The hot dog itself was pretty mid--even with the toppings. What really makes Maui Dog House stand…read moreout is the theme. I tried the "Forget About It" dog (fun combo of cheese, chili, and bacon), plain fries, and the "Salty Balls" (buttery potatoes). Honestly, the food was just okay, but the menu is huge, and I'm hoping to try the mac salad next time. For a family-owned spot, I didn't feel that warm, welcoming vibe, and after reading the owner's responses to reviews, I wasn't thrilled. Hopefully that changes--Yelp is about sharing honest experiences. Overall, it was an okay visit. I'd give it another shot, especially to try more of the menu and the fun dog bowl presentation in person.

My personal favorites are the beachcomber hotdog, the 5-0 fries with their special sauce (chefs kiss) and the salty balls (these potatoes literally melt in your mouth and the melted butter with it is 10/10), and my absolute favorite is Liz's macaroni salad. Make sure you get a large container of that so you can take some home with you (yes, it really is THAT good). This place has been featured on the Food Network, on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (how awesome is that?!). This place is even Bruce approved, they're kind enough to bring out his own dog bowl with water as well as his own hotdog so he doesn't feel left out lol. All the food is served in plastic dog bowls to really set the scene. I can't brag about this place enough as it is one of my top five favorite places to eat at. Maui, Liz & and family, thank you for all you do and your hard work that doesn't go unnoticed! The food is always delicious and we can't wait to come back for more. If you haven't tried Maui's doghouse yet, add it to the itinerary for your next beach adventure in North Wildwood!

The views are pretty spectacular and we like watching all the boats come in to dock. Crowd levels can vary during peak season and sunny weather so plan ahead. The restaurant has plenty of seating and parking but it still gets busy in their large gravel lot. Especially when they have live music playing -- which is fun! It's an open aired environment with picnic tables so it's best when the weather cooperates. They do have the option to tent the restaurant in to close it off. Service has been okay over the years as they are more of a seasonal restaurant (I'm guessing). On our recent visit we opted for crab cakes which were good. Our son got the all you can eat blue crab. Most dishes range from $15-25 with the all you can eat based on market at around $40-60. After a few drinks the bill can easily crest $150 here for our party of 3. It's worth a visit more for the atmosphere than anything else!
