We bought tickets ONLY for the air show. First, they changed the date from September 5th to September 6th and refused refunds. Then they boarded us late, so we were only on the boat for about 2.5 hours and actually sailing for roughly 2 hours. Most importantly, we saw NONE of the air show. The boat basically went in a small circle, never getting more than about 10 minutes from the dock. That was the "tour." We didn't buy tickets for a regular harbour cruise -- we bought an Air Show cruise that was advertised as a way to watch the air show. We didn't see any of it. Highly disappointing and misleading.

However, apparently it was originally advertised as an ABBA party which was not advertised on the site I went to. The site said to be there for 11:30. We get there just after 11am and then find out boarding isn't till noon. Standing in the sun for almost an hour. A family was in front of us with 2 young boys. They waited and waited like we all did. We and they finally go to start to board the boat and they are in told that no children are allowed because there is alcohol on this boat. What a *hitshow. The boat is docked next to a golf driving range. There is black netting over the entire boat to protect it from the golf balls!! You are looking through thick black netting, not open air!!! So now my partner and I have been waiting 1 hour to board the boat. We get on, DJ music blaring. Eventually a bunch of women all dressed in 70's ourfits tell us it's an "ABBA" party. Huh?!!! So you have to look at the sky through thick black netting, a little like being in a cage. DJ music blaring for 5 hours. Somehow they had a singer to do fo the "ABBA" songs which basically sounded like not great karioke. Maybe this was a good boat at one time in the past, but personally I will NEVER go on this boat again. Thankfully the airshow was pretty good and it was a nice day, so it wasn't a total loss.

The narrator had great energy and you can tell she either really loved her job or she enjoyed telling customers the history of the Toronto waterfront. I can't quite remember her name (apologies!) but our tour was on 05/27/19 at noon and our crew (especially the girl who gave the narration) had amazing humor, charm, and sass. We had also missed our 11am tour because we ran late in storing our luggage at a nearby storage locker and the staff person at the window had no issues rescheduling us for the 12pm tour. Amazing!

The two person crew did a great job both driving the boat and talking about the sights we were seeing. I enjoyed learning a bit more about the city. One heads up...the stairs down into the main seating area are extremely steep. It's only a few, and the railings are sturdy, but for someone with balance or mobility challenges this could be hard. It might be worth calling ahead to see if space on the small back upper level is prioritized for those who can't navigate the stairs.

As disappointing as this is, I could understand. But, the company also refused a reimbursement and only offered a raincheck. This felt extremely unprofessional, and i felt devalued as a customer. You must be a member of the RCYC in order to sail or dine here or be invited by a member to attend. Sarah assisted me in coordinating our group getting on/off the water taxi from Toronto over to the island and also with helping people get situated for the event since I was unable to attend in person. She did a fantastic job and went the extra mile, ordering an extra water taxi for me when one of our VP's was running late from a very important meeting. Everyone who attended gave me rave reviews on the skipper and crew than ran the three 8' foot yachts I reserved. The photographer I hired through the yacht club also did an amazing job. I set up a small training session with appetizers and drinks before they sailed, and that was well done. Dinner for everyone was also reported back to my VP's and GM's as delicious and executed well. They raved about the steak. The wine selection offered to me was a great choice of red and white from Canada, US, France and Italy. They have a strict dress code. No blue denim, short shorts, mini skirts or tank tops. Hats are only allowed on ladies if they go with their attire in the dining room. Collared shirts are required for dining. No cell phones or computers are allowed in the dining room. Non-marking soles are needed for sailing. They require a waiver be signed by each party before sailing. Due to weather, the skipper may cancel/change plans for the event. Turns out that when I was trying to book the place back in May, their power went out due to a large wind storm.

Not even the best part, well maybe it was the best part, was halfway through the morning: my 14 year old pulled in a 29+ pound salmon. Turns out that it was the Great Ontario Salmon Derby weekly winner. As soon as the fish got on board, Ryan made sure it did not lose an ounce of weight and he helped us submit the fish after the trip was over. He obviously knows what he is doing and our family's greatest fish story has a Derby win it.

If I'm not mistaken, the job of a customer service person is to provide information. I phoned because I wanted to speak to a real, live person who could add up the costs for me. After going to their website and phoning again, I got amelia again. Upon realizing it was me she angrily transferred me to another woman who at least was friendlier but still had to be coached to give an exact, everything included price for the summer (she kept giving me the individual fee amounts which is useless to me, I need a final figure) and when I gave up she said at the very end of the conversation "make sure we are the right place for you," passive-aggressively and in a snotty tone. Pretty sure I knew it wasn't before that moment. Bottom line is- membership could be a positive experience but because the customer service and attitude towards younger customers is so poor I wouldn't bother.

From the Ferry ride, to the Amusement Park, do to the huge lines the crowd density is truly impressive. You don't so much walk down the paths as you get swept along by a human tide of strollers, four-person quadricycles moving at terrifying speeds, and families carrying enough coolers to survive a nuclear fallout shelter. Despite my negativity, Centre Island is classic chaotic Canadian fun. The island with its parks, greenery, beaches etc are beautiful. The railroad train ride and gondola rides were entertaining, despite the long queues. About $6-8 per ride.
