If you're looking for a knowledgeable and thorough orthodontist in Renton, especially for children's orthodontics or braces, I highly recommend them. We had several orthodontic consultations, but Dr. Wan noticed something important that the other orthodontists had missed: our daughter had never lost one of her baby teeth. He caught the unique situation right away and created a special orthodontic treatment plan that protected her teeth while still moving her treatment forward safely. I was especially impressed with how well Dr. Wan communicated and coordinated with her primary dentist. It really felt like everyone was working together with her long-term dental health in mind, and the plan worked extremely well. Dr. Wan, Mary, and the Renton Smiles team are knowledgeable, attentive, and wonderful with kids. We've been very impressed with the entire orthodontic experience and will absolutely be bringing all of our kids here. I would highly recommend Renton Smiles to any family looking for a great orthodontist in Renton.

The previous dental practice I went to for years sold and I went to see Maple Valley Modern Dentistry in search of a new permanent provider. At my first routine visit with Vijaya B Jawaharlal to establish care (which took 2 hours), I was told that I had 3 cavities and that I needed a porcelain onlay right away to prevent a more invasive root canal in the NEAR future. This seemed so odd! I am 43 and routinely do semiannual checkups and always get a "good job keep up the good work"! I got a second opinion and none of that work was necessary. Beware...this practice is looking to bill your insurance did procedures you don't need. Criminal.

However, the billing at this practice is either unethical or they just don't know what they're doing. This is now the third time I've gotten a bill I have to call about. The first time was a random bill I was sent covering a year or so worth of services indicating I had a balance, all my EOB said I didn't and I had to call and resolve that over the phone. I have received an "estimate" of a bill before, but if you didn't look close enough, you'd assume it was a bill as it stated you needed to pay and everything within 30 days - I ended up not needing to pay anything and now, I received another bill that doesn't even come close to my EOB and in my insurance portal it says I owe nothing but according to Wilderness I do owe a balance. Sadly I'll be moving on from this practice, as I don't want to continuously have to debate bills and get them resolved.

I had a procedure that resulted in an anomaly (a fragment of my tooth left beneath the skin), and I was brought in a few times again to try to explore what happened, only to discover that it was intentional by the surgeon as it was too close to a nerve to extract. This took time out of my day and my life, and could have somehow been better logged. I think I've arrived twice to discover that an appointment that I had scheduled had been made in error or had been cancelled without my knowledge. They are booked out for six months, so this place is only a good option if you don't need anything done immediately and you're completely confident that you can keep an appointment made a half a year in advance.

She called me while I was at lunch, so using my phone I did the best I could to get the information. When I logged into Delta Dental it gave me the old information (it all looks the same to me). They should have noticed it matched the info they already had on file. Then she called me after hours at 5:25 pm to tell me I gave her the old information and she needed the new info. I'm out to dinner at this point so I'm frustrated that they waited until the day before to get their ducks in a row and both times were inconvenient for me to get the information. She is asking me what state my dental insurance is in. How do I know?! Granted I am obviously frustrated and seeing the dentist gives me anxiety, but she is clearly giving attitude back to me and being very snarky. Totally unprofessional. I asked to speak with the manager and she said she is the manager! This is not how you deal with customers. In the end she said maybe I should find another dentist. I'm going to "my final" appointment with Fairwood Gentle Dental tomorrow. I don't need more anxiety when getting medical care.
