A hassle from the very start…read more From the moment we started planning our vacation we were getting the runaround from this company about which house we were able to get. After double booking our house they decided to cancel our ALREADY CONFIRMED reservation and gave it to another group. After completely disregarding our request to keep us in the house we wanted originally , we were willing to accept the lesser option just to salvage the vacation. On the very first night we get there we have "security" banging on the door dressed in some sort of motorcycle gang jacket complaining about how many cars are in the driveway. How do you offer a house that sleeps 10 and only allow 4 cars in the driveway. Not a very comforting start...... On the next day during the afternoon we get a knock at the door by a very angry overweight woman going on and on how many times she called the property and how upset she was that she" had to drive all the way out here" while waving a document around saying that we have to sign a letter charging our guest 150 dollars for every person who's over 10 people cumulative in the house??? After we signed the letter we felt at all times we were being watched like little children. Personally we didnt pay $1000 FOR 2 DAYS to feel like a prisoner in a house we didnt want in the first place! I'd say this place is more stress than it's worth, combine that with a crappy weather in bodega bay, and it's not much of vacation at all . Honestly we were better off having a backyard party than ever thinking of coming out to Dillon beach and using this company was a good idea .I will never do business with or recommend this company to anyone and im glad the nightmare is over!!!

The house is set back from the road and surrounded by nature. The wrap around porch that provides access to 4 bed rooms was ideal for gathering, hanging out or reading in one of the 6 vintage Adirondack chairs. The main house (great room) is designed for gather, eating, talking and sharing time with one another. A tennis court that was built at the turn of the century (Inverness Tennis Club) abuts the house and seems to call you over for a quick game of singles or doubles. The bedrooms are adorable with comfy beds and comforters. Little reading lights hanging over the bed make it perfect for reading your favorite book before going to sleep. The Colby House is a family jewel where you can feel generations of family gathering, sharing conversation and enjoying each others company. We 4 generations of family members staying and universally everyone loved loved loved this place. I highly recommended the Colby House for people that want to really get away from it all. Somehow, the website for this "Bed & Breakfast' fails to mention that this is a very tiny studio and the "Eurobed' is a uncomfortable, squeaky Murphy bed that effectively cuts the room in half when it's pulled down. But you'll need to move some furniture out of the way before you can even open the bed. There was no advertised 'down comforter' and the furnishings are very tired and dreary - think worn thrift store quality. Even the candles on the small dining table were dusty, burned down stubs. The kitchen area is tiny, with no room to work, and some of the appliances were located in areas you couldn't even plug them in! And the flatware that came out of the drawer was noticeably greasy and had to be washed before we could use them. The deck is also small and in heavy shade most of the day - there was a small cafe table and 2 chairs and two dusty lounge chairs you wouldn't want to use - certainly nothing like the B & B website photos. Hot tub is small but functional - but not truly private, as your view from the deck opens out to the owners backyard lawn and the monstrous house which is right next door. The gazebo on Inverness Bay has a lovely view, but it, like everything else here, is rough and beaten up - not a clean or comfortable place to hang out. There are many, many other nicer places to stay in Inverness and areas around Tomales Bay - this was the worst "Bed & Breakfast' or vacation rental of any kind we'd ever stayed at. Unless you don't care about ambiance and comfort, don't even consider staying here.

Beautiful blue and white tiled bathroom with shower only - wonderful water pressure and hot water! Tony and Jan supply body wash, shampoo, and conditioner (Neutrogena Rainbath and Pantene at the time of my visit). Small wood-burning stove with logs and all the tools needed to keep a fire going. Wifi signal was great - I watched some Netflix and joined a Zoom meeting from my own computer and had no issues with either. Hot tub was great. Outdoor space to sit at a nice table with four chairs and a nice looking BBQ. I saw an elk roaming on the property, lots of quail and other birds (they have a pictorial guide of birds hanging by the front door right as you walk in). The yurt is on a gravel road. You pass the neighbor's sheep and horses as you drive in. Point Reyes Station is literally right around the corner - a 2-3 minute drive - with lots of food, great markets and shopping. Inverness is a 5-minute drive (if that). The yurt is very conveniently located. I passed Jan and Tony and Stella, their dog, on the way out one night - very friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. I will be thrilled when the opportunity comes to visit again!!

The yurt is charmingly rustic, clean, quiet, private, and the perfect location to access the many outdoor offerings of west Marin. It has a fantastic hot tub that's perfect to relax in after a day of hiking. Tony and Jan are incredibly kind, wonderful hosts. We've only had one issue we had to contact them about over the years (no soap in the shower) and they took care of it very quickly.
