The workouts are always different and move so quickly that you don't realize that you're almost done. The music is good, the people are welcoming, the gym is clean, and the atmosphere is so fun. The owner and trainer, Shanae, takes the health and safety of her clients personally. She is quick to offer modifications, corrections, and encouragement in a way that makes you feel empowered. She truly cares about everyone who steps through the doors of her business, whether it's your first time or your 1200th time. There are often monthly challenges to push us outside of our comfort zones and incorporate a healthy lifestyle beyond the gym. People bring in fruit from their gardens to share, books from their libraries, and community causes that need support. The Fit Mill is more than just a group HIIT workout. It's a community of incredible people who want to push themselves to be healthier and lift each other up in the process.

I've learned so much about proper technique, and I can already feel the difference in my runs. She's knowledgeable, encouraging, and truly cares about your progress. I came to her after doing a short stint in CrossFit, where I was struggling with hip pain and unable to keep up with the high volume of squats. My goal was to focus on strength training and building muscle. From day one, Andrea really listened and tailored our sessions to focus on building strength and muscle without aggravating my hip. Andrea is incredibly attentive to form, always making sure I'm moving safely and effectively which is a huge priority for me. I continue to progress in building up my strength and I feel stronger and more confident in my body than I have in years--I've lost body fat, gained muscle, and feel like I'm truly training with intention now. Andrea helped me with nutritional guidance, including dialing in my macros to make sure I'm fueling properly to support muscle growth. She also gives me home workouts so I can stay consistent and keep progressing even on days we're not training together. Andrea balances listening to what I want while also pushing me just the right amount. She is knowledgeable, encouraging, and genuinely invested in her clients' success. I'm so glad I found her!

We started off aligning on goals for BMI, strength, physique, nutrition (which I reached ahead of my wedding date thanks to Andrea!). Each training session was custom according to my and my husband's needs and mobility (per the FMS method). As we progressed Andrea tweaked the sessions accordingly, which kept workouts interesting and at the right level of difficulty. Andrea taught us tons about long-term health, nutrition and fitness that I am using in my day-to-day. Turning these habits into a new lifestyle has been the best takeaway from this experience. It was always a dream of mine to work with a personal trainer. And now I can confidently say that the sessions and results with Andrea are just as good as I imagined.

I'm so glad I went back to continue building on the foundation laid the first time. As a new mom navigating some professional uncertainty, this season of life is presenting very different challenges than the season I was in on my last retreat, and yet, I realized that my thought patterns had reverted to the same trap - a feeling that outside accomplishments dictate my inner value. It's been an incredible shift to feel that intrinsic value back in my body and my heart. Getting to experience the retreat with a close friend was an added benefit, and Mel did a great job tailoring the experience to be transformative for both of us. October 16 2024: This retreat was one of the best things I've done for myself. I was burned out and on a hamster wheel of work, worry, stress repeat. Out of sheer desperation I went online and booked an experience with Mel, knowing little about what was in store for me. Through her pre-session meetings, I got a better sense, but you never really know until you get there. From the moment I set foot on the property, I felt serene and taken care of. Mel is incredible in so many ways: as a host, a curator of experiences tailored to your specific energy and season of life, and a cook of amazing, nutritious meals. Best of all, she hones in on the practical elements of a spiritual transformation that you can take back to "real life" with you so that your shift transcends the amazing but brief time in the desert. It's been two weeks since I returned from the retreat and the impact is lasting. Most profound is the realization that my happiness is not contingent upon doing or achieving anything. This has removed a perfectionist tendency and (perhaps ironically) allowed me to be far more productive with less pressure on myself. When I meditate, I remember the look of the stars in Joshua Tree, and somehow, I'm accessing the same incredible feeling. If you're on the fence about booking this, all I can say is it's worth it.

I felt safe with being real and exactly who I was without feeling judged or criticized by how I was feeling or what I was doing. She gently but productively guided me in such a way that was so deeply profound and moving for me. She helped me on so many levels (professionally, personally and spiritually -- all great stuff!). I cannot say enough good things about Mel - she is a rock and so grounded. She was exactly what I needed. Thank you Mel!

Funny thing, I actually pay for a ClassPass membership so I can studio-hop and try new things. This facility is one I discovered through CP. I debated this review, as I am not yet a member; however, I do come weekly and try different classes. While here, I observed their personal trainers working with people, and I knew instantly that I want to train here as soon as my year is up at Crunch. They really focus on form and movement here! I am aware I don't overhead squat properly, and I'm confident they can show me the proper progressions I need to do them right. My goals also include pistol squats, rehabbing my shoulder, improving my balance/stability and core, and not re-injuring. I don't know prices yet, and I will update this review when I learn more info. Total Metabolic Strength left me sweaty and tired! It was a great class... a mix of strength, agility, core, and balance. The Functional Strength Class, was eh... moderate for me. That particular day had more elderly people, and many of the exercises were not a set number of reps, but "as many as you can do". I got frustrated when they were done with Round 3 (they started putting equipment away) and I was still working Round 2. The coach had me finish my sets though, leaving them standing around talking. If I take this format again, I will bring my weighted vest with me. This center has a lot going on- there's also physical therapy and cyrotherapy. I look forward to utilizing both. I sometimes still need someone to pop my shoulder back in place haha, and cyrotherapy is great for pain management and exercise recovery. Aside from seeing individuals working out in proper form, the biggest draw for me was the vibe. As soon as I walked in, I felt welcome. They asked me my goals, and were as enthusiastic as I am about my fitness journey. The manager just so happens to exercise at my main gym, and watched me working with my trainer the day after I was here. She solidified a place in my heart because she was very supportive. She approached me to chat, and never once talked smack on my trainer... she actually praised him. That meant the world to me! I wish every gym was like this- a family who supports one another. Overall, I really love this facility and I look forward to continuing my journey here!

I enjoyed that the class size is small so that the instructor can really focus on providing everyone with a high level of coaching.
