It's true; I could be driving a Ferrari--a fleet of Ferraris--with what I've invested in crowns, caps, root canals, implants (5 so far), and more. However . . . all that changed when I began visiting Essex Street Dental. After a few visits, Lori the hygienist had my (red, swollen) gums nice and pink, just like in the toothpaste ads. Prior to that, I figured I was doomed to painful, excruciating periodontal surgery. (At one session years ago, the periodontist injected novocaine into the ROOF of my MOUTH! ) Thank God I don't have to go through that again, although if I ever had to, I would want it to be at Essex St. Dental. Dr. Casiglia is very handy with a needle and probably gives the least painful injections I've experienced. Matter of fact, the last time I was in the chair, I was actually unaware he'd given me the novocaine. This is coming from someone who's a shaking, quivering, nervous wreck in the dental chair. Essex St. Dental makes things easy. They're a one-stop-shop. Now you don't have to make a series of visits for an implant or crown. It's done in one visit. For crowns, they have invested big in what I call a "crown-cubator," a piece of advanced equipment that takes your tooth's measurements and creates a perfect crown--no going back for fittings; it's all done there. Last but not least, Dr. Casiglia also does Botox injections. Like my lengthy dental record, I go way back with Botox. In fact, when I had my first treatment, it didn't have the trademark Botox, it was basic botulism. That was more than 15 years ago and I've been a steady injectee, visiting cosmetic surgeons' offices all over the Boston area. Recently, for a reasonable sum, I got my forehead Botoxed by Dr. Casiglia. Usually I have to return to treat the stubborn crevice between my eyebrows. Last year I visited a Beverly cosmetic surgeon's office and returned THREE times. Nonetheless, the crevice remained, quite visible. Not so with my recent injections at Essex Street Dental. The proof is my smooth forehead. All in all, I have to say that Essex Street Dental's office is friendly, conscientious and professional. They won't let you down. I'm fortunate that I found them.

Front desk person is someone you think about all year as being one of the good people walking around this planet. Only issue I've had with them is an insurance billing fail, where they quoted me $550 for a procedure I had done, then later billed me for close to double that. The explanation was that my insurance had been maxed out, which apparently was true - but they should have seen that in advance and advised me accordingly. At any rate, they were very supportive of my lack of employment and let me work out a plan to pay it off in installments.

But when I recently cracked a tooth and began experiencing pain, I knew it would only get worse. My wife encouraged me to finally face my fear and use the extraction as an opportunity to get back to regular dental visits. Having just enrolled in new insurance, I searched the provider directory and chose Kowalski Dental cause I liked the name. I called and explained to the receptionist that I would soon be traveling for work, and the team graciously squeezed me in the very next morning. As a tech guy, I was extremely impressed by the efficient new-patient intake process. All the forms and consent documents arrived by text, allowing me to complete everything online before my appointment. When I arrived at the Beverly office, I noticed immediately before I even walked through the door that everyone seemed to be having a genuinely good day. The staff members were smiling and laughing, and I was welcomed warmly. The appointment I had been dreading was already off to a good start. The office was also absolutely spotless and when I got to the room to be seen I noticed right away that dental tech had changed so much since the last time I had been. After my X-rays, Dr. Kowalski evaluated the cracked tooth and carefully reviewed the images for any other potential concerns. He clearly explained everything he saw and what needed to be done right away. I reluctantly agreed to have the cracked molar, which also had an abscess, extracted. Thanks to plenty of Novocain, I didn't feel a thing during the short procedure. The entire experience was fantastic. Dr. Kowalski and his team were friendly, professional, and reassuring throughout my visit. I've already scheduled a full cleaning and evaluation for next week, and I'm genuinely looking forward to working with them to restore my dental health. If you live in the Groveland or Beverly area and are looking for a dentist, or considering making a change, I highly recommend Kowalski Dental. Many RED flags about this office. The first is signing a WAIVER, so they are not at fault if…read moresomething goes terribly wrong. They ignore any documented outside infections that may involve the gums or teeth. Altered imaging, which is highly illegal! I have imaging from other recent dentists that prove otherwise and documented as UNDETERMINED to investigate by a proper qualified specialist such as a root tip infection which there was not. They are likely to push a root canal and crown done by their specialists. I also noticed that during a cleaning that tiny parts of tooth were missing in between filings as they were there before they started. I have proof. This is likely to start a future infection such as a treament like a root canal or fillling. They use a vibrating tool that's more like an ingraving machine you would use to etch writing on a metal tool like a wrench. The pieces I picked up off my tongue were clear and not yellow or white which would indicate tarter build up and noticed pieces missing between my filling on one tooth, which was always there for years, noticing it with my tounge and it was sharp too. DO NOT USE THIS TOOL FOR CLEANING! It likely damages the enemal and creates cavities! Yes, it's effective to remove tartar build-up but can do much more damage than a pick and rotary toothbrush. This is often witnessed by others who have treatment with this tool. Avoid it in other places, too. If they can't answer you, then walk away and note it in a review. To sum up, this practice has offered me root canals for unesesary work were the teeth dont hurt, there is no visible infection on the gums teeth or even recent or current history when in comparison. You get a different dentist every time and have no idea what the last practitioner did. They likely deform good teeth for profit! There is much more I did not mention here when compared to other dental practices that were current and I've had over the years, so please use your own caution judgments and inform yourself everything about a practice before making clear judgments. I have also noticed a reduction in patents in the waiting area and ease of getting a much sooner appointment within a days, not weeks or months time which is an indicator of a mass of clients leaving to go elsewhere since about 2021 or so. They are not all honest, so choose your dentist carefully.

And...when it comes to restorative procedures I have had fillings done by Dr. Findly & Dr. Cowell and they are both rock stars. If you are the least bit nervous about getting fillings, they make it so much easier. Dr. Cowell especially; having had to do two fillings on my back molars (which are generally pretty uncomfortable to have done anyway); did an awesome job despite some difficulty getting me numb at first, which I can only imagine would have been terrible had she not known exactly what to do.
