Ive been shopping at this location for about a year now, every time i shop here, the experience is even more awful than the previous one. Every cashier that works here is a miserable prick, they absolutely never smile at you, or say your welcome, or ANY type of common courtesy at all, regardless of circumstances. Im not even joking, seriously, walk in there and buy something, go to cash out, the cashier will look at you like you killed one of their family members, like they fuckin hate you for existing, Its like theyre told to show zero emotion when cashing someone out, and the crazy part is ive seen them be nice to certain people, they're definitely more friendly and attentive to customers who spoke Portuguese, while people like me received minimal interaction and courtesy. The whole store just feels unwelcoming and unfriendly. Actually makes zero sense to shop here, when you can walk a quarter mile down the street to Walmart where everything is 2-3x cheaper and the employees arent assholes. I just bought 6 chicken wings and some white rice which ran me TWENTY FUCKIN SEVEN DOLLARS, while at Walmart i can get a literally double the amount of food for half that price. A box of frosted flakes will cost you 7 dollars at seabras, At Walmart I can get the family size box of frosted flakes that is maybe 2 to 3 times bigger than the seabras one for like $3.50. Im actually stumped as to how this place is still in business. A business that actively discriminates against American Born citizens in favor of Brazilians, that shop and work here, that are probably illegal mind you, should not have a license to operate a business in this country. what are the odds that the people that own this business dont give a fuck cause they cant understand english? the illegal immigrants they hire or that shop here surely dont understand a lick of english, and there-for dont understand our culture and concept of basic fuckin human decency so let me post this translated into Portuguese for the people in the back. You have to love this place! It's a local grocery store with bangin bakery and deli departments. The prepared Hispanic items like empanadas And crocetta as well as all the fried pastry filed items are amazingly good!!! They have French Ham at the deli that's my GF's go to item. Any cake or Bakery item I've had there is unbelievably fantastic!!! The counter service is terrific and everyone working there are just friendly and super helpful. The store is old school supermarket. The isles are packed with lots of import items and many domestic brands you'll find in the big name grocery stores. There's an amazing liquor department too. There's a friendly atmosphere and the clientele are equally pleasant. Even the parking lot is nice, well paved big spots and ample room. Seabras Supermarket in Kearny NJ Be Aware !! I want to share a recent experience I had at Seabras Supermarket in Kearny to alert other customers about a serious customer service issue and potential dishonest practices. Yesterday, I went shopping and paid $150 in cash with a $100 bill and a $50 bill. The cashier Liliana V , gave me the change wrapped in the receipt, which I put away without checking. When I reviewed the change in my car, I realized I had only been given change as if I had paid $120 instead of $150. I immediately returned to explain the situation to the cashier, who became nervous and called another employee named Angie. Angie said she would take the cash register to check. She later returned and insisted that I was wrong because the register balanced perfectly and was even $4 short. The cashier claimed there was no error and accused me of lying. I asked to speak to the manager and requested that they review the security footage. The manager, very kindly, assured me they would review it and call me with the results. Later, I received a call confirming that I had indeed paid $150 and that I could pick up the missing $30. When I returned to the supermarket, Angie returned the money to me with attitude and without an apology. I reminded her that she had insisted there was no error, to which she replied that it was a mistake and that, since I was the last transaction, it hadn't registered correctly. This, despite other customers checking out after me. The situation worsened when a security guard approached and told me I couldn't disrespect the cashier, even though I felt offended by the accusation and mistreatment. It's unfortunate that the employees of this supermarket do not value customers' time and appear to be using dishonest tactics. Had I not insisted, they would have taken my $30. I am particularly concerned that many elderly people shop at this supermarket and could be victims of these practices. My advice to all customers is to always check your change and be mindful of what you pay. This supermarket, which was once a good place to shop, now leaves much to be desired due to the attitude and behavior of its employees. I will not be returning, and I advise everyone to be alert and take precautions. read more

Drove here for pastéis de nata. Awful, soggy and seemed old. I've had better Portuguese pastéis de nata from an Italian bakery near me. Seabra's does not take pride in selling quality food. Seems like they take advantage with high prices and poor quality. This will be my last trip to this store. read more

Average grocery store, the ready made foods seem to sit out for a bit and not that popular.

This is such a great neighborhood grocery store for me. It's got fantastic prices on fresh fruits and veggies. Like insanely low prices! Be sure to grab a flyer when you walk in too, they always have specials and sales going on. The deli is great too, good prices in cold cuts. They have a little bakery section next to the deli, lots and lots of great Portuguese goodies. Fresh too. The meat and fish department are right on the other side of the deli. Super low prices on fresh fish. It's one of my favorite places to buy salmon and shrimp. Aside from fresh produce, they have a lot of cultural products that you can't find at your normal shoprite. It's definitely worth checking out! Parking lot gets a little crazy during weekends so it's worth it to just park across the street sometimes. read more

I never knew where my aunt got it from before so when she revealed her secret we head out right away. I was also pretty impressed with the selection and fair prices for their wines. I came here for the first time and i loved it. Being portuguese, i loved seeing so many items that i grew up with. They have a meat and fresh fish area. They have an area of wine/liquor. Their prices are also fairly reasonable. They have produce, cheeses, desserts, and various ethnic items. Love it! read more

If you're looking for your common fresh fruits and vegetables this is a local option. They carry a lot of international products as well. I've found products from Ecuador to Portugal in this location. In the back you'll find fresh seafood such as shrimps, clams, lobsters etc. Overall, the store is not huge but sufficient enough to carry an average of 3-4 different brands of each product. In another section they carry your option of liquor. Yet, you will find a large variety of rice bags. You won't find big brand name alcohol but will find vodka, wine etc. Parking isn't ever an issue for me. Employees do their best to be helpful and cashiers work pretty fast. read more

I love their sale prices on produce. That's the main reason I went there, it's hard to find good prices on produce in Harrison. Shop-Rite has good prices on groceries but not on produce. And especially if you're into juicing, you have to watch the price per pound. I got gala apples for .69 cents a pound here, what a deal! So, that said, I discovered I really like all the exotic items from brazil. Really interesting stuff. Everything in the bakery section looked fresh, so did the meat and the dairy and cheese. Enjoy shopping here even though they are a little pricey. My one and only complaint with this Seabras and the Seabra Foods in Harrison is that they get sturdier plastic bags. On numerous times my groceries have fallen out because they use cheap plastic bags. I have also witnessed other shoppers losing their groceries in the parking lot because of this cheap bags. With the prices they charge for their products I'm pretty sure they can invest in sturdier bags read more

This place is disgusting. We went in to buy some vegetables and there was a mouse crawling all over the green peppers. Prices are not competitive and the deli department smells terrible. The aisles are sometimes rather cramped, but it is my favorite store for picking up items like pao de queijo, olives, deli meats & other kitchen goodies. They're conveniently located right between Kearny & Harrison on one of the main avenues and have their own parking lot. read more

On the morning of December 24, 2021, I purchase 6 dozen of pasteis de nata (Portuguese custard tarts) for gifts, they were pre-boxed a dozen in each box, huge disappointment giving these pastries to friends that love them and look forward to these famous Portuguese pastries. The pastry was if it had not been baked at all, soggy and soft, there was no flaky shell on these, they must have been boxed while still hot, did not cool down enough to get crispy. Common sense not to do that, and no need at all to do that, only a matter of caring what you are selling your customers, have pride, and take the time to do the right thing. Also purchased Bolo de Rei, (traditional king cake), there were 2 varieties, plain store boxed and fancy Christmas box, I purchased the one in the fancy Christmas box, It was labeled Seabras Foods, it looked beautiful through the plastic opening on top. Upon opening, fruit was burned on the edges going down the sides of the cake, bottom was burned, and cake was dried. They must of seen this before boxing them. It is not about money we spend, it is about what we go home with. So much for our Christmas tradition deserts. Merry Christmas Seabras. read more

Okay so I visit this Seabra store at least once a week. I love their fruits and vegetables. So tonight I go in for some deli meat and the woman behind the counter did not speak or understand English..forgive me for not being bilingual myself but a store that when hiring requires bilingual they maybe the worker should be. So I had another customer translate for me thank God. Than comes check out time...all registers went down and could not take debit or credit cards. Lines were all backed up. No managers on duty and the poor head cashier was besides herself. No ATM available in store so myself along with at least 10 people had to cross over 2 parking lots to CVS to use ATM there do we could purchase our groceries. If you can have a lottery machine in your store you can at least have an ATM. read more
