I usually associate Kiana Lodge with weddings. My first visit on a rainy Sunday afternoon was for a celebration of life memorial (4/6/25). This can be accessed by car via ferry sailings from Edmonds/Kingston or Seattle/Bainbridge Island or driving around the sound from Seattle/Tacoma. I also received an e-newsletter where Kenmore Air can provide transport via seaplane for special events onsite. The Garden Atrium was arranged with a reception area and coat service. A table was set up with various curated memorabilia, A/V services to provide slide show and speaker capability. There was also an open bar, coffee/tea service including water and lemonade, and catering services were also provided. Delicious cuisine. Beautiful, serene views and seating also allowed for mingling and sharing anecdotes. A genuine celebration of a very accomplished individual who left lasting legacy, demonstrated a strong love of family, and a truly a life well lived. Beautiful destination for private events.

Nothing was high quality about the place, everything felt like hand me down toys, nothing appeared new. The upstairs is meant to be the quiet space, but it was not conducted that way when we were there on a Tuesday morning. It would be nice if there was a sensory space for when kids go overwhelmed. The rock pit outside was a big hit! And there were toys that he enjoyed playing with. It did fill 2.5 hours of our morning which was good. The word Museum is misleading. The kids do get to discover play and learn if you as the adult are engaging and teaching. But no where is there a place that feels museum. I have been to many children's museums that have far more learning materials and harness on teaching. The staff was mostly keeping to themselves and not engaging. The only person who was friendly is the person working the front desk she even recommended places to get lunch that's kid-friendly. $15 every once in awhile for this activity is okay but I wouldn't make it a regular weekly activity. We have more fun with free activities.

There is also more gravel rather than lawn, which limits the usable space of the "backyard". The water views are still lovely and the bushes, flowers, shrubbery nice and well-maintained. Years ago, we were unable to use our own caterers without a lot of negotiation, additional costs and proof of insurance, not to mention covering the costs of the caterers transportation (which we offered to do). The staff over a decade ago felt impersonal and stand-offish, unfriendly and not wishing to be bothered by confirming reservations, nor addressing any questions we had in regards to our wedding day and the property. I hope things have gotten better, and that the people one works with now are more communicative, friendly and happy/willing to help.

We hosted our daughter's wedding welcome party at The Manor House at Pleasant Beach Village, and…read moreunfortunately our experience was significantly diminished by both a major service failure during the event and, even more disappointing, the way management handled our concerns afterward. For an event of approximately 120 guests, our agreement included two full bars - one in the solarium and one in the Manor House. However, the second bar in the Manor House was never opened. As a result, there was only one functioning bar for the entire event, and the lines became extremely long. This was not a minor inconvenience. Guests spent a significant amount of time waiting for drinks, and I later learned that my husband--the father of the bride--did not have a single drink during the entire evening because he did not want to spend the celebration standing in the bar line. This was our daughter's wedding weekend. It was a once-in-a-lifetime event, and there is no opportunity to go back and redo it. To the venue's credit, they acknowledged that the second bar should have been open and removed the charge associated with that bar from our invoice. However, refunding a service that was never provided does not undo the impact the failure had on the event itself. What ultimately changed my impression of the venue, however, was how management handled a subsequent billing issue. Our final payment was late, and a 5% late fee of approximately $685 was assessed. I want to be very clear: I acknowledged that I had not carefully reviewed the contract and had not been aware of the late-fee provision. I was not arguing that the contract did not contain a late fee. What made the $685 fee even more troubling was learning that it had been calculated before crediting the substantial amount we had already paid toward the event, rather than on the remaining unpaid balance. Because the contract states that the 5% fee applies to the "amount due," I questioned that calculation as well. Separately, I explained that my husband had developed serious and unexpected health problems immediately following the wedding and that our family had been overwhelmed dealing with medical appointments and his diagnosis. I asked whether, given the circumstances, our prior payments, the substantial amount we had spent on the event, and the venue's acknowledged service failure, they would consider waiving the fee as a one-time courtesy. They refused. I then asked that the request be reviewed by management. Management again refused and characterized maintaining the initial 5% fee rather than allowing it to increase later as providing us with "grace." That response was extraordinarily disappointing. I fully understand that businesses have contracts and payment policies. But there is also a difference between having the contractual right to impose a charge and choosing whether to exercise discretion when a customer explains an extraordinary family circumstance--particularly when that same business failed to provide a material service it had contracted to provide during an irreplaceable wedding event. We ultimately paid the invoice in full. What has stayed with me most is not the money. It is the lack of any meaningful flexibility or willingness to exercise discretion once a problem arose. After spending a substantial amount with this venue for one of the most important weekends in our family's life, I expected a very different level of customer care. Prospective clients should know that our experience during the event did not match what we contracted for and, when we later asked management for reasonable consideration under extremely difficult personal circumstances, none was extended. For us, that has profoundly changed how we view The Manor House and Pleasant Beach Village.

Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I received very mediocre, perhaps even poor, service. My boyfriend and I are in our mid 20s, and we didn't order drinks. We could tell immediately that our waiter profiled us as low tipping customers. He was very short with us and didn't offer any explanation of the menu, which we could hear him doing with other tables. We also noticed he engaged other customers in cheerful conversation, which was lacking from our experience. We decided not to order dessert, and our waiter grabbed the menus off our table and walked away without saying anything. It was incredibly rude, especially after he neglected to check on us throughout our meal. We also noticed that we were the last table to be helped when it was time for the bill. He helped all the surrounding tables before us despite the fact that we were the first to finish our meal. As far as the food goes, we ordered the olive and almonds appetizer and it was quite good. The marcona almonds were tossed in oil and lightly salted and they were wonderful. The olives tasted like glorified olives from a can. I personally like canned olives so I was fine with it, but they didn't strike me as anything special. For dinner, I ordered the roasted cauliflower and quinoa. The cauliflower came out quite burnt. I had planned to ask that the plate be remade, but as I mentioned our waiter failed to check on us once the food arrived. My boyfriend got the butternut squash pizza and it was alright, but felt that it was lacking a salty aspect. Other than our waiter, the employees were nice. The gentleman who sat us and the woman who refilled our sodas were very polite. For a nice restaurant, the prices were reasonable. I was disappointed by profiling and lack of respect on behalf of our waiter. The cauliflower, on the other hand, was extremely over-salted.
