Jess and Zach are the bomb diggity; I can't sing their praises enough! I have referred so many people to them and no one is ever disappointed. I look forward to coming here (almost) every week. The team is so friendly, payment options are easy, and, of course, the fish and seafood are all super fresh! Everyone is knowledgeable and even when it's crazy, Jess well spend a couple minutes talking to a customer to give recommendations or answer questions. They always have great energy and good specials (like giveaways and for holidays). You can even text her to have her put something aside for you so they don't run out before you get there (which happens often!). She knows me and knows my go-to (Atlantic salmon fillets), but she also knows I trust her and love a good deal (which she always has). The last time I went, I was eyeing her new prepared section (a game changer!) and she helped me in taking home three extra pieces than what I had planned to buy, with no regrets! The two pieces of parmesan encrusted salmon was a surprising preparation for me, but for $5 it was a no-brainer, and we quite enjoyed it (see picture)! I told her I wanted something quick for a lunch and she recommended the candy scallops (see picture)- again for $5. And again they were amazing. I had asked her what was her favorite in the case and she said it was the haddock with seafood stuffing. Ooh boy she was right. And because that put me at $15, she threw in an extra container of seafood stuffing! My (vegan) roommates may have hated me due to the lingering fish smell for days, but I'll never stop as long as Jess is my supplier!

It was in a plain hotdog bun rather than a toasted brioche bun. I had to add more butter. I think you should try a warm buttered lobster roll from Nolan's on Canandaigua ($25), the restaurant or the snack shack, to know what it should look and taste like. For this price the quality has to improve... I won't be back unless I see pictures that it's better. I was really really really looking forward to having a go-to lobster roll spot.

Another Saturday exploring my hood. The prices were phenomenal l compared to main grocery stores, which I expected being from Washington DC. I really have been missing China Town. This was the closest thing to it since I moved here. I will definitely be back, they were packed, very busy, but also very quiet, which I found relieving since I have sensory issues. No loud checkouts, everyone was courteous even customers. Just people getting their groceries, no entitlement, no BS, no Facial recognition upon checkout like at Wegmans. Just good community neighbors having a polite, no rage grocery shopping. Fruits and veggies very fresh, not treated with oil made to look fresh and glossy, just fresh. I did have to be mindful of salt products, and look hard for organic, but I'm not Asian and reading labels is more time consuming, labels are written in English but tinier, and my eyes are not what they used to be. But everyone was real patient. Very clean, quiet, staff were friendly and helpful. Prepared foods as well. This will be my new go to spot, before hitting the regular grocery store. Will definitely be saving money.

Well, I prefer to support a local independent butcher shop, and today, I found an absolute gem. I've been following Skip's Butcher Shop in Fairport, NY for a while now on Instagram, I've had plenty of time lately as I'm recovering from shoulder surgery. Anyway, I stopped by this afternoon to finally check this place out. This Butcher Shop is fantastic, I can't wait to go back. Their selections of meats and cooking related items was very impressive, along with their competitive pricing and quality. But the thing that stands out for me, is their service. Everyone there was friendly and polite and really willing to help. You can tell the difference between employees that just have a job, and the people that genuinely want to help customers. Skip's offers lots of different homemade sausages, that's important to me. Their cuts of meat were impressive, everything was slightly larger/thicker and of obvious higher quality than virtually every other shop I've been to. The store is immaculate, every item is organized and clearly labeled making it easy to navigate through so you can find just the right item you want. The other thing that caught my eye is that they also offer enough selection of things like onions, potatoes, breads, buns and rolls that you don't have to make another trip to the grocery store, just to make a meal, everything is very well thought out. I'm including plenty of pictures so you can see for yourself, but the only way to find out, is to visit them yourself and I hope I've inspired you to pay them a visit. I used to stop in on Fridays for the oyster deal, specialty butters, and hard-to-find items like Dufour Puff Pastry, but prices have definitely gone up. I was genuinely excited when this place first opened, but now nothing really stands out enough to make it a regular stop. The store is on the smaller side, and there are things I wish they carried. Parking is fine, but the entrance layout can be a little awkward.
