer sheets can leave a film behind on the filter such that the filter appears clean but the airflow is still restricted. Clean it with some dish soap and lightly scrub, pat dry, pop it back in and try the dyer again. If that doesn't work, call me back." That fixed it. Why LG support couldn't tell me that, I don't know. What I do know is that J.R. took the time to help diagnose the issue to determine if a repair was even needed in the first place. This saved me the cost of a trip charge and got my dryer up and running immediately instead of waiting for someone to arrive. Most other vendors wouldn't have troubleshot on the phone, and some of them may have even replaced a part simply to generate revenue (much like a car dealership). Five stars! Our 27 year old refrigerator stopped working recently, and since it was a built in with custom wood panel doors, we wanted to fix it rather than consider a new one (which would have cost over $12,000). JR did some extensive testing, and replaced a few parts that were out of spec, but after a few months it stopped cooling again. This time he dug deeper into the unit, removing panels to get access to hidden parts. He found a very slow refrigerant leak caused by two tubes that had rubbed together over the years, and replaced that part. Now our refrigerator should be good for another 27 years ;-) JR is very knowledgeable, courteous and professional. We highly recommend him for appliance repair, and will use him if/when anything else stops working at our house !!!!!! read more

We've used JR to fix two different issues in our fridge and he's been great both times. The first was a minor issue that turned out to be the water valve but the second involved the whole fridge not working. JR took our call, rearranged his schedule because there was perishable food involved, got to our place in a couple of hours, and determined the fix was to replace a fuse on the control board.
