Highlight of the day is going to Metroflex in Oceanside. Tremendous selection of free weights, machine weights, and cardio equipment. The staff is solid and the owner is very personable and knowledgeable. Lots of diversity with respect to training levels and goals. There are competitive bodybuilders, powerlifters, and folks who just want to get in good shape. Great overall vibe there. Good gym but for the love of god fix the god damn treadmills. One is just there that is always turned off. It doesn't work. & the other one turns on but jerks you off. Came in here while charging my Tesla after a two hour drive and I needed to use the restroom. They said no public access to the restroom and then I offered to pay because when you've gotta go you gotta go and she charged me $10 to use the restroom. I then asked if I could work out while my car was charging and she said it would be $20 for the day. I'm writing this because that what ridiculous policy, it's free to write a one star review (: I understand wanting to keep the homeless out but ripping off somebody who needs to use the restroom for $10 is pretty petty. So here's your petty 1 star review. I came in 1:15 pm on 1/28 and spoke with the girl working the counter. Would not recommend anybody charging a Tesla walk in here. - Louise seemed very delusional in his response. There was no policy waiver signed so I'm positive he either made that completely up to back petal or his employee broke his policy. Either way it's a terrible policy. If the business can't afford toiletries then I suggest you find new management because that's a very poor excuse that will remain on this review public for anybody who was willing to read it. read more

This gym is incredible. Every gym claims to have the state of the art equipment, but MetroFlex actually has the tools you need to meet your goals. The vibes in here are absolutely immaculate. Amazing LED stage lighting throughout, and again equipment that isn't just going to improve your flexibility but is primary going to help you meet strength and physique goals. The staff are all super friendly and welcoming as well, there is no judgement no matter what level fitness you currently have. If you're looking for a true lifting gym this is it. There are machines for every single muscle group but also machines that target smaller muscles you don't see often. I enjoy the fact that there is such a diversity of people on their fitness journey. You don't feel intimidated or uncomfortable because there's all shapes, sizes, skill levels, and ages working out. Everyone is respectful and focused. The main thing I appreciate is every single time I walk in this gym they are doing something to improve it. So many gyms I've gone to in the past you end up paying for fees and never see them go to use. Since joining they have upgraded the check in System, painted, gotten several new machines, all current machines are always fixed within a day if broken. They have expanded their merch display, the bathrooms have gotten upgraded. It shows they really care about the space and creating a hardworking, no BS, gym atmosphere and community. 10/10 recommend read more

Ultimately this was my go to gym every time I came in a visited Oceanside area for the past couple years, it has changed a lot when it comes from the way it looks and the vibe. I came in recently and I lost respect for this gym. As I walked in I wasn't greeted I was faced with an attitude by what it seemed like a stuck up teenager up front working the front desk who didn't know what she was doing or talking about she may had seemed 18-19. She didn't even seemed to care all she was doing what seemed to be gossiping with her fellow friends at the front desk instead of doing her job and helping out a value customer ... I was appalled that these are the type of people they are having "run" the gym. I didn't catch her name but she was very blonde and seemed very young . Other than that the gym and upgrades were amazing since the last time I came to visit Just the employees seemed very young and had a bad attitude. Maybe they should think about hiring more mature minded individuals instead of these youngsters who obviously no nothing about running a business let alone a gym. read more

I joined the gym about six months ago. Since then there has been numerous new and unique equipment brought to the gym. The community is very welcoming, as someone new to bodybuilding I have been welcomed in and always treated with respect. I often have questions about the equipment and the front desk and other members are always helpful and patient in explaining how to use it or answering my questions. The question you must ask yourself before joining, is: must a body builder's gym be a dump? Unfortunately the answer at Metroflex Oceanside - is a resounding - Yes. When I check out a gym I look for a variety of things, including a decline free weight bench, a seated freemotion (cables) chest machine, Dynamax medicine balls, Airex foam balance pad (for doing shoulder dumbbell exercises with one knee on the pad), bosu balance trainer, hex trap bar for squats, a prowler/dragging sled, TRX straps, and a cable crossover machine where the arms may be adjusted across a full 180 degrees both vertically and horizontally. I also like to see free weight dumbbells in 2.5 lb increments at the low end, for example, 20 lbs, 22.5, 25, 27.5, 30, 32.5, 35, 37.5, 40 etc. I like to see both a dry sauna and a steam room, inside each locker room (or at least in the common area, such as in 24 Hour Fitness Super Sports). When a gym has all this, it tends to also have whatever else is needed for a great workout in terms of machines, weights and aerobic machines. Metroflex has some of the above (it is missing most all of the 2.5 lb increment smaller dumbbells, and the 55 lb. dumbbells entirely), and no seated freemotion chest machine, no weight sled (no room for it) and absolutely no cable crossover with any sort of horizontal adjustment - the closest you will get the arms on the one and only machine they have where the cables will even adjust vertically, is about ten feet apart. (When the gym is busy, the wait for their one and only vertical adjusting cable crossover machine may be long.) No sauna or steam room - showers only. Very skimpy also on the aerobics equipment (most are broken down or old. There are currently only one or two working lifecycles (the rest are either broken or yellow taped off to enforce social distancing), and only three working treadmills of which not none works properly (none capable of going above 5 mph)). Also on the minus: many of the machines are slapped on the floor at random angles - perhaps to accommodate coronavirus social distancing, but in any case, this creates a haphazard look. The rear part of the gym gives the appearance of a graveyard of unused equipment, and even on the regular floor there are a couple of machines with yellow tape on them or hand written signs indicating "broken." It is also hot as hell and humid in the back parts of the gym whenever the temps are anywhere above 80 outside - I wear a mask always and am sweating profusely - notwithstanding the various fans that are grossly inadequate to cool the place during warmer summer months. No AC. There are different kinds and brands of equipment here - which may be good, in that it offers varying ways to hit the same muscles, but this also gives a general mishmash look to the place - no consistency. Paper towel dispensers and disinfectant bottles are often empty, leaving only rags to wipe down equipment. Trash cans in lockers room often overflowing. The gym is not very clean - there are years of caked on dust on some of the fans. I have come to the gym and noticed an old mask or crumpled paper towel on the ground under a machine, and come back two days later and seen the exact same trash in the exact same place still on the ground. Clearly no one keeping this gym very clean. Masks are optional on the floor - and typically, I find myself the only one wearing one. I really wish that everyone indoors would wear a mask during coronavirus pandemic. In all, we're grateful to have a gym open during lockdown to get our lift on, and the owner Lou seems like a very nice guy and a supporter of free choice, but he could run his gym a little better, keep it more tidy and clean it more frequently. (And - although they claim there is great airflow in the gym - go from this sweltering gym to something like EOS Encinitas with its massive ceiling fans and thirty foot ceilings, and you'll feel like you've left the cramped depths of the Underworld for the great outdoors, for less too than Metroflex's $30./mo.) The staff could do a better job of policing members who sweat all over equipment and then do not even wipe it down - although few and far in between, there are such offenders, and these offenders all tend to wear tank tops so that they sweat even more all over the benches that they refuse to wipe down! Towels recently became mandatory, maybe this will help. When there's no other choice, this place gives you at least a place to work out - but otherwise, not a gym where we would remain members until it steps up its act. I suppose it "works" for like minded body builders, but maybe they just don't know better that there are so much nicer gyms out there that aren't dirty sweatboxes. With a little better management, and regular cleaning, this place could be so much better. In writing this review my intention is not to put Metroflex Oceanside down, but rather - I hope - inspire it to improve. read more

Being new to Oceanside I was looking for a good gym that was military friendly. I heard about MetroFlex so took a look. I was very disappointed in what I saw. To start my visit I watched this extremely muscular man hop out of his truck after taking a handicap spot away from an elderly couple walking into the neighboring hardware store. Then to look opposite and see there is a school for special needs. I'm not specialist but from the looks of it he is in fine shape and it's was sad to the disregard he has for people less fortunate. Now getting to the gym, I was inside waiting for someone to acknowledge me, everyone seemed too busy chatting to care. Not sure if anyone even works there but I did see the same musclar man who also seemed not interested. All of this before getting 10 ft into the gym... as I walked out I asked someone going in if they do a military discount, I was told they have none. I guess it wasn't meant for me. I'll check out the 24 or La fitness where I know they appreciate the military/veterans and have some compassion for others. read more

This place is horrible. I signed up here a while ago because of their stance on covid and so forth, but man was it not worth it. I legit feel like I waisted $120 for nothing, and more headaches then anything. Front desk women was never helpful and typically pretty rude whenever I would approach her. Also, the owner Lou is something else man. One of the most unprofessional guys I have ever met, and hear about in other gyms(not in a good way). All of the equipment in this place has to be at least 15+ years old, and holding on for dear life at this point. Never mind the cleanliness of said equipment or facility (everything looks and feels gross). That is just one thing. We can start going down the list about this place. Another example being after I finally couldn't deal with the toxicity of this gym anymore canceling was a nightmare. Never returns calls or messages super professional type stuff you know. If you enjoy going to a gym where your not a body builder or a show competitor then have at it. Not only management and staff make you feel out of place, but so does most of the body building gym bros the go here. The owner will publicly shame you on social media to draw attention to you for not re-racking weights. I get it like general gym rule is re-rack them, but apparently the owner Lou thinks its appropriate to shame you on social media for said thing. Because apparently that's a thing. So no I do not recommend this place. Go somewhere else probably for cheaper, newer equipment, and over all better atmosphere. read more
