Shady practices and diagnostic fee was not waived. I needed a new igniter to replace weak one on my oven. Diagnostic fee was $119.00 plus tax. If I followed through on repair diagnostic fee would be waived. The whole process was shady and unethical and diagnostic fee was not waived. 1. Technician never explained break down of fees. Just a total amount. 2. Was quoted 150.00, then 100.00 for new part. Then call center quoted me 50.00 for new part. Why the discrepancy? 3. Bill total was $405.00. Part was 50.00. Labor was 350.00 for 2 hours That means labor was 175.00 an hour. 4. Not happy with the service and no transparency in billing. I will not use again. I have contacted BBB. read more

Let me start by saying that the tech who came out was great! This was a follow-up to a recent repair that had a lingering issue. Getting the appointment scheduled without a service call charge was next to impossible. The service at the 800# used to be very good and responsive. Now, you can not speak to a person. There is not option that will allow you to speak to a person. The voicemail tree from hell just refers you to their website. I tried emailing the customer service email with my issue and they would not / could not help me. I think it is a bot. I requested a supervisor and bot emailed me back that all they could do was communicate by email (even though they did not answer my questions and would not put me in touch with a supervisor) It is pretty sad that a company with a good service and good techs hates their customers so much that they will only communicate with you via their website BOTS and will not speak to you on the phone. As a long time A & E customer, this is my very last time using them for anything. Who wants to do business with a company that hates their customers? read more

Yelp shows I'm in San Francisco. I've never lived there. I don't know where that came from. I'm in Coupeville WA. Tried to change it but it remains SF. Our oven quit working and we got A&E (part of Sears Appliance Repair?) to come look at it. It took a while to get someone to come out to the Island to look at it but when he arrived he diagnosed the problem right away and glory be, he had the part it needed, an igniter. The old one would glow but wasn't hot enough to get the gas flowing to the oven. It works fine now, just in time for Thanksgiving. We have one more thing to be thankful for. read more

We're having a problem with an ice maker in our Samsung refrigerator. We called Samsung and they had a Sears repairman come out. The man who came out was very professional and ordered the parts needed to make the repair. We also scheduled a date for him to come back and install the new parts. He said the parts would be delivered to our house and for us to hold on to them until he returned. We received two packages so far. Today, the day of the appointment, we get a voicemail from them saying a part is on back order and they have no idea when it will be in. When my wife called them Sears repair told them a part was on back order and we needed to call them when "all" the parts were here. Here is the problem, we do not have a list of the parts needed to make the repair and we do not want to open the boxes they sent because we don't want anything to get lost. So how can I know when to call. Having parts ship to my house is stupid. They should have the parts delivered to them so they can make sure they have all the parts they need. Relying on the customer to do that is ridiculous especially since they don't tell you what parts they need. The other issue is that they did not call in advance to cancel today's appointment. If they would have called a week ago I would be more understanding. When I called to talk to them the person could not understand me and kept repeating the same canned answer. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was put on hold then immediately the call was dropped. If this wasn't being handled under the Samsung warranty I would never do business with Sears Service again. Update: on August the 8th, after getting Samsung involved, A&E, Sears Service, told us the last part would be here last week, we are still waiting to hear what the new fictitious time line will be. read more

I called up by dryer was not working I have waited for 2 months had a person out he ordered all the wrong parts. waited another month the guy comes out and when he has figured out the dryer is unfixable he calls his boss to file the report and the boss tells him the appt was canceled and I need to call back and make a new appt. This is bull plan and simple they have sent out 3 people to not fix the dryer left me with a broker dryer . IS SEARS REPAIR GOING BANKRUPT. read more

My repair went terrible. It still doesn't work, although the technician tested it for about 3 Minutes, called it good and left. I'm assuming he's going submit his paperwork saying it was resolved and repaired. I've currently had a small load in for 2.5 hours and it's still damp. Let me recap my entire experience with Sears Home Repair since the end of February when my brand new appliance quit working until now, the end of May: 1st visit the work order was never submitted so nothing was ordered. I called customer service, they claimed to put a rush order on the parts after they tracked down the 1st technician to see what was actually needed. Customer service said a senior repair technician would come out with the parts and it would be done completely on the 2nd visit. 2nd visit- senior repair tech shows up without parts and without info on 1st visit. Starts over with new diagnosis. Schedules out a 3rd visit for a little over a week later. 3rd visit-senior Repair Tech calls me to cancel. He claims Sears Home Services overbooked him. Rescheduled for 3 days later. 4th visit- senior repair tech shows up, does work of replacing a blown motor, leaves, dryer still isn't working. 5th visit- a new senior repair tech shows up. Says the heating element has a crack and the control panel is shot. Was probably missed on the initial diagnosis. Orders parts, schedules repair for the 17th. Parts arrive early so I called Sears Home Services on the 14th to ask for a sooner appt if available. Customer service says tech can come one day earlier on the 16th between 12-5. I took the day off, waited and no one showed up. Called customer service and they claim the appt was booked in error for May 22nd, my original appt on 17th is no longer available, so now I have to wait another week. 6th visit- senior repair tech came again. Replaced control panel and heating element. Tested it for a few minutes. Thought it was working and left. It's been several hours and the dryer has not dried one load. I called customer service, spoke to Lloyd a supervisor who said the technician hasn't submitted the paperwork yet and once he does, if he submits it as a need for replacement, Sears will replace it, but I'll have to wait until tomorrow and call back again to find out if the technician has submitted the paperwork. The technician believed the dryer to work when he left. It isnt. His paperwork will say it's repaired. It isn't. I have been without a working dryer for 3 months since the end of February. It was a $600 dryer and Sears has put nearly $900 in repairs into it. I don't want another diagnosis, I don't want another repair. I want a replacement dryer, which is covered under the protection plan that I opted to buy into when I purchased my appliance. However I can't seem to get Sears to actually follow through with that. I've left multiple negative reviews, each one getting a response that someone would get back to me to help within 24 hours. I've gotten no phone call or email. I've emailed them and have gotten the brush off of - "we're checking into this and will get right back with you", but it's been days since anyone has reached out to me. I have however received emails from their parts recovery department claiming they are going to invoice and bill me for parts not used! What parts?? I have no parts! And how is it my problem if their technicians leave behind parts, which to my knowledge they haven't! This is an absolute utter mess. I've even called the local store twice and left 2 messages for the store manager whom I purchased the appliance from, and received no phone call back. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Maybe that will get someone's attention. Rule of thumb, NEVER purchase an appliance from Sears, because if they break down... you're out of luck even with the very best warranty and protection plan they have to offer. The technician came out to check my washing machine (I keep getting an error reading "OE") and dryer (it takes 3 hours to dry a load of clothes and has been like that ever since installation 4 years ago). He had never seen a drain setup like ours for the washing machine and said the error message indicates a drain error so maybe the drain has some plugging problem but other than that he really couldn't speculate more. It just happened again, so I paid $90+ for nothing there. He said the power from the socket was not what it should be for the dryer, and that I needed an electrician. The electrician came out and asked me who installed the dryer...I told him it was Sears, where we purchased it. The installation was done incorrectly! So I paid another $50 or so to find out that Sears had incorrectly installed the dryer. That, of course, is not the fault of the guy who came out on Monday, but overall I paid close to $150 to find out Sears did a faulty installation and that the washer has a generic drain problem. Wow. Going to be purchasing three new kitchen appliances, I'm thinking Sears will not get my business if we can't trust the service people they use. read more

This is the worst service I have ever received. From beginning to end. I purchased a fridge less than 3 years ago and it stopped working. To get any help it is the typical nightmarish phone menu with a list of options that don't apply to me and difficult to get a person on the phone. Then they are difficult to understand but very polite and also completely unhelpful. They schedule A&E to come six weeks later. They charge me $624 and leave and the fridge is not working again. They refuse to refund me but will send someone in another six weeks. I feel like I was stolen from. I have no idea what to do. I think I have to just buy another fridge after putting $624 into this lemon because I am afraid of letting them come back to my house. I was told that I will not be charged for the second call unless the problem is something other than what they fixed the first time - it seems VERY likely to be something else - isn't that common sense?? Absolute nightmare never buy appliances from Sears and whatever you do do not allow A&E to service your appliances - they are horrific. read more

TEchnician seemed unfamiliar with our Maytag washer, ran it through a cycle, and declared it OK. Not OK - it failed again right after he left. We found the fault ourselves (one of the two faucets was shut off) anjd now it is working. Courteous but ineffective repair. read more

I recently needed to have my lawn tractor repaired. I was able to chat online on SEARS website with a SEARS person, who gathered my purchase documents (which I didn't have) that included the model number and based upon the symptoms, provided me with a parts list. Upon receipt of the parts, the parts fit perfectly, but the lawn tractor still needed repairs requiring a technician. I returned to the website and once again, joined a chat, and the appointment was setup very easily. The repair was a few days later but prior to the day, I received an email notice of the repair to remind me of its schedule, and during the scheduled time of the repair, the repair person called me to let me know he was 10 minutes away. He arrived, made the needed repairs, and tested it to be sure it worked per the specifications. Badabee, BOOM it worked. I'm very happy with the entire process, and of course, THE RESULTS read more

Sears remodel of a kitchen a nightmare (more in the remodel section). But as part of this got a stove. It's a LEMON. However even with an extended warranty have had to have Sears out 6 times in less than a year....but no, they will not replace it. They must have 5 service calls where they 'replace significant parts' which means that even though it never works, when they come out and reset it by hand that doesn't count as a service call toward the lemon law. Stay away from Sears....it's a scam. Go to Judd & Black or any other reputable appliance place. read more
