This place was a great find. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was modern. Recommended.

The cafe is adorable and very welcoming. The cashier did her best to help to help us translate their menu in Italian to English. I needed something with ginger since my body was punishing me for the amount of carbs and dairy we've been eating. She was able to recommend a smoothie for both the husband and I. The smoothies were amazing !! Not too thick or thin. It was exactly what we needed. I believe the one I had carrots, ginger, melon, and arugula or some other leafy green. We both drank our smoothies up quickly. The cafe had a pretty big menu for food as well drinks. Seems like a great place to grab a healthy meal or drink. Very welcoming, cozy and chill. I did see a SoFar Sounds sticker there. My assumption they probably host small live music shows there. If we lived here, I think we would definitely become regulars here.

Sakana has table and kaizen sushi service and as I was eating alone I sat at the Kaizen which was nicely made out of dark woods and felt more like a dining table than a fast food experience. By the way excellent English was spoken by every staff member I encountered that night though of course your experience may differ. The meal was excellent. Sakana has an extensive non sushi menu so I started with a plate of Zaru soba, the dipping sauce (Tsuyu) lacked favour but this was something I had noticed in another Japanese restaurant in Rome so I added the onion and wasabi and a little extra soy and it was fine. I then enjoyed some sushi and sashimi and a few pieces of freshly cooked ebi tempura from the trays passing before me before ordering two pieces of Yakitori. Again this was very good but it was highly sauced, I prefer Yakitori with salt but as I didn't say that when I ordered then it's my own fault. I was still a little hungry and for some reason ordered two dishes of beef teriyaki and Yakitori with salt. However these were main course dishes but hey-Ho I set about them with gusto even though I had eaten quite a but by that point. My error in ordering two main course dishes may have had something to do with the two large Kirins I had drunk as well as an excellent bottle of unfiltered sake that was on offer but not on the menu. The meal was a little more expensive than you would expect for one person but that was entirely due to the large quantity of food I had both ordered and enjoyed. I ate out every night for two weeks and if I find myself back in Rome for long enough to tire of Pasta again I shall definitely return to Sakana, and what better recommendation can you give a place than repeat business

Besides from supremely executed sushi, cooked dishes are tasty and fun, with delicious soups (ramen and soba), fried dishes and specialties such as the grilled tuna cheek. As in real Japanese restaurants they serve Asahi beer on tap, and, added bonus, their desserts are fun and yummy, very unusual for a Japanese restaurant. Don't be fooled by the many other non-legit wannabe Japanese restaurants in the neighborhood, Sakana is the real deal. Book a table because the place is packed even on night you might consider "slow".

I come regularly to Rome but I'm often on my own. I was so curious to try this place that I went there by myself on a frisky evening in July. Even though Roman restaurants are not welcoming to people (women) eating by themselves , the waiters were welcoming and very nice. I was sat on the beautiful terrace which is tasteful and simple. It's true that the restaurant downstairs is a bit "without soul", but once on the terrace the place is a.m.a.z.i.n.g. I started with a trio of avocado tartare, zucchini spaghetti and beetroot ravioli with homemade crackers made of chia seeds. This was superb food. I continued with the seppia arrostita with potatoes. The dish was OK but a bit too salty ...all with a glass of white wine (schiopetto). I must say the entire menu is so appealing that I would have liked to try everything. I only put 4 stars because my main dish (octopus) was average. However the service atmosphere and overall quality and creativity of the menu is quite unique!! Can't wait to try it for lunch - the smoothies, salads and breakfast bowls look amazing. Tip: they should be less formal during the day to attract more people at lunch, and add high chairs at the bar so that people on their own can quickly grab a healthy bite in Rome - instead of having pizza al taglio ;) I haven't found a place like this in other cities I have been to. But the concept is extremely well thought and executed. I love it.
